How about just don't be so damn overly sensitive. It is a television show. A completely fake television show. Get upset over things that really matter.
4/26/2014 2:32:14 PM
never heard that one before
4/26/2014 2:37:37 PM
There is probably a reason. No one like people who whine about petty bullshit.
4/26/2014 2:57:20 PM
a redneck disregards discussion of feminist issues in media, coloring it as pussy shit.i'm shocked.and my 'allowed' point from the previous page is basically proven.shaming differing opinions is not merely 'disagreeing'anyway, interested to see tomorrow if there's any character development/fallout resulting from the fact that it was rape. but the way the showrunners are calling it not rape it makes it seem like there probably won't be.[Edited on April 26, 2014 at 3:31 PM. You guys are abunch of children. It's a fucking tv show with dragons.

Idk, shutting down discussion and putting your head in the sand when presented with other perspectives seems more child-like to me.

Obviously it was rape as depicted on screen. Then the question becomes: So what? It's basically the third worst thing Jamie has done on screen. Shoving a child out of a window and murdering his cousin in cold blood obviously the top two.The scene clearly didn't glorify rape culture. I doubt many people were watching that scene and thinking "Oh man, this is hot!"[Edited on April 26, 2014 at 3:59 PM. Reason : ]

Even as far as rape scenes go, I thought it was pretty tame, especially compared the standard level of brutality they bring to the violence on the show.Watch the movie Irreversible if you haven't seen it, it'll make you feel better
4/26/2014 4:04:50 PM
^the argument isn't that it's a particularly 'brutal' scene on par with irreversible etc.[Edited on April 26, 2014 at 4:22 PM. Reason : .]
4/26/2014 4:21:31 PM
Your argument is that you are upset with the creators, right? The whole thing about "we didnt plan on it being a rape scene"?
4/26/2014 9:00:22 PM
How is it rape if she liked it?
4/26/2014 11:08:59 PM
4/27/2014 7:37:58 AM
I don't know how the dragons are relevant
4/27/2014 7:51:02 AM
ITT we learn that playing the Feminist Card does not cause a epidemic of white knights. To settle this argument, if this was a show about lynching black folks, etc. And I felt that it was sooo terrible, I would not subscribe to HBO to see it [Edited on April 27, 2014 at 10:19 AM. Reason : .]

This is a fictional story with dragons. One woman had a ghost baby, and y'all are here crying about rape?/Thread
4/28/2014 2:17:21 AM
Did anything happen last night? Everyone is still talking about the rape from a week ago.
4/28/2014 7:13:35 AM
Yes there was more rape in this episode than the last one.
4/28/2014 7:44:46 AM
well there's ice demons now, so that's a thing
4/28/2014 7:45:14 AM
OMG! Rape last week and then this week they show more rape and sacrifice an innocent baby to the Gods(aka ice people)?!?!?SATAN IS IN THESE BOOKS! BOYCOTT THE SHOW! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! Solid episode.
4/28/2014 8:21:46 AM
Solid selection of tits in this episode all so.
4/28/2014 8:35:55 AM
4/28/2014 9:09:13 AM
i guess the white walkers are bolstering their numbers using the male babies that were always sacrificed?i just feel like its kind of weird they showed the white walkers on the move at the end of season 2, and since then they've hardly been mentioned except for when that one attacked sam and gilly.
4/28/2014 9:40:04 AM
^ Yeah wasn't there a scene near the end of last season when the onion guy gave the note to that head guy in Dragonstone (presumably about the Whitewalkers) and it was like, "This changes everything!!"But really nothing changed at allOr maybe I am just under the wrong impression about that
4/28/2014 9:45:13 AM
It seems like they're still trying to grow their army on Dragonstone. Can't do much without an army.
4/28/2014 9:49:25 AM
Yeah but he is still talking about growing his army so he can take the empty throne...nobody's mentioned anything about this startling news they gotmaybe the writers got tired of people saying, "Winter is coming"
4/28/2014 9:58:15 AM
4/28/2014 10:24:40 AM
Got a pretty rapey vibe from Margarey also
4/28/2014 11:09:55 AM
i really thought Margaery was going to jump Tommen in bed haha.and she can rape me anytime
4/28/2014 11:36:16 AM
So I don't wanna click the other thread for fear of spoilers, but why are book readers so mad now? Were the main white walkers never read about or are you mad that they never told you about how they create white walkers?
4/28/2014 12:07:56 PM
my guess is that overall last night's episode was one of the biggest single-episode departures from the books that we have seen so far. Changes to story-lines, additions of characters in parts of the story they don't exist in the books, a glance at something involving the Others that has not appeared in the books (yet at least), etc.I thought it was a decent episode even with a lot of stuff being different - depending on how they resolve the changes. But yeah, there were a lot of opportunities for book readers to be annoyed or surprised, especially if one is a book purist.
4/28/2014 12:48:21 PM
As a show watcher only, I didn't get why they had basically the same conversation last week as this week between Littlefinger and Sansa on Joffrey's poisoning. Only addition was that he was working with "someone" and then we learn it was Oleanna that actually did it at the reception. Feel like they could have just had the convo between she and Margaery to connect to she and Littlefinger as conspirators. Let's use those two minutes on the ship for something else.

-You-----------average TV watcher
4/28/2014 1:37:07 PM
I'm tired of the constant teasing about the others. Is there going to be anything actionable that happens with this race this season, or are thing going to string along the GoT's version of the Borg as long as they can?
4/28/2014 1:37:21 PM
4/28/2014 1:51:58 PM
Point of Clarification: So Tommen is 12 and Margaery is about 20?
4/28/2014 1:54:38 PM
In the show Probably. In the books tommen is 8 and she is 16 or 17
4/28/2014 3:08:23 PM
Since feminism decided to take over and cry about rape.
4/29/2014 1:11:41 PM
Yeah, I think they've all but admitted at this point that the scene was shot closer to the original text and then edited to seem more "rapey". Just a dumb decision and a poorly done scene. I don't mind most of the changes from the books, keeping in mind most of them had to be done due to budget constraints, and the entirely new content they've added has been very well done. The only problem I have is when the changes involve characters doing things that are not logically consistent. Like, why in the hell is Karl and his band of merry little rapers keeping a (now two) giant wolf dog alive in a crappy little pen? That thing consumes a ton of food and could kill all of them very easily if it ever escaped.
4/29/2014 1:28:07 PM
the backed up a shitty episode last week with an even worse episode this week
5/5/2014 8:24:37 AM
Yea, but this section of the book doesn't have much action, its all about building the story.
5/5/2014 9:28:40 AM
Reddit captures my thoughts exactly.
5/5/2014 9:30:59 AM
My GF told me to shut up with the complaining last night. I had to have said they changed stuff 10 times.
5/5/2014 9:32:30 AM
everytime they switch to brann's storyline, i groan and start browsing the internet on my phone till that scene is over.
