am i the only one who thought Jussi played very poorly the entire 2nd half of the season, and that $3M a year is obscene?

He's put up 117 pts the last 2 seasons. That alone should tell you he's worth $3m

Any random speculation on a backup goalie? Gerber, Legace, and John Grahame are all available for recycling

Come to think of it, so is Belanger for a recycled 4th line center.

Brent won 52% of FO's last year and kills penalties well. Solid signing to center the 4th line.

Also, to make Jussi's deal look better, FLA signed Scottie Upshall to a 4yr/$14m deal.

To continue making Jussi's deal look better, Radim "I shoot at the crest" Vrbata just got 3 yrs at $3m per from PHX

Pretty stoked about Tim Brent.

He's a solid fourth liner and blocks shots like no ones business. He's good in the faceoff circle and put up 20 points. Was what, a -3 in Toronto playing on the 3rd / 4th line? Not shabby.

Plus it's under $1Mil. Good job JR.

I hate that he makes good deals like Jussi and Brent days after going out and signing LaRose.

Boucher seems like a pretty solid sign. I don't like Tlusty being back though, would've rather had a 4th line of Brent, Bodie, Samson/Bowman. As long as Tlusty stays on the 4th line I don't mind it, but I feel like Maurice is gonna give him every chance he can to stick on the 3rd line and again give Brandon Sutter no wingers to work with.

He has for Maurice, but still doesn't fit the schema. Should be interesting, but damnit can we just go ahead and trade for Hemsky to give Staal a legitimate winger and to keep Skinner separate from him so we are not a 1 line team.

I love the Facebook page. It brings the lolz. Cole is a traitor, he took the money that Montreal gave him. Shit if I had the choice of 18 Million over 4 years or whatever Carolina offered. I'd take the 18M if it is more than Carolina. I mean can you blame the guy? It's a business first and foremost.

Plus the comments on spending money on a big name, we don't have money to do so. Our fans are delusional.

every facebook comment has me laughing and at the same time

I especially loved this one:

Quote :
"alright jump on the wagon and join cole. first thats there TRADITION were a new market and we are DEDICATED. second when we make the playoffs we go far to the conference finals or the stanley cup finals. now would you rather make it every year and get knocked out every year in the 1st round or make it every couple years and have potential of making it to the finals and winning it all"

Anyone keeping track of how much we have left in the piggy bank?

I wonder if we could squeeze in Selanne for a year or two now that he's on the way out in Anaheim

I don't think Selanne is going to want to go to a team that isn't a legit contender, unless it's Winnipeg.

If Sutter signs for $2 million and Joslin for $750k, we have about $2.6 million left under a $50 million budget.

Soryal will probably spend most of the season in Charlotte.

Stewart I really like. I think he is going to keep that fucker LaRose off the top 3.

^ i was at that game, that sukced.

along with his dive celebration.

Anyway, I like this signing.

Quote :
"Stewart was born in LaSalle, Quebec in 1985 the oldest of seven siblings, to Norman and Sue Stewart.[1][2] Norman, immigrated to Canada from Jamaica in 1974 in search of a better life. He mainly worked seasonal jobs such as landscaping or construction upon arriving in Canada.[3] His mother was a stay-at-home mom.[2] The family moved to Toronto, Ontario the year after Stewart's birth.[1] During his childhood the family was evicted from their home and moved to a subsidized shelter in a "rough" neighbourhood of Scarborough, Toronto.[3][1] Stewart began skating at the age of four and started playing hockey when he was five.[1] As a young hockey player Anthony and Norman would often walk to hockey games and practices, on one such occasion the two were walking in a "blizzard" when they picked up by a fellow hockey parent, Bob Ziemendorf, who was driving his child to the same place.[4] After the practice they were driven home by Ziemendorf who began driving the family on a regular basis and helped them financially with the cost of hockey and groceries.[1][4] During a particularly trying time for the family, Stewart moved in with Ziemendorf and his family for over a year and a half.[5] Stewart later stated that he believed without this help he would not have been able to succeed in making the National Hockey League (NHL).[1]"
