2-1 lead in the first round = multiple years of losing on purpose worked
4/19/2018 9:58:14 PM
it’s very clear that the plan worked and that this team is going to be a force, starting nowit’d be pretty cool if the Hornets were in their position as opposed to staying in purgatory for the last 5+ seasons
4/19/2018 10:13:03 PM
It's a wonder how the other 15 teams made the playoffs without tanking for many years
4/19/2018 10:32:51 PM
some by sucking and hitting in the lottery and others by spending like crazy on free agents the 76ers are positioned better than all 15 of them
4/19/2018 10:44:26 PM
Philly is basically 2012 OKC right now and thats AFTER wasting a pick on okafor. Imagine if they used that pick on Porzingis or Booker, or Cauley Stein
4/19/2018 10:45:00 PM
4/19/2018 10:49:01 PM
yeah and the slope of their line has them zooming pass all of the other teams next season, as my normal expectations do too.
4/19/2018 10:59:23 PM
when you win 10 games 2 years ago, i would hope your slope would be steep. let's wait until Philly wins something before we crown them though.
4/19/2018 11:06:28 PM
if you know you’re going to suck, why not embrace it and try and take advantage of it?they certainly haven’t lost any fans for their home games because of it
4/19/2018 11:14:52 PM
we have tanking fans here?]
4/19/2018 11:23:34 PM
I’m a fan of my favorite team taking advantage of an antiquated system to better their future as opposed to having my favorite team finish in a way that lessens their chance to improve their chances at sustained success people need to decide if they would like their team to build for the future or buy championships through free agency/tradestanking also doesn’t equal success, as talent evaluation is nearly as important [Edited on April 19, 2018 at 11:33 PM. Reason : my favorite team drafted their greatest player at #1]
4/19/2018 11:31:09 PM
In most situations, tanking is bad, but today's nba is an extreme example. Normal teams have zero chance to win. The only way you can win is to assemble a superteam and the only way most franchises can get a superteam is to do it the OKC way and the only way to do that is to sustain high draft picks over several seasons. Tanking in NFL is dumb though. What the hornets have done is worse than tanking.
4/19/2018 11:42:49 PM
Sixers won 52 games this year. Hornets won 48 games 2 years ago. Neither of them have won shit in the playoffs yet. Also, if my team is 1-14 and losing their last game will assure the #1 pick, I am fine with that. I am not fine with intentionally losing for multiple seasons for a chance to be good. It could kind of make you forget that sports is about competition and winning, when your front office is intentionally doing the opposite[Edited on April 19, 2018 at 11:49 PM. Reason : .]
4/19/2018 11:46:47 PM
did those Hornets have a rookie and a player who only had a handful of games under their belt as their centerpiece?
4/19/2018 11:48:52 PM
from hearing you talk about the Sixers, you'd think they'd already won something meaningful
4/19/2018 11:51:15 PM
don’t believe that I’ve said anything close to that just that they’ve taken advantage of the system and that it’s been successful for the past month+the point being that you should aim your disappointment towards the system as opposed to the team taking advantage of said system
4/19/2018 11:56:03 PM
Sports are about competition and trying to win, not putting that on hold for years in favor of intentionally losing. You can argue that short term losses can be justified by success in the long run, but pretty much every other playoff team didn't have to tank for years to get where they are.
4/20/2018 12:05:31 AM
would you rather really suck for 4 years or mildly suck for 10 years?[Edited on April 20, 2018 at 12:14 AM. Reason : sports are also meaningless on a certain level]
4/20/2018 12:13:47 AM
This pissing contest is incredible
4/20/2018 12:18:50 AM
You proved the point of tanking. sixers are just getting started and already better than the hornets at their best. Until the NBA raises the player max to something reasonable to prevent stacked teams, tanking is the best way to go unless you have a chance of winning with your current roster. You currently need 2 elite players or 3 stars just to have a chance at sniffing a championship. You aren't going to attract those kind of players unless you have a great, young core.
4/20/2018 12:29:37 AM
Sixers are indeed just getting started, since they haven't won anything yet.
4/20/2018 12:45:54 AM
In-credible
4/20/2018 12:48:37 AM
You can only be a fan if tanking multiple seasons if you don't buy season tickets to the team in question and/or are not a die hard fanCall Houston the process. They won trough savvy building if assets not bottoming out or spending a fortune in free agency. Also look at Cleveland as the alternate. How many #1 picks did they get after LeBron? And the only reason they won is bc he decided to come back. Thats the other thing about tanking is the draft is a crap shoot, not every player will be LeBron. The sixers are set up well but all 3 of their young players have injury history.
4/20/2018 7:20:10 AM
Yeah all you have to do to compete for championships is have one of the greatest players of all time born near your city!
4/20/2018 9:04:19 AM
Man you really had to work for that bad faith reading of my post
4/20/2018 9:56:43 AM
Well I mean that's the only reason he went back to Cleveland after Miami.
4/20/2018 10:33:02 AM
Yea but focusing on that is missing the whole point of the post which is that getting a bunch of high draft picks doesn't guarantee success anymore than a solid trade/free agent strategy.

So edavis shoved adavis and adavis reacted with a forearm and it was called a double technicalthen moore shoved mccollum and mccollum gave the same forearm and it was just a technical on moore
4/21/2018 6:11:29 PM
cool story bro
4/21/2018 6:57:08 PM
Kinda surprised the Pels swept, but then again, they actually play defense, unlike Portland. It sounds like Curry won't be back until game 3 at the very earliest, so this is an intriguing matchup for the Ws, assuming they close out their series with SAS.
4/21/2018 8:10:30 PM
Rondo and Rose have gone throwback mode. Would be cool if Parker can join them in 2011.
4/21/2018 11:56:52 PM
Mitchell is the greatest rookie in playoff history through 3 games.[Edited on April 22, 2018 at 12:31 AM. Reason : k]

Joel embiid is the biggest thug in the NBA. Also he cries when he gets love tapped but has no problem assaulting other players

no need to post a big ass picture to make a weak John Wall joke

looking like one of those games for JR
4/22/2018 9:18:08 PM
Well that was a very entertaining Sunday of NBA playoffs.

Mitt Romney got in Westbrook's head. He threw everything out the window just to prove he could shut down Rubio. LOL what a nutcase.
4/24/2018 3:42:49 AM
Westbrick has ZERO help! He single handedly carried a team with a joke of a roster on his back, all while averaging a triple double, to a 1-3 hole in the first round of the playoffs for the second consecutive season. MVP/GOAT!
4/24/2018 10:37:19 AM
I too remember when everybody proclaimed Russell Westbrook that greatest player of all time.
4/24/2018 12:47:35 PM
We know the MVP is a joke so I don't know why people hate on Westbrook for getting it. They make a mission to give it to someone new every year. If it was an honest MVP, Lebron would win most years and be almost unanymous this year.
4/25/2018 12:56:02 AM
Nobody should be questioning his athleticism, talent, or how hard he plays. People do have every right to criticize his attitude and decision making though. I almost felt sorry for him for a while, because he seems like he's got a few screws loose or on the spectrum, but now I feel sorry for his teammates who have to put up with his bs. That 10k fine was a joke and Adam Silver is a pussy.
