I like how people are saying tbdv will never be as good as painter, when the last two years painter was the worst scholarship player on the team.He improved leaps and bounds this past season, so I think I'll wait to say shit like that until next year.
4/8/2012 9:32:41 AM
Yeah, I see what you're saying. Maybe a year in the system for Vandy can do the same for him that it did for Painter. It's just that Painter came out looking improved this year while Vandy appeared to be the same waste of space he always was. I just have no confidence in Vandenburg, whatsoever
4/8/2012 9:35:48 AM
With a year in the Gottfried system under his belt, Vandy can play some minutes at PG if he wants to. I saw on Twitter that he's a cyborg now.
4/8/2012 12:33:32 PM
How about we just get Amile jefferson and not have to worry about picking between two crappy players.
4/8/2012 1:12:58 PM
Amile can't play center.Unless we land Andrew Young this year or a guy like Randle next, we are looking at starting Vandy in 2013-14 if we want to run a traditional scheme.I suppose we could get away with Amile and Harris/Warren in the post against smaller teams, but that just won't fly against teams like UNC and Kentucky who always have length inside.
4/8/2012 1:22:30 PM
If Vandy is starting, we won't have to worry about competing against UNC and Kentucky. Jesus christ. Yes, let's take the course of actions that avoid starting Vandy. And yes, putting the 5 best players on the court and running a non-traditional scheme (god forbid ) is better than starting your bench players. That's called good coaching.
4/8/2012 1:32:29 PM
Yeah, we'll need someone to combat their length inside, unless we want to go 0-1 for all of those games we play against UNC and Kentucky next year. And before you say it, what teams are like UNC and Kentucky?
4/8/2012 1:40:00 PM
Jesus christ.

Some guy's ACC prediction for next year has us at #3 with CJL and UNC at 2. I don't see how we are not favored to be in the top two next year with CJL coming back.http://www.shelbystar.com/sports/early-63368-picks-way.html
4/10/2012 12:22:11 PM
I really don't understand how we're getting all this top5 love. top20, sure. But top5? (and UNC at #2 after losing 4 of their 5 starters? that's silly)[Edited on April 10, 2012 at 12:28 PM. Reason : nm, he's talking about acc]
4/10/2012 12:27:06 PM
thats ACC rankings, not national.
4/10/2012 12:28:22 PM
^^^we don't deserve to be in front of unc and duke until we beat them IMO..until then...no matter what the talent level, we deserve to be behind in preseason rankings[Edited on April 10, 2012 at 12:36 PM. Reason : asdf]
4/10/2012 12:36:23 PM
roy williams has coached at unc for nine seasons now, and has finished first or tied for first six times, and second once. the other two seasons were his first and the larry drew II disaster season (where we were their only two wins in a stretch of 12 games jesus christ). this is not his first time losing a lot of players. to assume they'll finish middle of the conference is silly.
4/10/2012 1:15:35 PM
who's assuming they'll finish middle of the conference?
4/10/2012 1:36:00 PM
When TBDV becomes the dominant force we all know he can will become, the court at PNC Arena will be known as TBDV's Land Down Under where opponents will make sacrifices to him in the form of vegemite sandwiches before each game. Book it.
4/10/2012 1:43:53 PM
They need to keep in mind that he prefers cookies, pizza and soda over bitter hot drinks.
4/10/2012 1:47:55 PM
Haven't seen it posted, sorry if old. @jpgiglio Lost in the Leslie non-news yesterday and Greene news today, N.C. State basketball is going to play 5 games in Spain in August
4/10/2012 11:23:15 PM
i thought that was announced a week or two agoya at least:http://www.statefansnationforums.com/topic.php?id=7105
4/10/2012 11:47:33 PM
it wasn't officially announced until a couple days ago I think, but it leaked out awhile ago
4/10/2012 11:55:28 PM
4/11/2012 8:16:35 AM
I assume that's not a huge loss?
4/11/2012 8:19:13 AM
So that's back to 2 scholarships available?
4/11/2012 8:21:18 AM
This gives the coaching staff some recruiting flexibility. sign another transfer or JUCO
4/11/2012 8:22:58 AM
I guess he didn't like his chances at getting a starting position
4/11/2012 8:27:08 AM
Goodnight, sweet prince
4/11/2012 8:35:01 AM
Best of luck to him. I'm afraid he was never going to get anything more than scrub minutes. Good decision.
4/11/2012 8:46:57 AM
I forget, did he play at all this year? If not, he can play immediately right?
4/11/2012 8:49:17 AM
The last game I remember him in was the BC game in the ACC tourney.
4/11/2012 8:50:41 AM
Yeah, he came in and got some minutes late in the game during a few blowouts.
4/11/2012 8:51:15 AM
Who'll date Gottfried's daughter now?
4/11/2012 8:51:36 AM
best of luck to him...i guess it's not too surprising considering he only got mop up minutes this past season and we've got an even deeper backcourt this coming year.
4/11/2012 9:03:34 AM
i looked up his stats. Played 29 minutes in 11 games
4/11/2012 9:10:52 AM
sounds like it's official, tyler harris tweeted:
4/11/2012 9:16:47 AM
no offense to the guy, but this is great news
4/11/2012 9:32:10 AM
yeah - trading raymond for some taller, stronger low post depth = win
4/11/2012 9:34:36 AM
4/11/2012 9:45:40 AM
probably the best decision for him. Hope he can get some good minutes somewhere else.
4/11/2012 9:50:21 AM
4/11/2012 9:53:33 AM
^^^^^^^ deeper backcourt this year? We now have 3 scholarship guards. 3. 2 of whom are freshmen. 1 of whom is a tiny little dude.We are dangerously thin in the backcourt now. Hopefully Graham is lined up to prep and come in next year.
4/11/2012 10:01:49 AM
4/11/2012 10:08:51 AM
^^ yeah, true. Must've meant deeper talent-wise
4/11/2012 10:09:43 AM
Yeah, I would prefer we have him next year to back-up lorenzo, tyler and rodney. we might need to try to pick-up another guard in 2012, but at this point in the game i'm not sure if we can get anybody as good as a sophomore raymond.
4/11/2012 10:09:57 AM
Might Wood have to move to the 2 (at least part-time) if we don't grab any more guards?
4/11/2012 10:12:57 AM
Good, now we can sign noel and muhammad.
4/11/2012 10:14:23 AM
If torian graham becomes eligible in the next couple of years, I'd imagine he'd be willing to play for us.
4/11/2012 10:15:02 AM
No way, that'd be a disaster. Raymond leaving has little to do with our rotatation. Purvis is a true 2 and Zo can slide over easily when Lewis runs point..[Edited on April 11, 2012 at 10:15 AM. Reason : ^^^]
4/11/2012 10:15:06 AM
Wood may have to spend some time at the 2 if we have an injury in the backcourt. On the bright side, we could potentially sign both Jefferson and Young this month.[Edited on April 11, 2012 at 10:16 AM. Reason : 2]
