C7 Z06 weight released. 325 lbs heavier than the last Z06
8/20/2014 9:30:17 AM
Holy shit! Corvette Z06 MSRP is $78,995 Why the F would anyone bother with the Camaro Z/28 for $75k?!
8/22/2014 10:43:01 AM
because plenty of people dont like corvettes
8/22/2014 2:30:24 PM
har har. I understand that some people want that back seat. Still, seems hard to justify the price of the Z/28 if Chevy can sell the semi-exotic Z06 for close to the same amount.
8/22/2014 6:29:07 PM
^ Considering it will out-perform the previous ZR1, I would call it a full-blown exotic.(I know I know, Corvette, plastic, etc )
8/22/2014 7:15:06 PM
haha, well actually I was referring to it's construction. Carbon fiber, composites, etc.

12/3/2014 10:21:58 AM
^monoleaf front spring????
12/3/2014 10:25:44 AM
Yep Interesting breakdown of the suspension setup.http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/track-tests/2014-chevrolet-corvette-stingray-z51-suspension-walkaround.html
12/3/2014 10:48:22 AM
^^It's had that suspension design for a while now. Composite leaf spring front and rear. This C7 crashed going 100+, and the driver walked away.
12/3/2014 10:56:53 AM
Glad for the drivers safety, sad for the bad decision and wreck. Hope nobody else was harmed.
12/3/2014 11:05:14 AM
^^^^ Corvettes have had transverse leaf springs both front and rear for generations...like all the way back to the C2, I think, although the specifics have changed, particularly starting with the C5. It's actually a very good design with some real advantages.
12/3/2014 1:20:39 PM
I knew the rear suspension was monoleaf on recent models, but never paid attention to the fronts.interesting-
12/3/2014 1:29:24 PM
light weight and compact packaging works well for them...
12/3/2014 1:32:27 PM
C5 had the biggest suspension update compared to previous generation in part because they switched to a rear transaxle with the C5's.
12/6/2014 8:56:06 AM
This is not how you break in a 80k car with 1 mile on it.
12/6/2014 12:58:17 PM
meh. it'll be fine. You realize that engine factories do audits and put a certain number of brand new engines on a dyno to go to peak power with less than an hour of run time on it? i mean it abused the tires and heated up the fluids. but the car is stock, the torque limiting controls should keep anything major from happening to it.
12/6/2014 2:20:55 PM
I, too, can power brake and smoke the tires....with way way way way less power

sounds about right. ...and the gt4 takes the lead

There solution to the problem is laughable. You can go enjoy your car the way it is designed after you get a aftermarket tune to get rid of our self crippling tune. BTW that will void your warranty.
12/11/2014 1:30:59 PM
Lol check out my comments on that jalopnik post. Many many good laughs.

If only I had 100k sitting around. ^^Don't be too hard on them old farts, I need them to buy z06's like hot cakes so I can get one for cheap in a few years. Old guys are great for the used car market. [Edited on December 12, 2014 at 1:31 PM. Reason : .]

True, but I thought the only real regulatory huddles for automakers in the US are CAFE standards, which in simple terms are fleet average fuel economy requirements which are intertwined with CO2 emissions. High performing engines aren't exactly going to be pumping out unburnt fuel and NOx.[Edited on December 12, 2014 at 4:09 PM. Reason : not putting thoughts into the right words]

yep. they should focus on diesel full size pickups and the number of tools that drive them with empty beds bc they have to tow 2x per year.[Edited on December 12, 2014 at 8:17 PM. Reason : f]

80k for a detuned car is a disgrace in my opinion.
12/12/2014 11:18:19 PM
This is classic GM. These Z06 owners need to start worrying about reliability. I don't buy the emissions excuse since the companies argument is you can void the warranty and get all the power all the time. I think they probably found something in testing that says it won't last 100k+ miles at 650hp. This is GM, the company that knowingly allowed people to drive cars with bad ignition switches etc.I've been all over the Hellcat forum and not one owner is complaining about them slowing down.[Edited on December 13, 2014 at 7:32 AM. hard to get to the root of this because so many people are just copying something they read somewhere on a forum. I think this is the original article:http://www.autoevolution.com/news/2015-corvette-z06-owners-report-heat-soak-power-loss-its-actually-a-conservative-ecu-setup-89790.htmlThere's some silly stuff in there.

With the C7 out now, how much can C6's be had for now? Is 15k realistic (with z51 package)?
3/5/2015 8:25:25 PM
No, you'd have to find one with hella miles and a dirty carfax to get that price.http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/Chevrolet/Corvette/Raleigh+NC-27612?endYear=2007&makeCode1=CHEV&mmt=%5BCHEV%5BCORV%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&modelCode1=CORV&searchRadius=0&showcaseListingId=390757238&showcaseOwnerId=47973205&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&startYear=2005&Log=0

the car isn't serious. its for parking lot pimpin. overheats after a very small number of laps. just like the hellcat, it's for show

Do you see the difference between your critique and his. You point out facts about it, he just says America does disney and the car isn't fun to drive.

well yeah, the guy is shopping himself for a job. he's trying to stay relevant
