my most favorite shower in the world was WillemJoel's and his wifeys. we all went. had wine and hors de ouerves and basically had a small party for a few hours. they opened the presents after everyone left.thought it was SPECTACULAR
8/12/2011 3:21:49 PM
^ I like that idea.

^ i agree with your last statement! I never said i didn't want them to be a part of the wedding because they weren't going to the shower, that's silly.but let's pretend that you were a part of a bridal party (your bff is getting married) and were invited to the couples wedding shower; would you throw your own party at the same time as this wedding shower, and invite the wedding party?Hopefully the answer is 'No'. End point, it wasn't on purpose and all is fixed.

...^my bad. i see where people could've gotten confused.so does anyone understand the actual reason i was upset?
8/12/2011 4:58:45 PM
i do but i still think it was rather unreasonable how upset you seem to have gotten about it.
8/12/2011 4:59:34 PM
yeah, it sucks they planned a party on the day of your shower that they were invited to, but it seems you got upset and vented before asking questions, and you said some pretty strong things without even knowing what was going on.

I'm a bridesmaid in a Labor Day wedding and I just volunteered to put together the welcome bags for the hotel guests. 11 rooms have been booked thus far.. so I'm looking at putting together ~15 bags in total.I was thinking to do personalized labels for the water bottles, a few snacks here and there, and a brochure with directions to the ceremony, reception, and things to do around Nashville.Do you guys know of any cheap ways I can do this? I'm looking for cheap gift bags, a cheap way to either print or order the labels (and get them on time), and software that I can use to put together the brochure (I'm thinking to print at Kinko's).
8/12/2011 8:48:33 PM
Honestly I wouldn't bother with the labels on the water. That's just an unnecessary added expensive. For the gift bags, you could either order super cheap paper ones from an online store, or you could go a little nicer and do personalized canvas bags guests could reuse when grocery shopping. If you personalize them yourself, it's pretty cheap from my experience when I made mine. For the brochure, just use Word! If you don't know where to start they have a bajillion free templates online to get you started and I'm sure they have brochure ones that would be what you're looking for. And don't get them printed at Kinko's. They're expensive and were dicks to me when I was trying to get stuff printed there for my wedding. Staples was much more helpful and cheaper. For the snacks, I would choose things local to Nashville. For example, in our bags I put in Cheerwine, peanuts, Lance's crackers, pimento cheese straws, Moravian cookies, and tons of brochures from the Topsail tourism center. With the canvas bags each bag cost me less than $10 to make, and they could have been even cheaper if I didn't get the cheese straws and cookies.

For the Nashville thing, here's a nice article:http://iloveswmag.com/2011/07/20/southern-hospitality-nashville-tote/Just to give you some inspiration. Or to use their graphic! Most of the items picked are probably out of price range, but, just some inspiration for you.[Edited on August 13, 2011 at 12:43 PM. Reason : .]

ok guys, a friend of mine is getting married next spring/summer and i'm going to be the closest bridemaid so i have to help plan. now....she would like a clemson themed wedding since that's where her and the soon-to-be-hubby met. any ideas for a classy, non-tacky, but theme wedding? don't have a budget quite yet (we're just starting out!) but it won't be outrageous.

Okay, so what I was envisioning as a "Clemson Wedding" was looking horrible in my mind. But these are some quick things I found online that actually look like they could work well. This one uses more of the purples, and the orange is an accent color. I think it actually looks pretty good.http://www.clemsongirl.com/2010/06/wedding-wednesdays-part-ii-jennifer.htmlThe Clemson Conference Center and Inn looks pretty nice. I like this look if you're focus is more on the orange: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.407129566936.175642.199248546936&type=1#!/photo.php?fbid=407129676936&set=a.407129566936.175642.199248546936&type=1&theaterHere's a wedding that pulls off the orange: http://coreycagle.blogspot.com/2010/01/charleston-wedding-at-francis-marion.htmlI think the cake is going to be difficult to incorporate without looking gaudy. This is the least gaudy cake I could find: And something like this just doesn't even look like a wedding cake to me at all: Here's another example of purple: http://www.clemsongirl.com/2011/06/wedding-wednesday-true-clemson-love.htmlActually, that website features different wedding things every Wednesday, all of which are Clemson related. Like this one, which I'm really liking:

