they would be idiots to cut willie, and panthers would be fools to not try and bring him in

ffs
8/28/2015 8:39:15 PM
Philly Brown, more like Detroit Brown.Because Detroit sucks.
8/28/2015 8:45:36 PM
It's going to be the same song and dance this year. Get to the redzone and can't cash in. Touchdowns over field goals. It always going to catch up to them.
8/28/2015 8:49:18 PM
Patriots have a bunch of no name receivers but they can actually catch a football.
8/28/2015 8:55:34 PM
Receivers can't catch, corners can't catch
8/28/2015 9:28:35 PM
Shaq and Luke are gonna be the top LB duo in a couple yearsI'm actually pretty encouraged by this game, solid defense and the offense moved the ball easily. Once Funchess is back we'll have the tall redzone threat that cam needs
8/28/2015 9:37:15 PM
I say get Brown out of there and put Boykin in. He just looks like a starting receiver. I like how Brown came out after halftime without his signature white long-sleeve shirt underneath. Didn't do him much good though...
8/29/2015 10:36:54 AM
Just gotta hope Funchess can play once he gets out there with the 1s. Packers let Boykin go because of drops and he had more than anyone throughout OTAs and camp. He's not the answer, regardless of how he looked making one catch..[Edited on August 29, 2015 at 12:15 PM. Reason : .]
8/29/2015 12:11:30 PM
Boykin had 2 drops on 83 targets in his good year in Green Bay. So not sure where you're getting that.5 drops total in 3 seasons with the Packers[Edited on August 29, 2015 at 1:55 PM. Reason : .]

according to twitter the panthers have traded for SEA WR kevin norwood. don't know the details yet
8/31/2015 3:55:45 PM
Interesting, did not see that coming. Apparently he's a guy we were high on and might have even drafted ourselves if the Seahawks didn't pluck him first. I wouldn't worry about his '14 numbers given that he was a rookie in an offense that didn't throw much to begin with.
8/31/2015 4:07:00 PM
Just sign Randy Moss already.

Pretty baller. Still, it was only against SEC East competition.
9/1/2015 12:20:36 AM
Breakdown of Norwood from most Seattle fans I've seen: Great hands, good route running, average speed, struggles to get separation. Apparently this preseason he's had more plays than other WR in their offense and still only has like 3 catches for 20 yards or something.
9/1/2015 8:15:30 AM
Boykin was cut. I know he hadn't had a great training camp and preseason, but still a little surprised to see it.
9/1/2015 12:44:16 PM
Always good to see Jerry's neighbor Bersin make the cut over more talented players.
9/1/2015 1:06:17 PM
Think Norwood basically made Boykin obsolete. At least Bersin can be a PR/KR in a pinch and can play in the slot. GM already said he loves that Norwood can play multiple WR positions.
9/1/2015 1:46:59 PM
I hope to hell Bersin is never back to be a returner again. Some of the most cringe-worthy return attempts last season I have ever seen. And maybe Rivera should start calling Corey Brown "Philly" again, a la Calvin Leslie[Edited on September 1, 2015 at 2:52 PM. Reason : .]

9/1/2015 3:19:54 PM
Bersin and Mike Brown got cut
9/5/2015 8:32:45 AM
Marcus Lucas cut too, wow. So much for Dave "the answer is on the roster" Gettleman.
9/5/2015 9:48:38 AM
Titans release Hakeem Nicks. Wonder if we'll bring that garbage in here for a workout.
9/5/2015 3:19:17 PM
lol, no
9/5/2015 3:35:54 PM
9/6/2015 3:53:40 PM
I'm a little surprised they cut Todman, but Wegher is going to be pretty good. I guess Whittaker and Ginn will handle all the return duties now.also, would not be surprised if they try to pick up a WR on waivers and cut Philly. ]
9/6/2015 7:19:47 PM
has reggie wayne been released yet? would he be a good fit if so
9/6/2015 9:32:59 PM
Pats released him, yes. Apparently he said it wasn't as much "fun" as he had hoped. Since he is a veteran, if he is on a Week 1 roster, he gets his entire year salary. Though the rumor is that they might bring him back after that.]
9/6/2015 9:35:08 PM
I'd rather they go after James Jones, or Duron Carter, or someone not old as balls.
9/6/2015 10:33:32 PM
Jones is talking with his old team the Packers, apparently
9/6/2015 10:44:43 PM
He already signed with them. Colts also re-signed Carter to their practice squad
9/6/2015 10:46:45 PM
Mike Tolbert's head looks like a football
9/7/2015 1:28:32 AM
9/7/2015 11:10:16 AM
Brown and Ginn to start at WR.I guess they aren't expecting anyone to actually catch passes.
9/7/2015 4:40:54 PM
That's a little bit scaryGuess you can take that chance when you're playing the worst franchise of the decade
9/7/2015 5:13:43 PM
Move Cam to WR and start Anderson?
9/7/2015 5:24:40 PM
9/7/2015 5:39:05 PM
9/7/2015 6:47:14 PM
well, there isn't any "+ this guy" for this sketchy group this year, like Smith or Benjamin. If Funchess and Norwood haven't developed fast enough to start within a month or so, I'm afraid it could be a long year for the Panthers.
9/7/2015 7:19:30 PM
Whose the best WR to play in the Super Bowl last year? Buncha scrubs.
9/7/2015 8:56:28 PM
Brandon LaFell?
9/7/2015 8:59:35 PM
exactly

9/8/2015 10:28:45 PM
best case is 9-7? lol
9/8/2015 10:33:27 PM
he doesn't have Atlanta, NO, or TB in "cellar dwellers" so I guess he thinks they'll all go 12-4 and make the playoffs
9/8/2015 10:40:33 PM
this is the worst for Jstew and the run game I am afraid. Defenses will be cheatin to stop the run all season... Cam will still find someone to throw the ball to and the offense will somehow find a way to move.lest we forget

I like Barnwell and his pieces provide better and deeper analysis than most of the talking heads, but I think he's not seeing the forest through the trees here. Yeah, we were a bad team through most of last year, and only won the division because our rivals were worse or choked away winnable games. Since our week 1 roster this year looks very similar to our Week 17 roster last year, while our division rivals have upgraded or at least shuffled their rosters significantly, his analysis makes sense on paper. However, what he's missing is that the late turnaround was mostly thanks to a lot of mid-season roster turnover. By that Atlanta game we were starting at least 7 rookies and had released or benched many of our week 1 starters/contributors. The offensive line, which was a goddamn disaster most of the season, was much improved and could even be considered a strength by that point. Our two top corners and free safety were all new. Corey Brown had replaced Avant in the lineup and Stewart was looking like beast mode. As for our off-season moves, you could say we didn't do much, but I'd counter with we did what we needed to. Namely, we upgraded the biggest hole on our offensive line, which was LT. We added quality and depth to our secondary. Through the draft we bolstered our already elite linebacker corp, gave Cam a new weapon, and improved our offensive line and running game. More than anything else, we fixed our biggest deficiency last year which was Cam's health. Having a mobile QB hobbling around with a hurt ankle and broken ribs had a negative trickle down effect on the whole team. Losing Benjamin no doubt hurts our chances against the Seattle's and Green Bay's of the league, but I still think we're deeper, more talented, and better positioned for a playoff run than any team in our division. 2014's rookies will be better, Cam is healthy, and the defense is easily the best in the division. I think the wheels really have to fall off to finish below 0.500, and 9-7 is closer to our floor than our ceiling.[Edited on September 10, 2015 at 10:47 AM. Reason : .]
