What Goose Island beers should I be on the lookout for? They just started releasing in NC.
11/28/2012 9:43:37 AM
depends on what they're sending.their normal lineup is just ok.their barrel aged series are good to excellent.[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 9:55 AM. Reason : this year's juliet was one of my favorite things i've had]
11/28/2012 9:53:59 AM
normal lineup is all we'll get for awhile. Honkers, IPA, etc.
11/28/2012 10:00:16 AM
they're talking about us getting the normal lineup soon too, but with matilda and sofie to hold us over.maybe ill drink that bottle of sofie tonightno sense in hanging onto it if i can get it at my leisure soon
11/28/2012 10:52:19 AM
Sofie is one i'm very excited about, if and when it finally arrives. Anchor Christmas 2012 is much better than 11.
11/28/2012 11:54:18 AM
you can get sofie, pj, and matilda in 4packs too, iirci'm down with that
11/28/2012 11:58:51 AM
Matilda & Sofie are excellent for the money.Out of their normal stuff, I'd say go IPA. (& Christmas Ale if you get it)Not confirmed yet, but I *think* Denver might get it's first batch of BCBS today or tomorrow. It's really hush hush and I haven't seen or heard a peep from anyone, only two stores have both said this week will be nothing short of epic.Picked up 2x Abyss already this week.Small trade + 1 of the Abyss I picked up yesterday..[Edited on November 28, 2012 at 1:27 PM. the Goose Island entrance into the NC market is causing such an uproar among the devoted craft collective here. and now there are reports that the original Goose Island CEO is stepping down and AB execs are taking over the top spots in the company.
11/28/2012 1:35:26 PM
don't forget the brewmaster for the barrel program left in the last week or two too.his new ventures seemed neat.
11/28/2012 1:48:24 PM
11/28/2012 1:48:42 PM
sure would be nice if my company's firewall didn't start blocking BA this week . where will i read all the doomsday rants?
11/28/2012 1:53:45 PM
if they were smart they'd block http://www.hidemyass.com/ too
11/28/2012 1:58:48 PM

Just bought my 2nd 12 pack of Cold Mountain this week. Probably gonna hold on to this one to sip on in the new year. In the meantime the last few times I've been to the FS it is all I've had to drink I'm glad that Dragon's Milk has been back on tap...but I'm not too excited that it's now $7/glass
11/30/2012 3:52:20 PM
That NODA Pacific reign was delicious. I should have gotten two.
11/30/2012 4:21:15 PM
Glad to see not all of the Pacific Reign bottles were flat. The market should have had this beer a month ago.
11/30/2012 7:25:18 PM

Tried to pick up a growler of Gingerbread Stout at the Hardywood Brewery last night but they were out (more coming next week though). Had to settle for the Mo Rye'd Rye Pale Ale, which is pretty damn good itself.
12/1/2012 8:03:43 PM
Got a bomber of Sam Adams Gingerbread Stout from Whole Foods, along with some Highland Cold Mountain. Planning to consume within end of month.
12/1/2012 10:24:15 PM
really wanting to try that gingerbread stout.Picked up some Dogfishhead Miles Davis, Ommegang Abbey Ale, and some New Belgium Snow Day tonight.
12/2/2012 6:44:27 PM
Stone Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout - this was a tough one to finish. strong mint up front, but a harsh unpleasant finish. glad it was only a 12oz split two ways.Terrapin Liquid Bliss - was told this was a "liquid Reese's Cup". I didn't pick up flavors that strong. I'm not a big peanut butter fan, but the flavors in this beer were very balanced. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's almost a tease, with the flavors up front leaving before you can just get enough. A little pricey as all Terrapin beers are these days.

hill farmstead third anniversary festival on my goddamned 30th birthdayhappy birthday present to me?maybe.
12/4/2012 12:23:11 PM
Was just up in VT last week - definitely recommended. The brewery visit itself isn't much, just an in and out retail deal with a quick tasting, but the setting is awesome and would be a great place to camp. Stayed at some cool places and did some nice hikes as well. Already keeping an eye on either an anniversary or harvest fest at HF.
12/4/2012 12:54:25 PM
Nice little haul, totally want a Juicy, heard great things about it.
12/4/2012 1:14:32 PM
I'm getting ready to hit up a couple craft beer stores this weekend to get a few bottles for my father-in-law. I need some recommendations for some new, good brews, any suggestions? He isnt really into IPAs, more into ambers, stouts and porters, the more complex the betterI've already got Terrapin Liquid Bliss, Dogfish Miles Davis Bitches Brew and Pisgah Valdez on the list (thanks jeepin4x4)

12/5/2012 10:54:48 AM

12/5/2012 12:05:50 PM
^^ heh. I asked for this Terrapin dog collar with a built in beer bottle opener:http://terrapinbeer.com/store/#!/~/product/category=1034894&id=4384060I bought the Boulevard smokestack gift set for myself. Haven't had any of their beers and the tulip looked cool.Mother Earth's Silent Night is a pretty solid seasonal release. Bought it for a friend last year and it was well received. Not sure when it comes out.[Edited on December 5, 2012 at 3:05 PM. Reason : ::]

Wow, nice haul, how much did you spend on all that?
12/5/2012 9:49:15 PM
So how much that run you for all of that?
12/5/2012 9:52:04 PM
Too much... about $260. I'm hosting a farewell party on Friday for two friends who are moving to NYC, so I figure I'll bring out a few of those bottles for people there who will appreciate them. The rest should get me through the holidays and beyond.Guy at the store told me they were getting Deschutes Abyss in tomorrow, otherwise I would have added a few bottles of that to the haul. Now, I'm not so sure my wife will let me go back to get them. [Edited on December 5, 2012 at 9:56 PM. Reason : Abyss]
