Unreal the refs missed another 15 yard penalty on Clemson with that hit to the head on Finley.

It's pretty clear the ACC wants Clemson in that national title picture for revenue. That's all college sports is about.

Prop up UNC with an easy schedule and I mean clearly the right move was to stick Louisville on their side to even the conference divisions but it makes more sense to create high profile matchups on our side and let the one who emerges have an easy ACC championship game so they have the resume to compete for a title.

Dammit we absolutely should have just taken the lead there. Sucks to have so many things break your way. We've had virtually all the big plays and we are tied with a lot of time left, on the road, vs a team that is significantly better than us.

Statistically we've got like a 25-30% chance to win this game right now. Had we capitalized on our opportunities and used effective play calling the red zone that'd be closer to 60-70% right now.

There is a simple rule of thumb in football. If you can run the ball effectively, you do it. It leads to a more efficient offense due to the higher percentage of stalled drives when you pass.

It's one thing if you have a dynamic guy like Russell Wilson, a cannon thrower like Glennon stretching the field, or even a dropback passer/ball spreader like Philip Rivers as your QB.

It's completely different when you got a "game manager"

Holy shit we run a THREE man rush with 8 guys dropping back. Two of our guys are so confused they practically stand on top of each other 5 yards back on 3rd and 16 rendering themselves useless.

Watson gets time to throw (aided by what looked like their right tackle commit ting a false start that was ignored by the refs)

It's like we are allergic to the most basic football strategy. This really is a good team if we put them in position to win.

The proper play on 3rd and 16 is to blitz, or rush 4 and have an extra member of the secondary.
We had TWO guys shadowing the QB on 3rd and 16 when he's highly unlikely to scramble. And they were standing on top of each other in a place where they couldn't even shrink passing zones.

Okay, you have to understand score/situation here.

It's not acceptable to give a soft cushion and let them get 15 yards and then kick a potential game winning field goal.

You rush 4, keep 1 to shadow qb, and the rest play tight Coverge with help over the top.


You can make an argument for blitzing 5 and making them rush the throw but that exposes you to getting beat deep if they pick it up or having the qb make some outrageous move to get in fg range

Or even pick up the dreaded pass interference call.
