Good call - thanks The only thing that worries me about doing the latte version is I'm not sure how some people would react to it.. I definitely don't want the flavor to be too strong - just a hint. We'll see how it goes. After this, I want to make those almond joy cupcakes

Mini lavender cupcakes with lavender vanilla glaze. Not a huge fan of icing, so I glazed. They were amazing.[Edited on October 8, 2011 at 8:49 PM. Can anyone point me towards a good banana cupcake recipe?
10/12/2011 4:24:56 PM
I've made these before and they were awesomehttp://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Banana-Cupcakes-with-Peanut-Butter-Frosting-358240
10/12/2011 4:25:45 PM
Thank you! Also, my last two cupcakes have come out very dense, and coincidentally they are they only two i have made with the kitchenaid. Do you think i am over mixing them? I was using a handmixer before and never had this problem.
10/12/2011 4:29:38 PM
Yeah you're probably over mixing them. Sifting the flour helps a ton as well.
10/12/2011 4:32:19 PM
Google Biggest Loser cupcakes and add banana. That's what I do
10/12/2011 4:43:26 PM
i made these banana cupcakes last nighthttp://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Banana-Cupcakes-3really good. the banana/lemon icing really makes them pop. however, if you follow the recipe, you end up with icing that ends up more like a glaze that won't hold any shape. i ended up adding extra powdered sugar to offset.[Edited on October 13, 2011 at 10:31 AM. Tonight I'm making caramel mocha cupcakes and the pumpkin spice latte cupcakes. Need to remember to swing by Starbucks after work to get the coffee stuff.
10/13/2011 10:35:46 AM
anyone have a good recipe for some pumpkin spice cupcakes? would LOVE these. mmm
10/13/2011 10:36:08 AM
I'm just using a basic yellow cake recipe, subbing the oil for pumpkin, and adding the spices to it like I would for something like pumpkin bread. Healthyish and pumpkin
10/13/2011 10:37:52 AM
Someone make me some cupcakes These all sound and look delicious!
10/13/2011 10:51:38 AM
ok so, due to the bread thread I decided to make this pumpkin bread recipe today. it is sooooooooo good.http://allrecipes.com/recipe/pumpkin-bread-iv/detail.aspxif you are going to make this, please keep in mind that A SINGLE BATCH MADE 3 LOAVES OF BREAD AND A DOZEN MUFFINS. I will be giving most of this away to coworkers and neighbors i did modify this recipe a bit because 1) i didn't want to use that much oil and 2) i didn't have ground cloves so I subbed out 1 cup of the oil for unsweetened applesauce and used 3 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I also added 1 big bag of walnuts. I had some cream cheese frosting in the pantry that was about to expire so i decided to make a glaze out of it. I added 5 tbsp skim milk and drizzled it on top. Or I will when the loaves are done cooling. They took about 15 minutes longer to bake than the hour the recipe states.pics or gtfothey are huge pics so ya'll will just have to click on them[Edited on October 13, 2011 at 2:31 PM. Reason : and yea not cupcakes but muffins are close]]

Cupcakes done! I was a dumbass and piled the icing on the caramel mocha cupcakes too high so my cupcake caddy squished them At least I got a pic before that happened Caramel mocha in the front, pumpkin spice in the back.[Edited on October 13, 2011 at 9:19 PM. Reason : k]

10/13/2011 9:35:52 PM
I want to eat one of my cupcakes so bad but lunch isn't until noon
10/14/2011 10:19:29 AM
Anyone tried out a cake pop pan?
10/14/2011 10:22:59 AM
no, but i saw a book in michaels all about cake pops and no special pan was required
10/14/2011 10:24:37 AM
I have not but I have ones of these castiron ones I use for making pancake balls and cornbread balls I've never even thought to try and make cake balls in it. This is going to sound like an incredibly dumb question but can you bake cake in cast iron?
10/14/2011 10:25:56 AM
i would think so
10/14/2011 10:39:18 AM
Gg, wolfpackgrr- I slacked so I'm making mine this weekend I'm glade the straw idea turned out good though.. I was worried it would look siloy
10/14/2011 11:19:00 AM
It worked out too because I had these old ass stale cinnamon sticks that I had been holding on to for no good reason Finally got rid of them!Everyone raved about the cupcakes, especially the pumpkin. Definitely a hit. I even had the Belgian guy in our office say, "Congratulations. This was the first time I had a good cupcake."
10/14/2011 1:32:58 PM
Oh yeah, and those Starbucks instant coffee things were perfect! Just use one per recipe and it gives the perfect amount of coffee flavor without being too intense. I used the Italian roast version.
10/14/2011 1:35:21 PM
Sweet, thanks I think I'm going to go with those pirouette cookies for straws. I need to pick up some baking pumpkins.. I think I'm going to make the coffee flavor into a filling though. Undecided atm.

Caramel Mocha recipe, please! Looks fantastic.Starbuck's has the pumpkin cream cheese muffin again, I would love to try to make those.
10/14/2011 8:00:16 PM
Who has a good milk chocolate buttercream recipe? Monkey liked his last time, but I didn't think it was chocolate-y enough.
10/14/2011 9:37:40 PM
^^ I just took a standard chocolate cake recipe and added a Starbucks instant coffee packet to it. Then I used the caramel icing recipe about two pages back.
10/15/2011 12:13:04 PM
Definitely going to make some broken glass cupcakes for Halloween
10/15/2011 12:18:18 PM
Yes! Dye the candy green or brown to look like broken beer bottles
10/15/2011 6:51:22 PM

10/15/2011 8:40:04 PM
Did y'all know they have a cupcake competition at the fair? It looked like there were only a few applicants this year and none of the cupcakes looked all that impressive. I might try entering next year.

10/17/2011 1:24:05 PM
Thanks they were a big hit (along with the pumpkin bread)I didn't have any of it though. That kinda sucked.
10/17/2011 5:31:10 PM
I think next time I have to make cupcakes I'm going to try making these spumoni cupcakes.http://www.howtoeatacupcake.net/2009/03/ironcupcake008-spumoni-cupcakes.htmlPistachio icing sounds like the best thing ever.
10/17/2011 5:32:21 PM
Yah it does. I need to make those raspberry mint cupcakes..
10/17/2011 5:33:07 PM
There's a dessert making contest at my work next week. I'm debating making those spumoni cupcakes or making red velvet whoopie pies. I have a feeling more people would enjoy the red velvet.
11/9/2011 7:19:13 PM
I almost bought the mix for pumpkin whoopie pies at Parker & Otis on Monday...I thought it would be a good treat for our tailgate next weekend.
11/9/2011 7:26:35 PM

I'm actually thinking of making pumpkin chocolate whoopie pies for Friday (recipe from Martha Stewart's food magazine)
11/9/2011 11:20:53 PM
I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin and chocolate together. Most I can do is chocolate chips in pumpkin bread and that's only on rare occasions.
11/10/2011 8:09:59 AM
Oh just a general PS, the pumpkin spice latte cupcake recipe makes a REALLY yummy pumpkin bread to bring somewhere in a pinch I also ended up adding more nutmeg to mine than the recipe called for, tasted a lot better and did not overpower anything.
11/10/2011 8:47:55 AM
I think I will make the whoopie pies + these this weekhttp://www.howsweeteats.com/2011/08/milk-chocolate-cupcakes-with-fresh-mint-frosting/Milk Chocolate Cupcakes w/ Fresh Mint FrostingI have some chocolate mint I've been dying to use... woot
