^^^9-1-2 since cole has been backand while the Cullen and Williams situation is different (yea my b....don't know what i was thinking there), i still say we should be patient with bringing him back. And actually our PP has been at 37% since Cullen has been out, which is pretty damn good...now I don't remember how pretty those PP's have been, but you can't argue with resultsHe's listed as a lower body injury....does anyone know what specifically happened?? The Washington game has been the only one I haven't watched pretty much all year

here's my NHL viewing schedule for the week Mon - NJ* - NYR 7pmTue - Chi* - Mon 7:30pmWed - Buf - Atl* 7pm NJ* - Pitt 7:30pmThur - Car* - NYR 7pmFri - Buf - Wash* 7pm Atl* - Fla 7:30pm* = win is beneficial to the canes, with the possible exception of Buffalo - Washington. It would be nice for Washington to drop all of their games and the canes to take the division, but I'd rather see Buffalo lose and make sure we're in the playoffs]
3/30/2009 2:02:22 AM
honestly, i'd rather not win out and go into the postseason with 11 wins in a row.i just have a feeling it wouldn't end well[Edited on March 30, 2009 at 2:27 AM. Reason : that said, make sure were in! and buck fuffalo.]

Question for any CBA/contract buffsIf we sign Babchuk for one year, will he be an RFA come next off-season? According to nhlnumbers, he is 24, where Jokinen and Ruutu are both 25 and upcoming RFAs. I guess the fact that he missed a yearof NHL action probably doesnt hurt our cause either.
3/30/2009 9:50:33 AM
^^^so did you actually send back your playoff tix envelope??
3/30/2009 10:05:43 AM
27 years or 7 years in the league, whichever comes first.Examples:Chad LaRose: Only has 4 seasons in the league, but just turned 27 (3 days ago), so he will be an UFA.Tuomo Ruutu: Is 26 with 6 seasons under his belt, so this summer will be his last as a RFAAnton Babchuk: Turns 25 in May and will have 5 seasons under his belt, so anything more than a 1 year deal will take him past RFA eligibilityThere is also group 6 UFA which allows borderline NHL players like Dwight Helminen to become UFAs without having to wait so long.
3/30/2009 10:14:43 AM
ok phew, I feel better now. It'd be nice to get him locked up for a few years, but we will probably bargain-bin him for next year.

too much recognitionWE ARE FUCKED
3/30/2009 2:29:54 PM
I saw the rankings and was quite confused. Especially since the intro didn't mention anything about the Canes but puts them number 1. I know we're hot and technically power rankings are a measure of just how hot you are at the time, but I'd rather not have us at the one slot as cool as it is to see us in first again. I just hope we can keep this streak into the playoffs and never cool off as that'd be best, which is why I too hope we don't win out completely as the fear of burning out in the first round is way too high in me right now.
3/30/2009 2:33:03 PM
^ that ranking means nothing when other sites have us at 6 and 12 too
3/30/2009 2:51:07 PM
Oh I know, but to be honest, I always felt the hockey news' were the most accurate a lot of weeks. TSN has a Pittsburgh obsession, so even when they were choking worse than us, they were ahead of us. I mean not that they mean anything, but I'm just saying, I like theirs the most some weeks.

3/31/2009 9:18:35 PM
halks suck - how the hell do you only win 3 cups when you have been arond for almost 90 years (most of that time only playing in a 6 team league).
4/1/2009 9:45:30 AM
^That is common for Chicago sports, believe me.

4/1/2009 3:16:46 PM
It's all just a giant april fools joke on the Canes nation. They'll hype up the Canes a lot and get us all excited. and then boom.
4/1/2009 3:25:44 PM
too much recognition.....we always play better when it's Hurricanes vs. The World
4/1/2009 3:59:41 PM
so what happens in July? resign Cole to a mega deal or what?
4/1/2009 4:48:27 PM
let him go, struggle to make playoffs, trade for him midseason, profitrepeat
4/1/2009 5:23:52 PM
I have a group of friends that wants to go to the game tomorrow. We're dirt poor though, so we're hoping to get the $10 tickets. What's the odds that there are even going to be some available tomorrow morning? I know the $25 dollar tickets may have already sold out, which means we're screwed. I couldn't find even a single $25 dollar ticket through ticketmaster, but I don't know how reliable they are.We could care less if we end up sitting together...we just want to get in the game.
4/1/2009 5:38:11 PM
I don't think he should make that much money($4 mill or whatever) IMO. He's definitely good, but not a huge game changer. Plus with the recession we might be able to get him for cheaper anyway. I'll be he wants to stay in Raleigh.
4/1/2009 5:38:28 PM
4/1/2009 5:57:13 PM
As much as I hate admitting it, Cole makes space for Staal, and that makes all the difference in the world.
4/1/2009 6:09:32 PM
^haha i love to admit it....
4/1/2009 8:46:54 PM
yeah, at this point, and with the turnaround we've seen, I think they need to do just about whatever it takes to keep Cole, even if it means letting someone else go
