So maybe this has been covered already, haven't read the whole thread, but why is this being referred to as a LGBT issue? Isn't it just a T issue? Gay people, lesbians, and bisexuals are not seeing any sort of discrimination from it. I get that a lot of the time those groups fight for things together but it seems a little odd to me.

I understand the thought process behind reclassifying it as "not a disorder" to try and be PC, but I think acknowledging that this is a mental disorder, and that these people need help, is more important.

your mistake has been pointed out to you
4/16/2016 2:42:12 PM
so what about prison? would it be discrimination to send a person to prison for their biological sex?
4/16/2016 6:33:24 PM
It absolutely could be, prison is hell for a lot of transgender people
4/16/2016 6:37:15 PM
I guess I can see that being true about a host of mental disorders, so what would be an appropriate standard for deciding which prison an individual would go to, specifically being transgender?

Seems like it would just be case by case based on what makes the most sense. There doesn't need to be absolute rules for everything, does there?

you say abnormality, I say mutant superpowers. but then you couldn't call them x-men.
4/18/2016 10:05:27 AM
xx-men, perhaps?
4/18/2016 10:34:19 AM
^ don't know why but I thought about xmen when I read the story yesterday
4/18/2016 11:59:22 AM
i think you need to look up the definition for "discriminate"
4/18/2016 12:06:03 PM
^^ charlotte protected in law what people were already doing, it prevented discrimination.HB2 forces all businesses to do things 1 way, removing any choices, in addition to setting limits on min wage and law suits. If your angle is 'government overreach" (like mccrory tried to say) HB2 is the actual overreach in this case.
4/18/2016 12:32:25 PM
in regards to the bathroom forcing part of HB2, it does not cover all businesses, only state buildings and schools[Edited on April 18, 2016 at 12:39 PM. Reason : .]
4/18/2016 12:38:58 PM
I thought it included all businesses open to the public(the Charlotte ordinance). In that case, a YMCA would be required to allow an individual to choose whichever locker room they wished. If that causes them to lose business or go against their beliefs then how is that not discrimination?[Edited on April 18, 2016 at 1:34 PM. Reason : alksjlk]
4/18/2016 1:33:59 PM
i can't find the exact text, but my understanding is that it prevented discrimination everywhere, yesmy comment was to moron, HB2 does not force all businesses to do things 1 way (discriminate), the bathroom part of the law only applies to government buildings and schools. Under HB2 any other private place is allowed to have policies that prevent discrimination.
4/18/2016 8:25:50 PM
^^ discrimination is usually in the eye of the beholder
4/18/2016 9:26:24 PM
which is why I don't know if there can be a policy where someone doesn't cry foul
4/18/2016 9:57:17 PM
Discrimination is in the eye of the beholder, and then when it isn't there it is invented by the left.I have the exact same rights as a mentally ill transgender person, to use the bathroom that matches my biology. That is not discrimination. Mental delusion does not grant you additional rights above that of the majority, no matter how desperately the media and gullible masses attempt to frame this into an "oppressed victim" narrative.
4/19/2016 12:42:59 AM
"black people have the exact same right to use the bathroom that is designated for their race as i do""gay people have the exact same right to marry someone of the opposite sex as i do""handicap people have the exact same right to just walk up the stairs that i do"etc...idiot

I can only imagine everything wasn't as hunky dory as you suggest, but I'm haven't read too much into the impetus for the Charlotte law.
4/19/2016 9:54:02 PM
People in Charlotte don't give a fuck what you do in the bathroom. Get some head, do a bunch of blow, take a shit and smear it on the walls. It's all good in the crown town.
4/19/2016 9:58:46 PM
so what if you stop calling restrooms that correspond with gender identity and call them rooms that correspond with anatomical differences? would that satisfy both sides?
4/20/2016 7:54:54 AM
No. No matter what is said or done one group or another is going to be pissed. People are too fucking stupid and too nosey for there to be peace on any issue.
4/20/2016 9:02:25 AM
perhaps they wanted the bear to not get re-elected.
4/20/2016 9:19:52 AM
4/20/2016 9:38:27 AM
i'm still amazed that everyone is only talking about the bathroom part of HB2, which is hardly the worst part of the new law

Trump came out in favor of transgendered people using whatever bathrooms they want. I think if he locks up the nomination we will see more "liberal" type comments from him.

Aside from his retarded immigration policies, and his views on healthcare, how is he not a Democrat? He's pro big government, pro-choice, pro-lgbt. I haven't heard his stance on entitlements, but hell, even Bill Clintion wasn't huge on entitlements. What else is left that would identify him as a Republican? Real question.
