If you think you didn't get justice and were one of the people who wanted him to fry. You are the reason he is free. The could have gotten manslaughter all day long... But murder 2 with a broken nose and a bleeding head.... No fucking way.

I'm not saying dude isn't an asshole.
I'm not saying dude didn't deserve his beating.
I'm just saying no one can prove dude was not acting in his own defense without a shadow of a doubt.

Innocent until proven guilty remember? There is a burden if proof and they didn't have it.

Manslaughter was on the table. I feel like he should of atleast did sometime in prison (doesn't matter if it was life or 3 years). I've never seen a person get bail in a murder case. I actually know first hand of people in my family that had drug chargers (first offense) and were denied bail. The system is fucked up /thread

I see this as different. Race wasn't at issue in Casey Anthony's case. A whole race didn't feel slighted by her innocent verdict. Who is likely to be out for street justice in her situation? What subset of American people was her alleged crime a slap in the face to? Successful, loving moms? There isn't a lot of revenge killing coming out of that demographic.

I understand the verdict. They couldn't prove beyond reasonable doubt that it wasn't self defense. I do think that GZ should somehow be held accountable for his actions because in my opinion, the guy fucked up in a few places along the way and I don't think it's really reasonable to shoot an unarmed person in the chest even if they're kicking your ass. Honestly, it's complicated. I think about racial issues, vigilante justice, the role citizens play in public safety, what is reasonable force, gun ownership, self defense. . .etc.

If Trayvon Martin hadn't been a black kid, he probably wouldn't have been considered suspicious and nothing would have happened.
Had GZ not decided to be a cowboy and kept his ass in the car as the police asked him to do, nothing would have happened.
Had GZ been somehow trained in security or been a little more thoughtful in his actions, he may have identified himself clearly or approached TM in a benign manner (Hi, I'm on the neighborhood watch and I haven't seen you in the neighborhood, can I help you with something?), he may have been able to determine that TM was unarmed, he may not have drawn his weapon or shot him fatally, he may not have felt threatened by a kid he outweighed by 50 pounds, etc.
Had GZ not taken his weapon with him or owned a firearm, TM may not have felt threatened enough to scuffle or maybe they would have fought and someone would just ended up with their ass kicked.

/TLDR It's complicated shit.
