NVAX has some pretty big milestones coming up in the next few weeks. Could still be early enough for some nice GAINZ if the results continue to look positive. Then again, it's a biotech, so be cautious.

^^^^ Buy calls and sell higher calls to lower your cost basis. With Ebay I bought 60 calls at $1.31 and sold 65 call at $.64, lowering my basis to $.67/share, while capping my gains at $5 (minus the $.67 out of pocket).

I had been on the computer for 6 hours straight and was really busy around market close and suddenly thought today was the 17th and panic sold a bunch of 1 week options. They weren't worth much but I was in another world for like an hour before realizing today was Tuesday. wtf.

$MRNA, today, cracked into the list of Top 20 most valuable biopharma companies, measured by market cap. It is the only company in the Top 20 without an approved product.
7/15/2020 11:07:10 AM
My first order of business this morning was an MRNA stop loss @ 82.00. I think I might jump back and forth with that and INO since INO has oscillated downward. Hope I don't get burned.

I'm done with robinhood. Placed an order to buy a bunch of puts on Facebook above value just before open and they didn't fill it. of course it went into the money 10 minutes later. They never fill options when the price is trending in that direction. Going to open an account with TD this afternoon.[Edited on July 20, 2020 at 9:48 AM. Reason : k]

Both are good long term holds with solid dividends.Anyone rolling the dice on TSLA calls going into earnings? I just looked and the premiums are crazy. Everyone on Robinhood must be hoping for a repeat of February earnings.
7/21/2020 3:06:54 PM
what are the advantages of using robinhood vs a more established platform?
7/21/2020 4:48:28 PM
Its easy and free like a cell phone game but I just learned yesterday that all free stock data has a 15 minute delay which cost me a huge loss.
7/21/2020 5:01:40 PM
Fidelity is also easy and free. I've not used RH, but can tell you Active Trader Pro (the Fidelity platform) is super helpful and powerful for day trading.
7/21/2020 5:06:01 PM
With the big names going to $0 trades, not sure why anyone would pick a small platform.
7/21/2020 6:49:59 PM
The big names all charge options per contract fees but I guess its low enough to not worry about.

Horosho on a previous post did you check the OI, bid, ask and size before setting. I’m only asking because I can usually get a fill if I hit the bid ask and the size is there. If you did all of that than that’s an issue. I trade for a wirehouse for a living. If the volume is high enough you should hit bid/ask on a limit. If volume is too high market orders (sometimes automated) always take priority. No OI the trader is probably sleeping on his jersey mikes not paying attention. I’m not saying you didn’t do all of this just trying to help.[Edited on July 21, 2020 at 9:03 PM. Reason : .][Edited on July 21, 2020 at 9:28 PM. Reason : Spell check and I hate to get names wrong]

Sorry for the multiple posts but a lot of guys on the CBOE like to go pound beers at lunch so there may be a delay mid day on executions so a call to the trade desk if available may catch some attention and get your order working faster.

Looks like a good shot 13% off ah and a 4% yield. I don’t trust the FDA to make a good decision so is still speculative but the yield is compelling given the idea that if they pass inspection total return should look good. Good luck![Edited on July 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Reason : .]

Hmmmm...https://www.kshb.com/news/coronavirus/independence-sisters-participating-in-clinical-trial-to-find-vaccine-for-covid-19____________________________________________________________________KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When COVID-19 started to impact the Kansas City, Missouri, area, sisters Ellie and Heather were nervous. Ellie even admitted being scared to leave her house.During a late-night dive into an internet rabbit hole about the novel coronavirus, Heather discovered the Center for Pharmaceutical Research in Kansas City was conducting clinical trials on potential COVID-19 vaccines.“I think I called the next day and I qualified,” explained Heather. The Center for Pharmaceutical Research asked us not to use the patients’ last names.By the end of April, Heather received an injection for a potential vaccine from the pharmaceutical company Inovio.Heather told her sisters about the experience and four days later, Ellie had her first appointment. She said her pastor had just challenged congregants to step up during these trying times when she got the text from her sister, like divine intervention.“I do believe in that,” Ellie said. The sisters, who grew up in Independence, Missouri, said they’ve always been close and it’s been great having each other to lean on during the clinical trial.Inovio announced 94 percent of the participants in phase one of its clinical trial, which the sisters are a part of, showed signs of success.“I think they’re going feel very good to tell their grandchildren, assuming this all works out, that they were very much involved with the solution to the first pandemic we’ve had in over 100 years,” said Doctor John Ervin, founder of the Center for Pharmaceutical Research. The U.S. government selected Inovio and several other vaccines for Operation Warp Speed in an effort to create a vaccine by January 2021.Ervin said time is of the essence to protect public health.“That’s our hope and prayer, that we get it going fast,” he said. “So long as they’ve proven to be safe, which so far that’s what we’ve seen, get it going. It usually takes years to get something like this to market, we just need to get this as quickly as we can.”What makes Inovio’s potential vaccine different than a traditional vaccine is it uses DNA instead of a live or weakened version of the virus. So the injections the sisters received did not include any part of the coronavirus. They received a genetic sequence to basically trick their cells into creating immunity.Ervin said regulatory agencies have never approved this type of vaccine for human use, but he’s optimistic this could be the first. He said DNA vaccines have many advantages, particularly that clinics don’t need to refrigerate them, so they can go to all corners of the world whether there is electricity or not.“I would just be thrilled. It would be so fantastic,” Heather said when asked about whether the vaccine receives approval. Her daughter, who lives with her, came down with COVID-19. Heather’s tests have all come back negative, making her wonder if the vaccine had anything to do with it.Nonetheless, both sisters are not pushing their luck. They wear masks, stay home, avoid crowds and follow all the public health guidelines.Neither one of them has shown any side effects from the injection. They will continue to get blood work done as part of the trial until April 2021 but will receive no more injections.Ellie is a middle school history teacher and can’t help but think she’s making history now.“The thought of that is super exciting for me. I’m hopeful, hopeful that it works,” she said. Her older sister has found peace in the trial.“For me, it really helped calm me down a little bit,” she admitted. “I felt like I was actively doing something. It was helpful for me to be able to do something instead of just worry.”____________________________________________________________________[Edited on July 22, 2020 at 4:17 PM. Reason : Yes Heather, INO's vaccine probably has everything to do with it.]

^This has been pretty much my investment strategy. Ride the GAINZ of the MAGA stocks, keep stops tight, buy dips like today. I am doing a lot of buying.

I survived the FB puts and went from 79% loss this morning to 214% gain seeling just before close. I'm never going in on options like that again. Boy that was scary. I have one more big PUT coming up on BA them I'm out.

Do most of you guys get info from Reddit? I've essentially ignored the market and pumped money into my Vanguard Roth account when I had extra cash. But then I was given some options through my company Avalara (which has done well). Agonizing over the price every day has made me take interest in individual stocks. I read stuff like Seeking Alpha or Motley Fool but from what I can tell, no one fucking knows what they are doing. I read we could peak at $100 but then shit got crazy and hell, I'm not doing anything right now.

I'm suggesting trading yields sub-optimal results for most people. For those who receive a superior return, it was often just luck or even recklessness. Buy and hold forever.
7/26/2020 9:17:54 PM
Yeah, I thought it was pretty much proven at this point. I think I read that only 10% of money managers beat the market. Most of my money is in boring 401k funds, but I like to play around with my other accounts from time to time.

Definitely not I know plenty of day traders who make all their money off of a relatively small, personal pocket.
