^^there's a much better chance he ends up at memphis than baylor. memphis at least makes some sense, and if he ends up at baylor, expect the NCAA to look into closing their program down.
3/5/2009 5:46:56 PM
no, they wouldn't. baylor did nothing illegal by hiring wall's former aau coach. if wall goes to baylor because he would like to play for his aau coach again, it'll be a good hire by baylor. slightly underhanded and morally questionable, but not against any rules.
3/5/2009 5:52:31 PM
^word is that the NCAA didn't like it though and they're looking into the wall/baylor recruitment already. with some sketchy history in Baylor's past, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop some sanctions on them to make an example.
3/5/2009 6:10:28 PM
did you watch the outside the lines on this subject recently? they know how it works and it's been going on for years. billy packer (cough) even mentioned lsu hiring press maravich from state, pretty much assuming pete would play for his dad, where ever he coached. It does seem unfair but it's not illegal.the bigger travesty is taking place at usc. they've hired the fathers of highly ranked recruits so that their sons will go there. that's not even the worst part. because they are children of university employees, they receive free tuition and don't take up a basketball scholarship. that's seems pretty sleazy to me. then again, tim floyd pretty much leaves a trail of slime where ever he walks.
3/5/2009 6:44:16 PM
the USC situation is shady too, and it's becoming a joke (Lil' Romeo is on roster...) but Baylor isn't one of the NCAA's big cash cows, so they're more likely to do something about it at Baylor.
3/5/2009 6:46:42 PM
dear john wall, baylor players and coaches kill people. come to state, where only fans kill people.love always, bjc
3/5/2009 6:55:50 PM
i believe baylor coaches have a history of paying their players (which is interesting considering their shitty basketball history) so they do have that

they should make the coaches have to be there for at least 2 years or something before the kid steps on campus. players already have to sit out a year if they transfer
3/5/2009 11:14:08 PM
and how would that affect the john wall situation?
3/5/2009 11:17:50 PM
i guess it wouldn't since that's clearly within my 2 year suggestion. i have a good feeling about him coming though (which also doesn't substantively help "The John Wall Situation".
3/5/2009 11:21:26 PM
^^^^ I got drunk and got in a fight with my really good friend. Does that count.
3/5/2009 11:40:33 PM
..........
3/5/2009 11:45:43 PM
...all of the coaches have to be there for 2 years before they can recruit players? seriously?
3/5/2009 11:53:49 PM
i think that was a serious suggestionso instead of JJ Hickson, Tracy Smithwe could have walk ons instead
3/5/2009 11:56:32 PM
if i may, i think what he means to say is that someone like clifton has to be at baylor for 2 years before john wall can go there.
3/6/2009 1:32:32 AM
which would suck if a guy who really deserves a high profile coaching job happens to be interested in one that's at a school where a top recruit has been a long-time fan of.
3/6/2009 6:29:38 AM
John Wall's timing with 'I won't end up at Baylor' made me laugh. What is a better situation for recruiting Wall? A - We win a game in the ACCT. Go to the NIT. Win two games and then out. Then Lowe can begin the 'focused' recruiting of wall. B- We exit the NIT early and Lowe has time to immediately focus his energy on Wall. [Edited on March 6, 2009 at 8:32 AM. Reason : df]
3/6/2009 8:31:13 AM
The longer we can continue to play the better with wall. if we could win the nit or make the tourney somehow it'd be best.that and land cousins

yeah there were some unflattering comments about John posted by some known UNC fans. I mean I've heard the rumors too...the fact is, John hasn't been in trouble with the law ever, he hasn't been in trouble at school since like 2005, his grades are in good shape, and he has matured beyond anything people could have imagined. That said, there have been some articles written by these same hacks that perpetuate the "john wall is a headcase" rumors, that eventually make their way around the country. The only thing they have on him at this point is that he plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and has a bit of an attitude on the court. Other than that, what can you say? its necessary to have an attitide when you play to be the best.
3/6/2009 10:30:57 AM
simonn ^ (way up) yes that's what i meant, i thought it was obvious. But if a school hires a coach, (in one of those "sub-regional director of weight lifting" positions) then he should have some kind of probationary period at the school before he can bring in players he formerly coached. It wouldn't totally get rid of the problem, but alot can happen in 2 years, and it would at least force the university to have to bite the bullet on a salary. it was just a thought, ftw!
3/6/2009 10:32:46 AM
^ wolfAApack - that ought to make it clear whose jealous of whom. i've never heard of a state fan trying to sabotage any of UNX's recruits. Once they get there that's a different story; sabotage away
3/6/2009 10:35:22 AM
^you could have edited that in to your previous post.anyway, i was reading the comments section of that article and i went to look at the first comment and all of a sudden the comments have disappeared. is it just me or is anyone else seeing this?
3/6/2009 11:09:41 AM
You are correct. They are not there anymore.
3/6/2009 11:14:01 AM
i like the timing of the story. john gets on plane to baylor, someone hands him sports section.fuck baylor

goddamn, it feels like I've been hoping John Wall comes to state for a long time. I can't wait til he decides, and I can stop having to hear about it. ... (and maybe watch him play some epic fucking ball next year?)
3/6/2009 11:18:50 AM
I agree I can't wait either. Hopefully he'll be deciding soon. So he's visiting Baylor this weekend, high school basketball season is ending soon, time is running out!
3/6/2009 11:25:40 AM
I haven't been keeping up with recruiting much these days...but has he given a time table for when he's going to decide??
3/6/2009 11:47:34 AM
I think there is speculation that he'll take his final 2 OV's(one a team in NC so us or Duke) and probably decide in May.
3/6/2009 11:48:01 AM
Yeah. I've heard April or May.
3/6/2009 11:54:17 AM
april at the earliest...he has said he wants to finish this high school season before he decides
3/6/2009 12:00:17 PM
^didn't his HS season end a few nights ago?
3/6/2009 12:35:33 PM
you're probably right...are there any other tournaments though like state tournaments or is that what recently ended?maybe he said the end of the semester, but that wouldnt make sense to my "april" reference since i'm assuming the school year ends near the end of may?i dunno, for some reason i thought i heard april
3/6/2009 2:13:32 PM
I thought it was the end of the college season including the tourney.[Edited on March 6, 2009 at 2:17 PM. Reason : ]
