nc state shit. no runs when you have bases juiced and no outs

They have benoit warming up. I would assume theyre pulling himI guess it hopefully doesnt matter now
10/8/2013 8:12:32 PM
relievers, sans Otero, ruined this game. FUCK[Edited on October 8, 2013 at 8:13 PM. Reason : .]

In the A's defense, it was against scherzer who has probably the top 3 best stuff in the game (and most likely cy young this year)[Edited on October 8, 2013 at 8:13 PM. Reason : ^welcome to the life of a tigers fan]

nope this loss is on the bullpen. cooke and doolittle were horrible. total meltdown and not at all like themwhy pull scherzer? is leyland retarded?[Edited on October 8, 2013 at 8:17 PM. Reason : .]
10/8/2013 8:14:48 PM
Like ive said many times, leyland is the worst manager in the league (now that dusty baker has been canned)
10/8/2013 8:27:03 PM
it was a rhetorical question
10/8/2013 8:28:29 PM
Boy, this just got really interesting.
10/8/2013 8:28:56 PM
good game. GREAT series. 1 run separates both teams bring em back to o.co, sans Scherzer. and i'd argue Ron Washington is up there with Leyland. [Edited on October 8, 2013 at 8:37 PM. Reason : .]

I don't know where the Scherzer lovefest is coming from based off this series. I'd much rather face him than Verlander in a 5th game, for some reason, I feel like I've seen Verlander in a fifth game not too long ago? I know what he can do when the pressure is on. Verlander didn't even give up a run in Game 2. Scherzer has given up 3 in 9 innings, and got gifted by Reddick with bases loaded. Meh. Verlander is going to be ther real story of this series. Really need to work the count and get him to 100-110 pitches by the fifth inning and hopefully be down only a run or two. Bartolo was fine in game 1 other than the first inning, he gave up one more run than Scherzer. I'd go with who brought me. The odds of a rookie replicating against Verlander in the same series have got to be low, I wouldn't go with Gray.ETA- keep in mind the comments I made about Reddick and Sogard before the series. Reddick was swinging for the fences when we needed a walk and Melvin took the bat out of Sogard's hands altogether against a righty after Reddick. Sogard has to feel badly about that.[Edited on October 9, 2013 at 8:22 AM. Reason : .]

I disagree. Scherzer is the better of the two pitchers and I'm glad we won't have to face him again this season. His delivery and location are just better than Verlander's as of right now- he has the stats to prove it. We have already beaten Verlander TWICE this year. Let's make it three times.
10/9/2013 10:42:48 AM
If Verlander does what he did in game two we will lose, it's that simple. 7 IP with no runs, yea Detroit will take that. Scherzer gave up 3 runs in 9 toal innings (I believe) and also got a gift with the bases loaded no outs. Did we even sniff a run off Ver in game two?ETA- The Balfour breakdown in Detroit in the regular season was also when Scherzer was on the hook for the L. [Edited on October 9, 2013 at 11:28 AM. we had four hits against him, so it's not like he's immortal or anything. yes he had 11Ks, but I still say he's beatable.
10/9/2013 11:37:57 AM
You made the right choice Bob Melvin. Sonny Gray is going to win game 5 for the Athletics.
10/9/2013 7:19:42 PM
One issue is that Detroit is historically bad the first time they face a pitcher and really good the following matchup. We'll see if the trend continues

Oh i dont disagree, im just saying I wouldnt expect him to have the same great success vs the lineup tomorrow[Edited on October 9, 2013 at 11:22 PM. Reason : B]

He's got a 50/50 chance. Either way, it's been a hell of a season and if we lose, I won't be nearly as devastated since at least we tried something different to win. Feel good story and all that stuff.
10/10/2013 1:26:49 AM
phuck that shit I will be pissed if we lose to Verlander in game 5 two seasons in a row. We need some home cookin' from the umps and a few calls to go our way...
10/10/2013 12:53:58 PM
I've been preparing myself all day emotionally for the loss, and I think I've managed to bypass bargaining and denial, so right now I'm at acceptance. I've decided that instead of downing a fifth of JD and blacking out before the game starts, I'll just stick to beer, that way I won't be hungover AND on suicide watch on Friday morning Either way it's been a fantastic season and I'm just going to enjoy the game.

I still can't believe Straily gave up that three run homer. He dominated the Tigers except for those three batters.
10/10/2013 1:21:47 PM
geezus - don't give up yet. We may not make the playoffs again for years!I am still fighting mad and hating their star studded team that is the only one in the majors that can throw emergency repeat aces who have already pitched full games at you again in the last two games of a playoff series.phuck the tigers. phuck verlander. phuck scherzer who already phucked us. lets phuck them back tonight! Go A's
10/10/2013 1:47:09 PM
^^ I was screaming to pull Straily in the 5th when he had two on. Annnnnd I'm back to thinking we can win again. Thanks, sports radio!
10/10/2013 2:02:56 PM
^, then bet on Detroit, say $50, odds for both teams to win are nearly identical. That way if Oakland wins, you paid for the W, if not, Verlander pays for yoru dinner (and that fifth of Jack you mentioned).^^, Unfortunately, had oakland won one more game and tied with Boston, they would have been the # 1 seed and faced a depelted Tampa rotation. Instead, you go from a depleted staff to a staf that has two bulldog aces that can throw 130 pitches if need be, such is life.[Edited on October 10, 2013 at 2:05 PM. Reason : .]

Yea that was a no-doubter

Good season guys. If it's any consolation(its probably not) the Tigers' owner is dying and singlehandedly has kept downtown detroit alive around the ballpark with allowing companies of Detroit to advertise for free and by spending all of his money to retain and acquire talent. He is one of the very few affluent people actually trying to help the city and its people.

I'd like to congratulate myself for not getting blackout drunk on a weeknight. GREAT season A's. Maybe one day we'll afford a Verlander
10/10/2013 11:33:46 PM
I hope all of my comments saying i'd rather face Scherzer than Verlander have begun to add up. 15 scoreless innings out of the 45 in the entire series. That's why he's got he 100m deal.
