I would argue the one position that Arsenal DESPERATELY needed to upgrade this window they haven't and the options are dwindling. Schneiderlin is going to Spurs (fuck him) and the more reliable Spanish journalists are saying Khedira is staying at Real to run down his contract.Who could be got? William Carvalho is a true beast DM but young and in Portugal so he is WAY overpriced. A Bender brother? Even if he was available Vidal is too similar to Ramsey and not a true DM.... and we would never outspend United to get him.If they don't get a real DM third or fourth yet again...[Edited on July 30, 2014 at 7:29 AM. What's Christoph Kramer's status? I'm shocked PL teams aren't fighting over Memphis Depay. I can't believe I haven't even seen a rumor linking him to Manchester United, which is strange because they're linked to every other Dutch player in the world.

What's with the fucking pink all of a sudden from both Barca and Real?It looks horrible.

Fuck Yes. Goose bumps. We Go AgainA special season now is doneAnd sadly there's no title won.But memories of how we playedWill hold us through these summer days. One memory for me stands outOur captain gives a rallying shout.Emotion strong, he tells his menWe Go Again. Those words so heartfelt and inspiredDon't change because of what transpired. For Stevie is a man who leadsDesiring always to succeed.Pushing himself and those aroundTo always reach for higher ground. He bottled it? Go boil your headSupport your ******* team instead! As we back ours and know that thenWe Go Again. So Chelsea came and things went wrongAnd now they sing that ******* songAnd flood the web with endless memesOur captain's slip, their bitter dream.Don't let them take those words from himAs if it's ruined by what they sing.Don't let them say he fell on his arseAnd gave the ball to Demba Ba.Because though he did, we know he slippedAnd from there they were well equippedTo defend their lead, to waste our time,To keep their deep defensive line.We know that horrid twist of fateWas just one game of thirty-eightAs Mourinho spouts his bitter chat. The Special One? The "Special" ****.I'll stick with backing Rodgers men.We Go Again.I'm proud of reds who backed their teamAnd lined the streets as they made us dream.I'm proud of our courage and convictionAs we battered all pre-season predictions.I'm proud that at 33-1We oh so nearly had it won.I'm proud of our captain and proud of his wordsAnd proud I'll remain despite internet nerdsWho hide behind computers and type on their screensAnd have no idea what that passion means. It means that they care, that they'll fight for the clubFor those in the ground and for those in the pub.For those who support us home and awayAnd even the gloryhunters who turn up in May.The importance of that passion cannot be diminishedThough our best season for years had a frustrating finish. You'll see how it matters next season whenWe Go Again.[Edited on July 30, 2014 at 7:07 PM. Preseason but Gerrard looks past it. Worst player on field for either side.Jovetic can be really important if he stays fit because we know Aguero won't...

So basically United can spend £100m on transfer fees every summer and still be fine with FFP even without CL revenue? Not complaining because they have massive revenues but rather just asking...
7/31/2014 7:30:21 AM
See big clubs will most likely never have any problems meeting FFP rules unless they generate a massive loss in a fiscal year.Players are calculated as an asset on the book. Hence, like an asset, they are amortized over the life of their contract. For example if Vidal costs United 50 million and gets paid 5 million a year for 5 years then United will only record a liability on the books of 15 million in year 1. So yes United may have close to 100 million to spend every year but that is largely dependent on player values with depreciation and of course the clubs ability to generate revenues and break even.
7/31/2014 8:15:38 AM
Of course, the ability to generate the same level decreases every year without Champions League but I don't suspect that will be a long term problem for United. For example, I just read this morning that their Adidas deal goes down 30% per season if they are not in CL. I also thought you only amortized the transfer fees, not the transfers/wages total. Could be wrong though.
7/31/2014 8:50:14 AM
I have no idea if Dier is any good, but he turns into a beast on FIFA
7/31/2014 10:03:20 AM
Yes a lot of sponsors are going down that route. Also United would stand to gain much more if the opposite were to happen and were to win a few trophies.Yes transfer fees are amortized with wages. So the profit is any revenue generated by the club and then the liabilities are of course the transfer fees and wages. I believe on the liability side the only thing that counts against FFP is the transfer and wages, not the club liabilities through facilities upkeep and incidentals. Of course that does indirectly effect FFP and has an impact on the club.
7/31/2014 12:04:07 PM
I don't think so. Everything but training facilities and youth development costs are included in the yearly profit/loss total.
7/31/2014 12:23:31 PM
Arsene will start a team full AMs one day. Quintero? He's got massive potential but give me a fucking DM!
7/31/2014 5:58:17 PM
Lampard?
8/1/2014 6:15:41 PM
If anybody's going to the game tomorrow in Charlotte, I'll be the guy in the Liverpool jersey.
8/1/2014 8:12:01 PM
^Everybody in this thread (that lives within a few hours drive of Charlotte) will be there. Why wouldn't they?
8/1/2014 9:06:37 PM
I'm not going unfortunately, but I've got family visiting from out of town.
8/2/2014 6:41:05 AM
^^ because some people don't want to pay $50 to watch a team they don't support play a meaningless friendly? In other news just got tickets to be at Camp Nou on August 24th on opening day! Should be epic.
8/2/2014 1:14:53 PM
Should we just go ahead and hand Sanogo the Golden Boot?
8/2/2014 2:49:04 PM
Nope, because this year is Ashley Young's year!
8/2/2014 7:36:11 PM
early derby day! I am pretty excited. Expect to walk alone and feel pretty lonely on monday Liverpool.

