I don't want to work for tepper
1/3/2023 7:44:33 PM
I’d work for a dude with unlimited resources who is trying to save face after his first/only bad hire
1/3/2023 9:29:37 PM
Nah, he's a terrible boss and i would probably kill myself
1/3/2023 10:07:36 PM
If that were the case I’d probably tell you to call 1-800-273-8255

1/3/2023 10:12:00 PM
I would take Harbaugh 1000 times out of 1000, but honestly Tepper and the Panthers are going to get destroyed if they don't hire Wilks. That said Tepper isn't going to spend the money Denver will be able to offer Harbaugh.
1/4/2023 7:46:15 AM
^i thought sean payton was going to denver?
1/4/2023 9:58:24 AM
I think the loss on Sunday to TB makes it easier to not retain Wilks. I’ve been on the Wilks bandwagon and it’s obvious the team has played better under him. But blowing a lead 14-3 with postseason on the line probably might give them reason enough to look at other candidates. I also think hiring Harbaugh makes it easier to excuse not retaining him. If you go hire a coach with limited experience, lacking a proven track record then they deserve to get criticized for not keeping Wilks. I think Harbaugh is proven enough that media and fans are gonna agree that you take Harbaugh’s resume over Wilks’. I’d be cool with keeping Wilks. But I think you take the proven commodity over him if the Harbaugh interest is real

Denver's ownership group has more money than Tepper and they are still new. If Harbaugh is Denver's guy they will get it done. They pretty much can outbid anyone for any coach on the market. And after the disaster with Rhule will Tepper be willing to spend that much on another college coach, even one with NFL experience.
1/4/2023 12:09:15 PM
Tepper is worth nearly $12 billionunless the bidding war for Harbaugh gets into the billions, it doesn’t matter how much more money the Denver ownership group hasHarbaugh is much more than a college coach and the Rhule failure shouldn’t factor in hiring him at all. they’ve already had talks, for fucks sake[Edited on January 4, 2023 at 12:28 PM. 1/4/2023 12:27:30 PM
I'd also argue is one of the most successful modern-day coaches in the NCAA and NFL. He would absolutely be a slam dunk hire even more so than Payton in my opinion.
1/4/2023 1:14:21 PM
What amount would be too much for you? Or is Harbaugh the guy and any price is worth it.Belichick is the highest paid coach at $20 million a year, is Harbaugh worth that?

it’s not my moneyhe’s worth whatever offer he signs

Steve Smith with another snub in the HOF finalist voting
1/5/2023 10:08:21 AM
^^ yes I agree. I don’t give a shit what amount the billionaire owner offers to the next HC. Money really isn’t an issue here.

