He'd be a great player at Davidson
2/1/2014 4:58:12 PM
If he takes the offseason to learn to shoot the 3, he'll be a valuable player

The what have you done for me lately crowd is in full effect

^^Haha what?

STOP SHOOTING

Its painfully obvious he's the worst man defender in the league, we HAVE to keep playing zone. He is so damn good running the offense.
2/18/2014 7:56:32 PM
can't we just get him and barber to breed and produce the perfect PG.
2/18/2014 7:57:10 PM
What say you, Science?

defense isn't working with barber in. at least offense worked with lewis.
2/18/2014 8:25:45 PM
Where's the love?? 11 assists and no turnovers. Last four games, 28 assists and 2 turnovers. Not bad. Just wish he could knock down the open three. Maybe he'll hit a couple against UNC on Wednesday.
2/24/2014 9:47:51 AM
Him being a weak link in defense is the only thing holding him up as an all ACC.
2/24/2014 9:51:16 AM
I think if could get hit a couple open threes and get into double digit scoring he could make at least third team (in the future...shit aint happening this year unless he drops a couple 40 point games at the end).
2/24/2014 9:54:58 AM
I'm glad to see he's progressing into a true "floor general".However, dude has to start making some jump-shots. He's 6 for 44 from three (14%)! and only shooting 33% overall. I remember reading/hearing that he's one of the best shooters in practice, I really hope that can start translating into game situations.
2/24/2014 10:26:55 AM
I never heard that about him shooting lights out in practice. That's odd. Guess it's just a mental thing.I was wondering if him putting on 15 lbs of muscle threw off his shot any. I know when I started lifting pretty seriously in high school and put on some muscle, my jump shot turned to shit for a while. I almost had to re-learn how to shoot.
2/25/2014 9:26:00 AM
I'm not sure about "lights out", but I did read (on either here or PP, fwiw) he was one of the better shooters in practice.
2/25/2014 9:40:36 AM
Poor kid just can't guard ANYBODY. Stop fucking shooting
2/27/2014 8:56:58 AM
He makes everyone around him better on offense. On D, he needs to work on his lateral movement a lot. He'd be so much less of a liability if he could keep his man in front of him. Yeah, he lacks size, so people can get shots off, he can't do anything about that. He's a super confident distributor and I guarantee he can shoot, just lacks the confidence atm.
2/27/2014 9:09:53 AM
He just needs to learn to stop fouling in crucial end of game situations...
2/27/2014 9:12:05 AM
Well if you guarantee it...He had a solid game last night. Definitely wasn't the reason we lost. Barber, however, isn't giving us anything at this point.
2/27/2014 9:12:51 AM
how many players besides lewis do we excuse for shooting 30% with "well they're really good in practice!"
2/27/2014 9:15:28 AM
2/27/2014 9:17:29 AM
Everybody knows Lewis isn't a good shooter in games. But he's our best option at point guard by far right now. He's got a 4.04 assist to turnover ratio. He's played well of late.
2/27/2014 9:28:10 AM
2/27/2014 9:41:55 AM
That has nothing to do with my statement. He's clearly our best option at PG at this point because Barber gives us nothing. I'm tired of the "he shoots well in practice!" refrain because it treats him like he's a 3 year old.
2/27/2014 9:53:14 AM
I think almost everyone has given up on the "he shoots well in practice" excuse. He has a million to one assist/turnover ratio...I want him out there for every minute of the game. Cat is the one that needs to hit a shot if he wants some PT...because other than some decent defense, he isn't giving us shit.
2/27/2014 9:59:44 AM
He was remarkably bad last night. Who does he make betteron ooffense? He just stands around dribbling then throws it to Warre to go 1 on 1

I'm honestly over Cat at this point. I say we recruit a decent back-up for Tyler...maybe an athletic, taller point guard who can just manage the game and hit an open shot and give Tyler a breather. Then go after a good point guard to take over when he leaves. We've got big guys and wings for days for the next couple years...all we need is for Tyler to get them the ball and not turn over it. We don't need Barber getting all Tasmanian Devil out there and fucking up.
2/27/2014 10:25:59 AM
2/27/2014 10:39:53 AM
Genius from face . Makes a valid point about Lewis not doing well on defense, yet subtly trolls about what he adds to our offense, when thats exactly the reason he is preferred over Cat. Folks like EMan can only dream to be face.
2/27/2014 10:54:50 AM
please stay Tyler. we'd be dead in the water with Cat.
2/27/2014 11:11:58 AM
2/27/2014 11:17:56 AM
Yeah...I'm just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks after last night.Just hoping Cat can turn it around...because if not, he's not going to stay here to sit behind Lewis next year.
2/27/2014 11:22:41 AM
well if he'd learn to shoot and not trip over his own feet/dribble the ball off his shoes, cat could play at the same time as lewis.it's not like our other guard position is filled with superstars.
2/27/2014 4:14:01 PM
Cat started on the backfoot with his concussion before the season started. He is a freshman PG, who will show marked improvement next season. Patience.
2/27/2014 4:21:39 PM
I love the guy to death, and definitely enjoy his ability to distribute the ball and make sick passes. But in order to be a competitive team, we need a PG who can shoot and score. Especially if(when) we lose warren.
2/27/2014 4:24:22 PM
I just think its going to ultimately be difficult to keep both of them happy if they both improve for next year (like Lewis improving his shot and Barber improving in every facet of the game with the exception of being fast as fuck). Because they're both so fucking short...you can't have both of them out there at the same time. I don't want either of them to transfer...I just wouldn't be surprised if they did. It's not like they are SGs that can also play the SF...or forwards that can play both the 3 and the 4...or even the 5. These guys are strictly point guards.
2/27/2014 4:28:28 PM
Or Barber can stay, improve and take sole position of the PG spot his senior year. Too much to ask?
2/27/2014 4:40:27 PM
Pretty much. He didn't come to State to be 2nd string for three years. If Gott can somehow keep both Lewis and Barber here and happy for the next two years...I will consider it his best coaching job at State.I guess it might be possible for both to be on the court for a significant amount of time next year since our frontcourt will be stacked. It will need to happen to keep them both happy (provided they are both playing well).
2/27/2014 4:43:30 PM
i'd be happy to see more minutes go to barber if he would bring his FG% up from abysmal to somewhat decent.
2/27/2014 4:53:34 PM
Barber is 6'2".
2/27/2014 4:59:15 PM
Lewis would be great in a league full of other slow, short point guards. As it stands though the ACC consistently has the best backcourts in the ncaa. Lewis gets destroyed on defense every single game. I mean, he's remarkably bad. He makes Archie Miller look like Tony Allen.Still, somehow he's still a better option than Cat is right now. Next year he will not be. I just hope we have a legit 2 guard by then so we don't have to run them out there together.

2/27/2014 5:49:22 PM
His shot is off right now, that's for sure. Wood's was at one point too. I wouldn't expect it to continue.and Lewis and Barber are not the same, scoring wise: .380 > .317 FG, and .244 > .149 3PT.
