^^ yeah RW has been horrible so far. They should probably give Flynn a shot before they dig too deep of a hole.

Agreed, he's just getting swallowed out there. Their receivers are pretty bad, but he's just not been able to make any plays and he looks a little too slow with his feet.

The only thing he's doing right is not turning the ball over frequently.

ok so "one of" = "one of the 500 most famous" ?

RW isn't one of the 50 most famous players in the NFL in the world

I can't stand the guy. No, not trolling. He turned his back on NC State by not committing to the team, and I honestly don't understand why you people still want to gobble his balls.

^ Shut the fuck up and don't read the thread if it bothers you.

He's just as much a member of the Pack as any player who has moved on and he's fun as hell to watch. If you don't believe that, go watch the post game press conference from today and keep that shit to yourself. It's not like it hasn't been discussed a thousand times already.

hardly. he couldn't get past his own indecisiveness and put our coach and team in a really bad place. If it's been discussed before, I have not read about it.

So why don't people hate on Terrell Manning for leaving early, or any basketball player we've ever had who left a year early? It's the exact goddamn same thing. It's not like he left to transfer to UNC or another school that we played last year. It was Wisconsin. It might as well have been the NFL.

The dude graduated from State, lead us to our best season in years and still talks highly of us, as evidenced from the post game. If you don't like him then that's your decision, but why come shit all over the thread? Have you nothing else better to do?

^ Anyway, the post game presser is on the Seahawks website. Just look for the Video Player.

SERIOUSLY? It was probably the most discussed football related thing EVER last year. How the hell do you have 80,000 posts if you haven't seen this?

because it's one thing to leave early and it's another to demand the coach bow down to you. i don't know why that's so hard for some people to understand.

for real though, there is a big difference in going pro early like Mario did or CJL after this year, compared to playing for another school

of course i'd be a lot more neutral about it if the motherfucker didn't beat the Panthers today

It's really NOT different (transferring vs. leaving early). You can say whatever you want about the minor details that none of us really know but the bottom line is VERY simple: RW transferred to get a better shot at boosting his draft stock. It's a selfish decision just like leaving early is a selfish decision.

And BOTH selfish decisions are completely justified.

It's your decision to like him or dislike him, I can understand the frustration that we lost such a good player, but some of us still enjoy watching the most entertaining football player NCSU has had in years.

It IS different, because he knew exactly what he was doing, but he instead tried to throw TOB under the bus to garner some sympathy. When Manning left, he didn't do that. he just said "I'm out, thanks wolfpack!" THAT is what I don't like, and it's what others don't like. If he had just said "hey, I'm gonna go play elsewhere, k?" I'd have had more respect for him. Instead, he tried to draw things out, putting our program in turmoil, just so he could hype himself up. Fuck him. Putting yourself first is one thing, but doing that while simultaneously shitting on those that helped you get where you are? yeah, worlds different

Where did you get all of that shit from? Dude realized he sucked at baseball, called up TOB, found out he might not start since he missed spring practices and decided transfer to a school where he would start and get a shitload more national recognition. Very selfish, but very justified.

Because he did that, rather than going probably 9-4 in a shitty conference he went 11-3 in a powerhouse conference, won the conference championship, had a shot at winning the Rose Bowl, got drafted in the third round and is now starting in the NFL as a 5'11" QB. Pretty sure that would not have happened if he played his final year with us and I'm pretty sure he knew that too.

I'm going to bed, the stupidity in here gives me a headache.

*EDIT* And for the record I felt MUCH more slighted by Terrell Manning's early departure than RW transferring to Wisconsin. I didn't understand that move at all.

^^I understand that many people don't agree that RW is the devil

and sure I've probably overstated it somewhat in this thread, and I don't truly hate the guy, but I also don't understand the undying love for him either.

It certainly rubbed me (and a lot of other state fans) the wrong way on how the whole situation went down.

yet to discuss it is like speaking the name "Voldemort" out loud.

I like Russell. The only semi-classless/mishandled thing by him in his departure was he made one comment in one interview about not being given a fair shot at the starting job. Other than that comment, his leaving early for professional baseball and then eventual transfer is no different than anyone else who left early. He was on the team for 4 years, graduated, and then did what was best for his future. That's my recollection of events 2 years later.

"N.C. State quarterback Russell Wilson picks baseball over spring practice
Comments 1
By Erick Smith, USA TODAY
Updated 2010-01-20 3:12 PM
North Carolina State sophomore quarterback Russell Wilson will miss all of spring practice in order to spend a complete season with the Wolfpack baseball team.

The decision is part of an ongoing agreement between coach Tom O'Brien and Wilson, who led the ACC with 31 touchdown passes in 2009.

Wilson split time during spring practice and the baseball team last year, including playing half the spring game before leaving to play in a baseball game later that day.

A 41st-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in the MLB draft in 2007, Wilson is eligible to be selected this summer. If he is taken high, Wilson could decide to forgo his final two seasons of football. At 5-foot-11, he is not expected to be an NFL quarterback prospect."

Quote :

If anyone was indecisive it was TOB. TOB set the precedent by allowing him to miss spring practice throughout his college football career. Then all of a sudden if he misses, HE'S NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO COMPETE FOR A STARTING JOB??? He wasn't told that he wouldn't be named the starter that he would have to earn it, he was just flat out told no. If TOB had a problem with players missing spring practice, that should have been the case from the beginning. Just as every year prior, Wilson didn't need spring practice, Wisconsin didn't seem to have a problem with it. Wilson arrived in July, and learned an entire new offense and playbook by the end of August.

Smath74, you said you hadn't seen this discussion but you were involved in the same exact discussion only one page back in this exact thread.

All I was saying is that this is a really old discussion and some (most, really) still like Wilson or at least enjoy watching him play. Hopefully we don't keep hearing about how he fucked our program every week for the rest of his NFL career.

If anything Smath don't you think you should be mad at our coach for the way he callously dismissed our starting QB after he carried the team for three years and was directly responsible for earning TOB a ton of $$$ by keeping him in his job?

We should admire Russells support for the wolfpack despite his horrible mistreatment here after achieving legendary status in only three seasons.

Just to be clear. The man threw less ints his entire freshman season than glennon throws most games.

The video is on the Seahawks website, but it cuts out at the end right before he says "Go Pack".

Quote :
"At the end of his post-game press conference, Wilson was asked if he was able to catch N.C. State’s 17-16 upset victory against Florida State the night before. Wilson, the Wolfpack’s three-year starter before transferring to Wisconsin, admitted the game kept him up later than he wanted, but he was pleased with the outcome.

“Thanks, guys,” Wilson said stepping away from the podium. “Go Pack.”

well yes but that was only a few days ago. you people said this conversation happened years ago.

and I am open to hearing other opinions... but everybody automatically goes into tuff-guy bro-fence mode instead (not surprising for you people on tdub)

And the fact that he said "go pack" is good... I'm glad he gives the occasional shout out to NC State... I hadn't heard anything like that before now though.

Page 19 of the TOB credibility thread is a nice place to start, probably goes on for 10s of pages. And yeah it was just over a year ago, people have beat that topic to death ever since.

I honestly had no problem with RW leaving to go play baseball and all that mess...until this interview. The one where he tried to throw the entire program under the bus. His definition of "equal opportunity" shows how selfish he was in the process.
