But what is the motive? Is it to just generate for revenue? Or is it some scheme to try and get companies to hire more Americans. I’m kind of on board with the second idea, but it will definitely make things more expensive, and I’m sure the law of unintended consequences will play in at some point. Just don’t know what those consequences would be.

In the cafeteria at Amazon one day I counted something like 75 to 100 people. I was the only white dude, one white female. The vast majority were Indian (60 of them) with about 15 or so Asian.

When I worked with Google and was at their offices a bunch in 2017/2018 it always seemed heavily asian and a few Indian. When I was still in NC and working in and around Cary/Morrisville I was alway one of 1-5 white dudes in orgs of 100 people.

In my own experience, the H1Bs I've worked with and managed at the upper level, like at Google or Amazon, are way better than the average even upper level white dude. At that mid level or low level place, like a random company in NC, they are way worse on average. I have a hard time seeing how they couldn't pay even a bottom tier NCSU student to fix some billing records in a database or write a shell script to migrate data between systems.

From a real change perspective it doesn't matter because AI. Trump can get the political points, but all those would be low level jobs will just be done by AI.