I dunno if this has been asked already, if so, please just direct me to the answer. Question is: How do you tell your friend she can't sing at your wedding? Google was not any help. Thanks!
8/14/2011 8:38:56 PM
8/14/2011 8:46:26 PM
^^ Tell her she can't.I don't understand why this is hard.
8/14/2011 10:08:05 PM
I don't either. Some girls(people) don't know how to say "no" I guess. [Edited on August 14, 2011 at 10:12 PM. Reason : -]

somy sister's bridal shower is coming up.. and I'm hostingshe likes tea, and she likes whimsical... I was thinking of having a whimsical tea party (Alice in Wonderland-esque but not Disney) and making really, really nice cupcakes for her and everyone. I want to do something nice for her and while I can be crafty, I know I can put my heart and soul into food So I was thinking of using one of these invites as inspiration + alice in wonderland... thoughts?I like the second one the best
8/14/2011 11:15:15 PM
maybe you could mix and do a tea cup and a cupcake instead of 2 tea cups.
8/14/2011 11:53:54 PM
I didn't even pay attention to the order I posted those in.. I meant to say I like the first one best (i thought I had put it second)
8/15/2011 12:34:17 AM
Those are both too freakin' cute.I'd just flip a coin because you really can't go wrong.
8/15/2011 12:54:55 AM
LOVE the first one. And maybe you can hit up some thrift stores and get a bunch of different tea cups, and then send those home as party favors.
8/15/2011 7:22:01 AM
I LOVE the idea of a tea party!
8/15/2011 8:25:26 AM
i'm going to have dinner with a friend of mine on friday night who's bridesmaids are all being bitches. her fiance (a good friend of mine) told me to offer to step up to be a bridesmaid
8/15/2011 8:57:48 AM

8/15/2011 10:08:39 AM
Soooooo cute LK
8/15/2011 10:22:03 AM
that sounds great LK yeah I'd like to see some pics - the only thing is, I'm trying to think of ways to make hers more whimsy and not have the hats (because I know she wouldn't like it...) but I do LOVE the different tea cups idea![Edited on August 15, 2011 at 11:26 AM. Reason : but I hope my mom takes note of my hint for my bridal shower later on.. I want big hats ]
8/15/2011 11:26:14 AM
My bridesmaids threw me a High Tea on the High Seas bridal party. Think Pirates of the Caribbean meets tea party. It was great.
8/15/2011 1:39:25 PM
That's awesome... She loves dragons and medieval stuff (but not the Renaissance fair type girl) so I wonder if I could incorporate that + whimsy + tea party
8/15/2011 1:40:41 PM
For the tea party/ cupcake party- you can bake the cake in teacups! http://www.partybluprintsblog.com/the-menu/dessert/teacup-cakes
8/15/2011 2:06:13 PM
^ ahhh!!!! awesome I bet I could give those as favors plus a cute little bag of loose leaf tea with some type of note attached
8/15/2011 3:15:51 PM
Doesn't wolfpackgrrr have a green tea flavored cupcake recipe?
8/15/2011 7:21:09 PM

those all sound tasty!
8/15/2011 9:07:16 PM
We didn't like the cheesecake cupcakes from the baker we tried and don't really feel like going through the process of searching for another one so we're just going to add it to the list of DIY stuff for the wedding. Wish me luck since she doesn't want to do it!
8/16/2011 5:52:56 PM
You should hire Sam
8/16/2011 5:59:05 PM
Gonna do a test run tonight just so I have an excuse to make dessert.
8/16/2011 7:48:50 PM
Yeah I'd like that green tea cupcake recipe, wolfpack!! you posted it in the cupcake thread, right?and ummmm when is your wedding? ^ I would totally be willing to make them (depending on the date seeing as I'm out of state)
8/16/2011 9:41:39 PM
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUI waited too long to order my sister's bridal invites.... it's looking like wedding paper divas is out because I can't afford $30 to get them by 8/22 any good places where I can get cute invites??

8/17/2011 12:44:03 AM
that was with the rush order I'm going to go to this stationary place in Bham tomorrow.. might be writing everything out by hand :\
8/17/2011 1:00:31 AM
I ordered business cards from vistaprint that were supposed to take 10 business days to get to my house and they took 3.
8/17/2011 7:19:00 AM
If you're handy with Photoshop you could always make cute email invites. Don't have to worry about shipping. More eco friendly too
8/17/2011 7:44:19 AM

I would do email if it weren't for the fact we have quite a few older women who don't know how to work a computer
