Pacing really seems off this season. Introduce Mike's lawyer, Get Hank on Mike's lawyer, Mike's lawyer flips... all in like 10 minutes. I don't know, this season just hasn't impressed me much.
8/28/2012 12:21:21 PM
Yeah they are really speeding things up this season. I think two full 16 episode seasons instead of two 8 episode seasons was what they really needed. To me the biggest sore thumb in pacing is the fact that it has only been one year since the show started. I really don't see why they couldn't have skipped to his 52nd birthday at least. Pretty much makes it seem that the show is gonna take place over two years (based on the flash forward), which seems a little off to me based on how strong some of the relationships have been.
8/28/2012 12:43:18 PM
^^While I agree overall, wasn't Mike's lawyer introduced a few episodes ago when he went in to visit some of the Legacy? He just got fleshed out and finished off in the latest episode.
8/28/2012 2:49:57 PM
Hmm, I don't remember that. Still, it sucks that it all comes crashing down(probably) because of some small time character.
8/28/2012 2:55:09 PM
There was a point where Mike and some other guy were visiting some inmates after the asian guy tried to kill Mike. I think Mike was the lawyer's "assistant" and the lawyer put on his headphones and dicked around while Mike and the inmate talked about not snitching.I thought the lawyer was that guy, but I could be mistaken[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 5:39 PM. It was that guy. Mike was his "paralegal". The lawyer was introduced early on. I don't really know why he would have needed much more screen time before now.
8/28/2012 5:41:55 PM
He's a nobody that seemingly caused everything to fall apart. Not the type of writing the series is known for.
8/28/2012 6:12:58 PM
He didn't cause everything to fall apart. Mike was already going to be gone. This was just the final straw that got.him out the door
8/28/2012 6:48:52 PM
mikes end was definitely cold and brutal. I wasn't really expecting it and another curve ball into the season. I mean you can tell how walt's twisted justification is just going out of control; this is just to setup how even his rational mind is making irrational choices from the heat of the moment.I was planning on seeing walt trying to deal with mike in a more civilized, panic, damage control state of mind instead of doing his own dirty work. What was his plan after shooting mike to net the names of the guys?

^^whoops, random extra period. Typed that from my phone. This post is gonna be somewhat spoilerish as it will include promo stuff, I know some people dont watch those so be warned.... Next episode is called Gliding Over All, i am assuming named after the Walt Whitman poem of the same name. The last line is Death, Many deaths Ill sing. The promos show one of the nine agreeing to rat them out, followed by someone getting stabbed in prison. My assumption is Walt goes full villain and with Lydias help orders the death of all of them to make sure no others try and talk. This ends the season with Walt on top and the only potential obstacle being Hank.[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 8:10 PM. Reason : a]

This just in, Walt wins the lotto, turns into a Chilean chief, buys a chicken franchise and goes legit.
9/2/2012 1:38:12 AM
^^ not necessarily. that could easily be a flashforward to the end of the entire series (i.e. next year's second half)

I watch this shit religiously, but can't recollect how that book got in Walt's bathroom. I thought Hank had it when he and Walt were discussing "W.W". Please to clarify.
9/2/2012 11:23:11 PM
i think it was in Gale's lab notebook, but I need to refresh my memory as well
9/2/2012 11:25:17 PM
Yeah I think you're right. So he wrote the same dedication in a book he gave to Walt?
9/2/2012 11:28:05 PM
dunno i need to google the episode and rewatch it on netflixi mean i have like 10 months to do it but now i want to
9/2/2012 11:29:35 PM
Walt found the book when he was moving his stuff back in earlier this season. He looked at it and kinda chuckled. Earlier in this episode, it showed the book sitting there in Walt's bathroom as he was coming out of the shower.
9/2/2012 11:44:41 PM
I'll echo what everyone is saying about pacing. I thought this episode was good but not their best. I love how Walt was gonna rub out Lydia, but the way Hank finds the dedication was kinda cheesy. I feel like they kinda wrote themselves into a corner, but I guess we only have 8 episodes left anyway..
9/2/2012 11:57:44 PM
^^Yep. Appreciate it.
9/3/2012 12:02:29 AM
plot hole:walt jr said "one moment" to his "friend," what is he, a best buy employee?
9/3/2012 12:33:52 AM
Of course, a reasonable alibi could be Walt bought it at a thrift store/pawn shop, but nope. Gonna shoot it out with the DEA instead.
9/3/2012 12:34:17 AM
Except didn't Hank see W.W. in one of Gale's notebooks already? Too much of a coincidence for someone like Hank.
9/3/2012 12:41:08 AM
I was pretty close, figured the last scene was gonna be Hank. Fairly predictable episode but that last scene was still tense as you figured something big had to happen. So next season opens with Hank trying to gather evidence on Walt?
9/3/2012 12:48:09 AM
9/3/2012 12:49:10 AM
I could see them starting episode 9 off with a montage to simulate the passage of time over the 10 months since the end of the mini season, and then getting into Walt's drug lord war from whatever reasonOr not. But, here's tonight's episode in a nutshell[Edited on September 3, 2012 at 1:14 AM. Reason : dfgjkl]
9/3/2012 1:12:12 AM
9/3/2012 1:22:10 AM
So the cancer is back, Walter thinks he's out, and Hank knows. Should make for an interesting last 8 episodes.
9/3/2012 1:39:44 AM
Walt obviously has to kill Jesse now, right?
9/3/2012 9:37:18 AM
I wouldn't put it past themsince Jesse was supposed to die in season 1 at some point
9/3/2012 10:09:49 AM
what's Hank's first step? go to Gomez with the hunch or go straight to Walt and grill him with a mindfuck?
9/3/2012 10:21:11 AM
has this been posted yet? i didn't run through the whole thread for it:https://clayton-hanson.squarespace.com/breaking-calvin-season-1/

Hank will probably realize why they've been watching the kids, he might get Skyler to admit some things before he talks to WaltI thought it was odd that Marie was wearing yellow in that patio scene[Edited on September 3, 2012 at 10:48 AM. Reason : ]
