McCaffrey looks good, and he's a pretty good football player, too

Trying not to worry too much with how McCaffrey looks on the field so far. I assume we're just running some basic plays with him out there and not really showing how we're actually going to utilize him(screens, shifts, option plays, etc).

TD locked up through 2018, deal seems reasonably priced unlike the old Hurney
8/15/2017 4:53:30 PM
what was the deal? i didn't see a $ amount
8/15/2017 6:19:26 PM
Including what he was already going to make this season, he's basically getting this year and next year at $13.75MM total. Only $3MM is guaranteed.
8/15/2017 6:27:32 PM
Seems like a lot for an old linebacker. I'd rather move on. Paying for past performance again instead of future. But it's not ridiculous or anything. I just think this is the end of our successful run. Cam is gonna have a lost season and our nucleus is getting too expensive.
8/15/2017 11:18:23 PM
People have probably been pessimistic about paying Thomas Davis for over half of his career, but it's worked out better than those people guessed
8/16/2017 1:33:48 AM
Hurney trying to send a message he's committed to being different
8/16/2017 8:11:00 AM
The first team looked really bad against the titans.
8/20/2017 10:39:31 AM
first team**does not include Cam Newton or Luke Kuechlybut yeah, shitty, sloppy start to the game. McCaffrey again looked good.
8/20/2017 12:48:00 PM
Cam and Samuel are both playing tomorrow
8/23/2017 2:35:25 PM
Jacksonville isn't very good. Pretty flawless first drive though.
8/24/2017 7:45:25 PM
I know I know, 2015 was awesome with all the deep balls and Cam winning the MVP, but I still think 2013 showcased the perfect offense for this team. It was a run first offense with DWill and Stew splitting carries, both averaging ~4YPA, and a lot of short/quick passes to convert 3rd downs. Based on that first drive yesterday, it looks like we're going back to that. The difference is that unlike 2013, where it was only SS on the outside, we'll have multiple playmakers on the outside to make teams pay for loading the box.[Edited on August 25, 2017 at 2:23 PM. TJ Graham cut
9/1/2017 11:33:54 PM
I was a little surprised they cut Webb, but some fans are freaking out about it. If Cam goes down for a long period of time, neither Webb nor Anderson nor Kaaya are going to lead us very far.
9/4/2017 2:14:46 PM
Yeah, the internet is silly.OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CUT THE 3RD STRING QB OMG OMG OMG(I'm more surprised they don't currently have a fullback on the roster, although I'm sure they'll resign Armah once they get rid of their extra kicker. Leave it to Hurney to waste a roster spot on a second kicker.)
9/4/2017 3:19:18 PM
Save $4m by cutting Gano and add a real position player. Or keep gano and don't trust the rookie kicker. Hurney keeps both. Wtf
9/4/2017 4:22:34 PM
I hate the Kayaa signing, he was complete trash for Detroit in the preseason. I don't see how he's an upgrade over Webb at all. Guess it's assumed if Cam goes down the season is over either way.
9/5/2017 8:54:12 AM
Joe Webb is old. Kayaa is not. Also he will be a better pro than Mitchell "Mitchy Boy" Trubisky.
9/5/2017 9:28:31 AM
I'd rather have Webb or Kaaya than DA at this point, which I never thought I would say. Anderson has been atrocious.
9/5/2017 10:07:34 AM
Yeah no
9/5/2017 10:47:05 AM
I'd much rather move on from DA as well, I'd rather just start grooming a young successor. And I hate Trubisky as much as the next person, but he's easily better than Kayaa, and I don't think it's even close. Kayaa is a guy that will be out of the league in 2 years.
9/5/2017 10:56:06 AM
Kayaa is the young successor the Panthers are grooming. Anderson is the veteran backup who can come in and manage games in case of an injury.Mitchell is Blake Bortles/Jake Locker/Christan Hackenberg/other overhyped QB who fooled people with physical skills but won't ever win games[Edited on September 5, 2017 at 11:18 AM. Reason : It was nice that Webb played ST, but he wasn't a particularly good QB.][Edited on September 5, 2017 at 11:19 AM. Reason : And the only thing the Panthers have invested in kayaa is a roster spot. So no loss if he sucks]
9/5/2017 11:17:43 AM
Kaepernick is the answer

Tom Brady has a successor in place. But he's 40.
9/7/2017 3:36:59 PM
9/7/2017 3:48:34 PM
It's clear that Garoppolo was not drafted to specifically be a future franchise QB, just a solid backup plan. If he hadn't gotten the playing time he did last season, people wouldn't even be considering it. Maybe it's where the Patriots are heading now that they know what they have, but that was not the plan in 2014.There's no reason the Panthers should be looking for their future QB right now.
9/7/2017 4:07:25 PM
of course that was the planthey drafted him in the 2nd round
9/7/2017 4:44:55 PM
Yeah.

pretty interestinghttp://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article172064837.html

that is pretty cool, but it isn't going to save kuechly's brain. he's already fucked.

Really should sign kaepernick..
9/10/2017 5:24:26 PM
Offense looking rough, Cam and the receivers looking rusty. But the line is holding up pretty well.
9/10/2017 5:37:59 PM
that benjamin completion actually made me a feel significantly better, plus the effective screen before that
9/10/2017 5:54:31 PM
Run CMC is gonna need to work on his fumbleitis
9/10/2017 6:50:32 PM
CMC is a poor mans version of that midget from A&T
9/10/2017 7:41:58 PM
WHY DIDN'T THE PANTHERS DRAFT THE MIDGET
9/10/2017 7:53:37 PM
Did not look good, but did not need to...due to 49ers (and age).
9/11/2017 7:35:57 AM
defense looked good, offense looked rusty, but finewe're good
9/11/2017 9:50:26 AM
Biggest takeaway for me was the offensive line play. 49ers are a shitty team but they have a talented front seven, so keeping Cam clean the whole game and being able to impose our will in the running game was an impressive feat. Also I liked how our DBs were contesting passes and seemed to be in good position all game long. Those were the two biggest problems with the team last year and both seem much improved.[Edited on September 11, 2017 at 12:20 PM. Reason : .]
9/11/2017 12:20:03 PM
I was at the game yesterday and it was one of the most pathetic displays of football I have ever seen. The 49ers might win 4 game this season. The Panthers are lucky to have McCaffrey as he is the real deal. That's all I've got.
9/11/2017 3:49:35 PM
Defense playing well.Offense playing ok but penalties and inability to finish around the red zone killing us.
9/17/2017 2:22:58 PM
Cam's shoulder looking pretty good
9/17/2017 2:23:57 PM
taking a 180 lb white rb in the top 10 was a mistake
