^I don't have beautiful widgets and from the reviews, it doesn't sound like it's worth purchasing...
9/6/2010 6:04:38 PM
What reviews say it's not worth purchasing? I don't know a single person with an android device that doesn't have and they all like it.]
9/6/2010 6:05:43 PM
all the ones at the top of the market. most have said it's not updating time/weather very well.found one that works just as well; completely transparent as well. i like it for free.[Edited on September 6, 2010 at 6:24 PM. Reason : .]

i love my beautiful widgets. only app ive purchased so far and definitely worth it imo.

beautiful widgets is a must have and worth the price. make it the one app you buy if you only go for free apps.

i got to play with the epic todayfucking fell in love with the crisp blacks on the screen, the lightweighted-ness of the device, and the thin factor.the keyboard was only mildly impressive - the keys are very tiny and don't offer much resistance.the disappearing bottom lights for the 4 buttons does get annoying.not having the option to view HQ YouTube videos annoyed me to no extent - I wanted to compare video to my Evo.the blue and black theme was sexy. the built in Swype that matched everything was sexy. but Samsung's DataWiz bullshit was kind of annoying - would need to root that fucker ASAP if i got it.
9/6/2010 10:29:30 PM
I love the hardware on all the galaxy S phones, but there are a lot of things about the UI I really don't like. If I had one without question I'd be using ADW launcher and/or a custom ROM.
9/6/2010 11:26:21 PM
is there a root method out for it yet and a Froyo rom?you know what android needs? a fucking word wrap feature. those damn icons with unreadable lables are getting to me now...[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 4:28 AM. Reason : .]

Froyo should be released for it sometime this month. ADW Launcher covers up most of what I don't like about TouchWiz. If I were on sprint's network I'd be very very interested in this phone.

anyone know how to remove clockworkmod recovery and replace it with the stock recovery? droid x, 2.1I've been searching, but I don't understand what has been said... my phone no longer has a data connection and I can't figure out SDK... my sd card has been cleared; did a factory reset on the phone...I'm talking step-by-step shit. I'm having fun trying to decode all this crap...[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : .][Edited on September 7, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : .]

I figure like most Moto phones you'll need the latest RSD Lite, the stock SBF file, and the proper USB drivers.found this youtube video, might be helpful:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIdtdYqbasw&feature=youtube_gdata[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 4:03 PM. Reason : asddf]
9/7/2010 4:02:43 PM
I have no clue what that means.
9/7/2010 4:03:14 PM
the USB drivers I figure you at least know about.SBF file is the stock rom.RSD lite is a program used to flash roms, I think it's moto specific because that's all I've seen it used for.
9/7/2010 4:04:31 PM
yeh thanks.normally, I could/would figure this shit out... but I'm sick as hell, tired of googling, and I'm not comprehending much right now

If it's anything like the Droid 1, it's super simple. I sbf'd mine just for the heck of it just to see how it works. In other news, got replacement Droid #2 today. The first one had a free and wobbly slider and it doesn't want to open on this one. Can't test for the wifi issue since I have no WPA encrypted networks where I am but I'm guessing it won't help since it's apparently a froyo issue.
9/7/2010 5:36:40 PM
haha wait a week or two and try again for that droid 2

^^Not with TouchWiz, no thx. HTC's Sense is the best UI if you have to have something other than stock android.
9/7/2010 6:59:03 PM
Touchwiz 3.0 really doesn't seem that bad. After playing with the Epic 3G, it's seems just as smooth as any of the SenseUI devices. If you haven't played with one of the Galaxy S phones, go check out the Fascinate thursday or the Epic 3G ]
9/7/2010 7:48:40 PM
I've played with the Captivate. Doesn't didn't like it that much...but it doesn't matter if you run custom skins or Launcher Pro or ADW or whatever. To each his own. The biggest turn off is the shiny plastic on the back. The S AMOLED is freakin awesome, though.
9/7/2010 8:02:24 PM
yeah, that back is going to be a finger print magnet. Plus it comes with 2.1 and who knows when Samsung will get it upgraded.
9/7/2010 8:20:36 PM
by the time 3.0 comes out, from the looks of everyone else, lol
9/7/2010 8:21:24 PM
i get so upset when i see fingerprints

Just a sweet observation about my x. I've had it in my pocket every day since it was released and there isn't a scratch to be found. *knock on wood* even my old dumb phones would get beat to hell within the first few weeks so im pleasantly surprised.[Edited on September 7, 2010 at 8:58 PM. 9/7/2010 10:01:49 PM
TouchWiz is amazing honestly. It adds a LOT of quick access features and you can always run LauncherPro, ADW or drop Launcher2 in system/app and keep all the access TW brings. Sense is okay, but not as good in my opinion and Blur, LOL, are you fucking kidding? Motorola needs to stick to stock android like the Droid. Their UI is hideous if you have played with anything else. LG has done a decent job too.

My Droid X charged all night and was at 100% when i left for work around 7:45. At lunch I bring out my phone to discover that it is already down to 60% battery. My activities on the phone today include3-4 minutes of internet use, a two phone calls, a couple texts, and a brief use of the show savvy app.Looking at the Battery Use screen my usage includes teh following breakdown...4h 58m 26s since unplugged56% - Display21% - Voice Calls18% - Cell Standby4% - Phone Idle3% - Shop SavvyConsidering I made two voice calls I clicked on the "Voice Call" icon to confirm the amount of use.In the screen the phone indicated that my Minutes of Voice usage was 4m 33s.Is this normal? So basically my phone drained 10% of the battery while not even on the phone for 5 minutes. I guess I am screwed the next time my g/f wants to blabber for a long conversation or I need to call [insert slow gov't agency here] for customer support.
9/8/2010 12:38:46 PM
what is your battery setting set toi keep mine on "smart"/medium
9/8/2010 1:56:24 PM
Not normal. How long have you had the phone? How many times have you charged it? Has it been reset since you got the phone? What kind of stuff do you keep on/off all the time? (wifi, gps, bluetooth, background data, auto-sync, screen brightness, etc.).

is blur responsible for putting all my facebook friends in my contacts? if so, fuck it.
9/8/2010 10:14:17 PM
blur only puts your facebook contacts in your facebook contacts list...your gmail contacts and your phone contacts are still completely separate.
9/8/2010 10:33:26 PM
^Exactly. And personally, I don't mind my contacts being filled up with my facebook friends. Do I want to find a certain person? Easy, just start typing their name, or use voice search, or speed dial, or make a shortcut, or find which group of contacts they're in and more easily get them from there...

Random non-related question...I am looking to purchase a droid this weekend. I am currently torn on which device to purchase between the Droid 2, Droid Incredible, and Droid X.A lot of the reviews I've read say the X is the better phone...however, I find it a little big for my liking. I like the feel and look of the incredible the most, but also like that the Droid 2 has the physical keyboard. I'm probably leaning toward the Incredible...can anyone give me some opinions?
9/9/2010 8:25:43 AM
I, too, thought the DX was a little too big... but man am I glad I got it. I'd hate it if I had a smaller screen. I don't care for a physical keyboard (come on... touchscreen phone! touch the damn screen!) and I thought the HTC devices felt/operated like crap/kids toys (maybe the newer ones don't...). In addition, once I played with quite a few, I noticed that I only really liked the DX's form factor. It's hard to go wrong on most new android devices though... but if you like real estate DX is the way to go.
9/9/2010 8:45:04 AM
I thought the X was too big in the store, but took a chance and got it anyway. I don't notice it being any bigger at all while carrying it in my pocket (compared to previous phones) but definitely notice (in a positive way) the extra screen real estate you get while using it.