1/5/2023 1:47:42 PM
Yes, i consider Torry Holt and Reggie Wayne to be way better than Steve Smith.
1/5/2023 2:25:30 PM
why, because their QBs were way better?
1/5/2023 2:26:02 PM
he gets giddy whenever he thinks he has a chance to shit on Steve Smithit’s weird[Edited on January 5, 2023 at 3:30 PM. Reason : .]
1/5/2023 3:30:09 PM
It is just an objective fact that Torry Holt was better than Steve Smith. Sure Smith ended up with slightly more career receiving yards (14731 to 13382), but it took him 46 more games! That's the equivalent of 3 full seasons! Smith is a classic Hall of Very Good player. A guy who was good and played for a long time so his cumulative stats look much better than how he performed in individual seasons. Holt was top 10 in receiving yards 8 times in his career, Smith only had 4. Same with receptions, 5 top 10 performances for Holt and only 2 for Smith. Oh what about touchdowns? Holt again doubles up Smith, 4 to 2 top 10 finishes. Being good for a long time doesn't make you great. And if you want to talk about quarterbacks, Holt played the majority of his career with Marc Bulger who was not a very good QB. I'm not sure if he's any better than Delhomme. They're both kinda shitty.[Edited on January 5, 2023 at 4:19 PM. Reason : Look a whole post about Steve Smith and no mention of him blindsiding multiple teammates]
1/5/2023 4:19:03 PM
that looks like a better résumé to me, as opposed to a way better résumé
1/5/2023 4:28:22 PM
Looks way better to me. Plus Steve Smith loses points for being terrible at color commentary on Panthers preseason games.
1/5/2023 4:52:16 PM
he was fine, which is more than ok for a preseason gameagain, your need to constantly shit on him is weird
1/5/2023 4:58:56 PM
I'm not really shitting on him here, just saying that both Holt and Wayne are much more deserving of the HOF. It's not a slight to say that two players are better than him. He's the best Panthers receiver of all time. And in the top 5 of Panthers players regardless of position. (I'd put Kuechly as an easy #1 on that list despite his short career, followed by Peppers and Cam)But he was absolute garbage on TV and should stick to not being on TV/radio. I will shit on him for that.[Edited on January 5, 2023 at 5:03 PM. Reason : -->]
1/5/2023 5:03:15 PM
Cam’s the greatest player in franchise history Smitty is great on the NFL Network pre/post-gameReggie Wayne has pretty similar numbers, had one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time throwing to him, and had an offensive minded coach his entire careerSmitty had Jake Delhomme and John Fox, and was drafted to be a kick returner[Edited on January 5, 2023 at 5:47 PM. Reason : .]
1/5/2023 5:34:12 PM
I think smitty is a HOFer. I also think the dudes ahead of him on the ballot should be ahead of him. It’s fine imo
1/5/2023 7:36:31 PM
Imagine if Smith had a HOF QB and played in a pass-heavy offense with another HOF WR on the opposite side of the field for defenses to focus on. Or imagine if Wayne or Torry played in a John Fox run-first offense, with no other star WR on the field aside from Muhsin Muhammad for the defense to focus on. I mean Torry and Reggie weren't even the best wide receiver on their own teams for multiple seasons.I don't know how Ronde Barber's ass is a finalist, when Smitty routinely torched him on the field.]
1/5/2023 8:12:30 PM
Again, so Marc Bulger is a hall of fame qb now? Because that's who Holt played with from ~2002 until he finished with the Rams. And he was demonstratively the best wr on his team for every season except his rookie year. His numbers would have been even better if Isaac Bruce hadn't been a touchdown vulture. On the other hand, Smith had his best season by far in a team where he was the only receiving option (2005, the only other competent receiver on that roster was an ancient Ricky Proehl - Keary Colbert and Drew Carter couldn't combine to catch a cold.) He benefited from playing without another good wr. Had 70 (!) more catches than any other panther that year. They brought in Keyshawn Johnson the next year and Smith's numbers dropped.
1/6/2023 12:11:19 AM
nobody is arguing against Holt being a Hall of Famer
1/6/2023 12:17:07 AM
The way PFHOF voting works, someone else would have to left out of consideration for Smith to me a finalist. It's not like baseball where voters can just vote for as many as they'd like. It makes most sense to discuss his candidacy against the WRs who are finalists. He is decidedly below them. Wayne much like Holt has basically double the seasons in top 10 receiving categories as Smith. So yeah, there's a good reason why those two are finalists and Smith is not. Also, I respect your belief that Cam is the greatest panther, but i disagree. I think if defensive players won MVPs then Kuechly would have won at least one, but that is a QB award for the most part now and has been that way my entire life. Kuechly was a 5 time All-Pro. Cam was a 1 time All-Pro. Maybe i should have listed Cam second over Peppers, but based on their careers, to me Kuechly is far and away the best Panthers of all time. I do grant that Cam got me back interested in the Panthers after not liking them at all during the Delhomme years.]
1/6/2023 12:49:39 AM
Smitty and Wayne have remarkably similar career stats, and when you put those stats in context, I’d pick Smitty over Wayne. especially considering Smitty was a 1st Team All-Pro as a returner his rookie season. in regards to Kuechly v. Cam and 1st Team All-Pro counts, it’s much more difficult for a QB to be named 1st Team All-Pro than it is for a LB. the margin is pretty thin between the two of them, but when you factor in who each of them had around them while on the field, Luke had a bit more talent around him than Cam. Cam was the Panthers. Luke was an all-time great who played for the Panthers. there’s a difference.[Edited on January 6, 2023 at 1:10 AM. Reason : .]

An absolute hideous display of football. But they won! Which hurts their draft pick! So that was fun
1/8/2023 4:02:23 PM
it doesn't change their draft pick at all[Edited on January 8, 2023 at 4:06 PM. Reason : 9th before today, 9th currently]

1/8/2023 6:27:39 PM
yes, of course emotion plays a part when discussing the greatest player in franchise historyI realize that you don’t have much of a heart, but it does matterthe 2015 offensive roster was him, 3rd Leg Greg, and a bunch of dudes. he was the offense.

1/26/2023 2:13:42 PM
^ yeah that’s how I feel. Reich is fine. Maybe he’ll do good! But it’s not a super exciting hire. And I’m not sure there was a realistic guy out there that would’ve been super exciting this year. *shrug*
1/26/2023 2:23:50 PM
didn’t realize that Reich is 61I’d much rather go with the 53 year old Wilks, who proved he could do itit’s laughable how much they’re leaning into the nostalgia of Reich being our first ever QB[Edited on January 26, 2023 at 2:27 PM. Reason : .]
1/26/2023 2:26:57 PM
This was 100% expected. Tepper clearly wanted an offensive guy. Wilks never had a chance. Oh well at least it wasn't Moore. Reich couldn't win when it counted with some very good Colts teams. Don't know how confident i am in him being able to win in Charlotte with an offense that is decidedly less talented than any team he had in Indy.At best you're getting a guy who coaches 6-7 years and retires. At worst you're looking at another coach in 2 years.
1/26/2023 3:07:18 PM
sounds like Moore came in 2ndthat’s fucking insanethere’s gonna be so much (deserved) backlash to this and it was laughably easy to make the hire and not have to deal with any of it[Edited on January 26, 2023 at 3:33 PM. Reason : .]
1/26/2023 3:29:49 PM
Yep, not wild about Reich. I can see the upside for him finally leading us to the QB promised land, but I'm not optimistic. $1 says we trade up in the draft to get "his guy" at quarterback
1/26/2023 5:11:17 PM
Well we should have explored trading up for a qb regardless of who the coach was going to be.You don't really win super bowls with free agent retread qbs. Maybe Lamar Jackson becomes available through trade (although I'd be willing to bet he'd cost as much or more to acquire plus he'd be due a huge payday) but other than that there's not a single QB available that is going to be THE guy.]
1/26/2023 5:14:42 PM
I mean, yes, but Reich makes me all the more sure the move will be stupid, especially given the QB purgatory his Colts had been in
