time to break the 7 win barriersuper glad to see Smitty extended. this offseason has been full of mostly boneheaded moves, so this comes as a nice reprieve

in other news, Auburn is unveiling statues for all of their Heisman winners prior to their spring game on Saturday. I will be traveling through Auburn on Saturday. Pictures will be taken either Saturday or on the way back up the next week.

Andrew Brandt ? @adbrandt Steve Smith extension: 10M signing bonus, 1M salary this year; 3M bonus, 3.75M salary next. 17.75M over first 2 yrs, all guaranteed.Andrew Brandt ? @adbrandt Smith was scheduled to make $7.75M w/Panthers this year; will now make $11M while reducing his Cap number by $4.75M. NFL freakonomics.

the flavor of the day draft pick at 9th for today is BigFletcher Cox
4/11/2012 2:38:51 PM
I suppose I would be happy with Fletcher Cox....definitely think we'd be reaching on Poe. Honestly at #9 I'd rather we take Floyd, a corner, or (best of all) trade down. But, having a DT who could contribute day 1, plus a healthy beason, would be huge for our D. And then there is the wildcard that is Thomas Davis. Conventional wisdom would say that he is done, but he might be the most motivated and focused athlete in history about returning from injury. Hopefully this surgery by Dr. Andrews is worth something.[Edited on April 11, 2012 at 2:58 PM. Reason : i am starting to get on board the gilmore hype train]
4/11/2012 2:57:34 PM
Taylor Zarzour was all about some Fletcher Cox this afternoon. As one of the few souls who actually watched the Wake/Miss St bowl game this year, I can tell you that guy is a beast.I'm still wanting Luke Kuechly if Claiborne doesn't fall, but I'd take Cox over Coples, Poe, Brockers, etc

4/17/2012 6:07:26 PM
damn, i was hoping that'd be a regular game so i could go without having to take off of work.
4/17/2012 6:08:22 PM
So you didn't just plan to watch it on TV three posts ago? I apologize for my dyslexia
4/17/2012 6:09:23 PM
Thursday and Monday games are the best since you can still go and tailgate without missing all the other games on Sunday. Best of both worlds.
4/17/2012 6:10:21 PM
i was just pointing out that even if you dont have NFL Network, you can watch Thursday Night Panthers games on Fox in the local market
4/17/2012 6:11:42 PM
Raleigh ain't local sonIts usually a plus, since they don't get blacked out of FOX/CBS doubleheaders when we have a home game on the same networkBut in this case, it buttfucks themWHY ARE YOU STILL WITH TIME WARNER CABLE
4/17/2012 6:14:13 PM
cause i can bundle and save, and watch tv when its raining
4/17/2012 6:15:29 PM
Oldest excuse in the book!"The biggest perk with Time Warner is the "Start Over" button, which you may use two or three times ever. Tree and I plan to put it to good use for our Yes, Dear marathon this weekend."
4/17/2012 6:19:30 PM
somebody sounds upset they can't watch Cooking at Home with Dan EatonNow we're going to use this butter and lube up these potatoes before I stick them up my ass]
4/17/2012 6:23:53 PM
Somebody else sounds upset that they'll miss over 90 percent of the Thursday Night games this year
4/17/2012 6:27:02 PM

4/17/2012 7:09:51 PM
All right, I''ll give you this one. But I still prefer being able to watch them regardless.I like our slate; woulda thought Denver coming here would be primetime. Got a goo chance to be 2-0 heading into the Giants game, especially with all the Saints suspensions. And doesn't it seem like we play them the last game of the year like every year?
4/17/2012 7:12:05 PM
And how do the Falcons get 4 night games? Yeah, technically, they're a better team than us, but objectively, who would rather watch Matt Ryan than Cam?
4/17/2012 7:14:01 PM
two of the night games are on Thursday nightthats how much the league thinks of the Falcons marketabilitymaybe we'll get a flex game with them in week 14]
4/17/2012 7:15:11 PM
was hoping for a Sunday nighter scheduled, but I guess they'll have to earn it in flex time
4/17/2012 7:15:27 PM
Problem is, look at the SNF games scheduled in weeks 11-16. Most of them are pretty fucking sexy.
4/17/2012 7:25:39 PM
and most of our games those last few weeks aren't was definitely expecting more primetime games, but I guess we haven't quite gotten there yet
4/17/2012 7:30:21 PM
Smith talking to Eisen and Warner on NFL Network right now on the phone
4/17/2012 7:38:30 PM
i normally don't like division games too early, but i'm glad to have the Saints in week 2...they are gonna have some suspensions most likely
