here comes that UVA collapse
12/31/2011 8:15:27 PM
Does "collapse too badly" mean getting a punt blocked and then losing a fumble on the next series? It's still early, they could recover.[Edited on December 31, 2011 at 8:16 PM. Reason : I really like their orang helmets, but I'm glad they didn't go with orange pants to match]
12/31/2011 8:15:53 PM
^ Yeah, that would qualify...Thankfully Auburn didn't get any points off that last one.Let's go Hoos!
12/31/2011 8:18:20 PM
LOL at UVA taking this one easily, good call!
12/31/2011 9:09:04 PM
UVA COULD have taken Auburn easily, but that didn't mean they would. If you were to ask my dad (UVA alumnus along with both of his brothers) what the defining characteristic is of UVA athletics he could immediately put his hands on his throat and make gagging sounds.Right now he and my uncle are probably watching the game and saying something along the lines of "well, just another Cavalier choke job."
12/31/2011 9:12:59 PM
do you have any stats to back that up?
12/31/2011 9:26:54 PM
Well since it's just the opinion of my dad and his brothers this is merely anecdotal, of course. I don't have any statistics for how often they've complained about UVA blowing games versus how many times they haven't complained about UVA blowing a game. Using the UNC crowd counting technique I'd say that they've complained about something of that nature during 66% of the games which I've seen with them.[Edited on December 31, 2011 at 9:35 PM. Reason : The notable exception being NCSU@UVA in 1996, when even my dad couldn't complain about UVA's play]
12/31/2011 9:33:12 PM
Poor UVA
12/31/2011 10:18:55 PM
UVA has played very well in this game but Auburn has outsmarted them and tricked them and gotten lucky numerous times.2 blocked punts, a 68-yard return, tons of random strange trick plays that worked... I don't watch Auburn, is their offense always relying on trick plays this much? I think it would be much closer without that, but I'm not familiar with them really.
12/31/2011 10:42:42 PM
I wouldnt call them trick plays (like a flea flicker) but their whole offense (especially when they dont have a freak like Newton) is based around misdirection and confusion
12/31/2011 11:34:46 PM
UVA is on the right track with London. I've grown tired of Beamer ball.
1/1/2012 1:19:14 AM
Sometimes it's hard to believe just how much faster the top third SEC schools look when playing non-SEC teams."Sluggish" wasn't a word I would have used to describe MSU but damned if Georgia isn't making them look slow.Early in the game though, Georgia could slow down. Of course SC is losing to Nebraska right now so it could just be that I didn't realize how fast the Bulldogs are (since Ala and LSU got the lion's share of coverage this year).

Finally Georgia has decided to score some points.Boykin with the Cam Newton Superman celebration after the PR for TD.[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 2:30 PM. Reason : .]

Gator bowl has the worst combined record of any bowl. Fuck this pointless postseason.
1/2/2012 2:43:55 PM
What? Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl had a 6-6 team playing a 6-7 team.Or did you mean conference record? ( 6-10 for Gator and 7-11 for Kraft)[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 3:13 PM. Reason : .]
1/2/2012 3:12:09 PM
I just assumed 6-6 was as bad as you could be to be in a bowl. Isn't the gator bowl still a really high bowl?
1/2/2012 3:13:51 PM
Nope. They gave up being a conference's #2 bowl and eventually wound up with the low-to-mid teams from the Big Ten and the SEC. They still have a good payout, but they kinda gave up on being a high level bowl.[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 3:17 PM. Reason : The Peach Bowl took their ACC #2]
1/2/2012 3:15:29 PM
Yeah, pretty frustrated with a lot of these bowls. Why are they playing 4 bowl games on a midafternoon Monday when a lot of people are at work? I can't even watch the first half of the Rose Bowl unless I leave early. Which I probably will.
1/2/2012 3:17:36 PM
I agree. Pretty strange to have 4 games with pretty high interest teams on at the exact same time....otherwise, this bowl season has not been that great

How did we miss recruiting this UGA qb?

i know i'm not working. sucks for ya'll.
1/2/2012 3:30:54 PM
Georgia: plz hold on to the ball
1/2/2012 3:31:55 PM
What am I missing here? Why the hell is Oregon favored vs Wisconsin by 4.5?!?!Is someone hurt or suspended or something?God I wish i'd seen this when it opened at 6. Truly bizarre.

penn state playin Houston in texasmich st playing georgia in flanebraska playing usc in floridawisconsin playing oregon in caliosu playing UF in floridapeople wonder why the SEC plays so well in bowls, well maybe because all the significant bowl games besides 2 are in SEC states. As I mentioned here before, the BCS (if it sticks around) needs to have a northern bowl site. NYC would be perfect (playing in the giants/jets stadium). [Edited on January 2, 2012 at 4:11 PM. Reason : ,]

I like how the ncaa allows oregon to rock chrome helmets in the bright sun. Yea thats fair

Yes, lets have a site where it's almost guaranteed to be cold and an area where no one gives a fuck about college football.
1/2/2012 4:34:00 PM
SC just won a good game in the Capital One bowl. Miles was killing it today on yards. Now if Wisconsin can just get this win, I'll be content. ^^ Yeah that's totally fair. Good job NCAA. I hope it doesn't affect RW's visibility. Nice helmets though.[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 4:35 PM. Reason : .]

1/2/2012 4:55:01 PM
What planet do you guys live on? Tickets are split 50 50 and the big dogs travel wherever. The bowls are where they are for a reason. Watching football in the cold sucks and walking around cold cities is not the ideal vacation. Notice how all of the big bowls are in all of the places with nice weather. LSU could play OSU in the sugar bowl and the fans would be split 50-50 and Alabama would show up in droves for a game in Singapore. Traveling is not an issue for major programs.[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 4:58 PM. Reason : why don't teams run fake fg on 3rd down in that situation?]