The WatchESPN app creating a whole new generation of United haters one day at a time. 1 out of every 3 commercials is that god damn United/Chevrolet commercial. I want to kill something every time it comes on.
8/3/2014 6:05:37 PM
Poch might be our best signing of any kind in a looong time. He's really progressive in his approach to the game and how we condition/train. I think he's going to do big things at WHL before heading to Madrid.
8/3/2014 8:06:19 PM
Yeah I don't care who Liverpool is playing, I'm not going to get excited about the 5th preseason friendly in 12 days. It would be really awesome if players would stop getting hurt too.
8/4/2014 10:41:43 AM
Looking forward to all the LVG has as many trophies in two weeks as Wenger has in nine years tweets.Just like all the United fans did after the Community Shield last year with THE CHOSEN ONE.[Edited on August 4, 2014 at 12:52 PM. Reason : x]

Lol at the announcer calling rickie fucking lambert a world class striker.
8/4/2014 8:19:03 PM
did the announcer just say Rooney had "lost his hair a bit"?
8/4/2014 9:37:10 PM
Crushing blow to United's top four prospects with the news Howard Webb is retiring.
8/6/2014 8:23:27 AM
Van Gaal has "doubts" about Vidal's knee. Of course that's why they haven't signed him yet.
8/6/2014 8:35:12 AM
^ oh you scousers are so cute. Of course Sanchez only moved to Arsenal for London, of course! Can't be the fact that Arsene Wenger is one of the best managers in the game compared to Sir Brenden Rodgers the former treble winner of Swansea & Reading. Why would Sanchez not want to play for him?
8/6/2014 9:14:34 AM
^^^ You mean the Howard Webb that gave liverpool 3 penalties at Old Trafford last year? Oh what a big blow to United.
8/6/2014 9:22:48 AM
it's too early to be this mad wazza
8/6/2014 9:24:23 AM
oh wazza you posted almost that same exact thing already in this thread once and didn't get a bite. The difference between you and me is that you actually buy all that club-speak bullshit that United puts out.
8/6/2014 9:38:52 AM
^ United hasn't said anything about Vidal, are you so ignorant on purpose? No one knows anything about Vidal, no one even knows United is interested. Its you buying into the media bullshit, not me buying into whatever United has "said." Hilarious. Also I wouldn't be mad at all if United didn't sign anyone else this transfer window. I am a big believer in youth and Van Gaal has a very good track record with young academy players. It would be great if Vidal were to come but I would be even more happy if an academy kid broke through. [Edited on August 6, 2014 at 9:44 AM. Reason : .]
8/6/2014 9:42:36 AM
I was replying to your reference about Rodgers talking about Sanchez. Hilarious.
8/6/2014 9:48:24 AM
You are referencing bullshit that united puts out that I supposedly believe to prove that you don't buy into what Rodgers said? Fantastic, I didn't think you were so naive to buy into it anyway. So how does that explain that I buy into club speak? lol. Its very clear when clubs are saying something to save face and when they actually are telling the truth. I don't understand why you believe I buy into everything that United says but hey why does that matter? Its a lot more fun when libel is involved.
8/6/2014 9:55:50 AM
I think you're confusing what RAWK says with what aimorris says..Also, you very easily get mad.[Edited on August 6, 2014 at 9:59 AM. Reason : Libel? Shits getting litigious in here and the season hasn't even started!]
8/6/2014 9:58:30 AM
lol who is mad? Its football I only get mad for about 2 hours after my team losses, not over a difference of opinion.
8/6/2014 10:04:05 AM
LOL libel
8/6/2014 10:06:12 AM
Crazy how many great CMs United has turned down in the past two seasons. Ozil, Kroos, Fabregas and now Vidal.I get it. They need SUPER QUALITY to replace Cleverley, Fellaini and Fletcher... not those bums.
8/6/2014 11:41:36 AM
Crazy how people believe media stories so easily! Also just for your information United were clearly interested in Fabregas last year and didn't get him. So that means he rejected us this year and we were interested? Do you realize how agents operate in football? When a player of Ozil's caliber is set to leave I am sure big clubs know about it and have been approached about it. Arsenal weren't the only one's offered Ozil if the agent is worth a damn. So gullible you lot.
8/6/2014 1:58:02 PM
