http://www.estatesales.net/estate-sales/264975.aspxI can't go to this, and don't have anything to spend if I could. No idea what the prices would be like, but Raleigh folks, it's totally worth checking out. Whoever collected this stuff has tapped into my vein or something; records, posters, sci-fi-related, classic comics, etc etc etc.I feel like throwing up. Early psych. And they're all in plastics....[Edited on March 12, 2012 at 1:48 AM. Reason : k]

If they have any original EC comics for cheap, buy as many as possible and I'll gladly pay commission or whatever. Not gonna say anything about the records. I'm sure they're all so awesome it's worth taking a loan out for. Ugh...[Edited on March 12, 2012 at 2:01 AM. Reason : k]

If you didn't go to this sale, you missed a ton of good shit. Most albums were 5 bucks each. Can't even beginn to describe what I acquired...

oh man, i have to work this weekend, or i'd totally be there.LAME
3/17/2012 9:21:39 AM
At this point, everything is so picked over, it's not worth going probably. Most records were $5-7 and all of them were in VG-NM condition. Lots of early psych, as described. Love, the Left Banke, every stones/beatles/dylan/pink floyd album ever recorded, as with Jefferson Airplane etc etc etc etc, QSMS, Canned Heat, Country Joe, the list is too large to describe. Dude also had a phenomenal blues and country selection. My compadres found some awesome early punk albums and 12 cent comic bags for around 20-30 bucks a bag. I also acquired two turntables for $5 a piece with really awesome cartridges on them that, alone, are worth way more than $5. The only thing overpriced in my opinion were the posters. The original screenprints had tack holes in most of them, and were still being sold off for around 200 each. Overall a ridiculous sale. We were 21-23 in line and got there at 630ish, though. We also had to deal with extreme record nerds. However, I spent a little over $100 and could easily sell everything I attained for way more than that.Oh, and I was supposed to look for Odyssey and Oracle for somebody, and yes they had it, but it was gone before we were even let in the house. I wish there was a way for me to record the noise coming off this idler wheel on this table I picked up at that sale, to steer you folks clear of wanting direct motor-driven tables ever again...[Edited on March 19, 2012 at 10:31 PM. Reason : k]

I wouldn't trade my 1200 for anything.

Ed McKay is rarely a gold mine, but there's always at least one hilariously underpriced record.Today it was a SEALED copy of Califone's "Quicksand/Cradlesnakes" for $8, which is less than a third of what it goes for in regular, decent shape.
3/21/2012 3:58:21 PM
Cool. Good score, man. That's Modest Mouse folks, right? Not familiar with it, really...

one of my friends made a joke a while back that jack white designed a chair that you couldn't actually sit in. that record is not much different.

I have a Kenwood KD-1600 I would like to get 50 bucks for if anyone wants a simple, starter turntable. The great thing about it is the cartidge. Grado Gold with lots of life left. Very respectable cartridge. PM if interested.

Record Store Day is this Saturday, and I'm not as thrilled about it as social media wants me to be. I think it's because I can't really participate in it this year...
4/15/2012 11:36:43 PM
that white stripes 7'' looks cool, but i don't care enough about it or anything on the list to get to a record store super early on a saturday.
4/16/2012 12:52:50 AM
Does anyone care about Buckingham Nicks? I got a minty one yesterday, but only because it was a good deal.

5/3/2012 10:56:01 PM
No good steals at Ed McKay today (though they did have a copy of the third Allscars for $8), but I found a Doctor Who version of Heady Fwends, so that was cool.
5/4/2012 5:44:02 PM
^^Wow, good find. I'm holding on to Yield for that price reason. I think it's an album worth actually listening to, so that's another...

Got one of my all time favorites in the mail the other day.

Been a while since I posted here, but I wanted to tell you that I started a Discogs page for the things I could do without in my collection, or things I have doubles of, etc. If interested, please go to my page! (also, please ignore my dumb screenname that I made before I had any intentions of doing this and had to log in for something. seriously, it won't let me change it). http://www.discogs.com/user/ItchyandScratchyRecsAlso, ignore the prices. IF interested in any of the things I put up, shoot me a PM or message me on Discogs and we can just do a local meeting or something. Definitely willing to price things cheaper if I don't have to go through shipping or any other red tape. Also willing to do deals on multiples etc. I will be adding titles pretty regularly and will try to let you folks know when I do.[Edited on July 8, 2012 at 4:39 PM. Reason : k]

AMP FOR SALE - The Realistic STA-125 I've mentioned in this thread will be for sale soon. Works perfectly. I've switched to a Marantz 2000 series as my main amp and I'm letting this one go. Look it up; very decent amp. Real wood casing, etc. $50 (very good price for this, folks). PM me if interested, but will most likely be gone by next week. Thanks!by the way - Rat Soup, how is that Superscope? You satisfied with it still? Let me know. Always like to hear feedback.[Edited on July 15, 2012 at 11:46 AM. Reason : k]

Just put up 15 or so more things. If you're into 60s psych, that Spinach album rules. Highly recommend. Not asking for much on it. Help me clear out my collection, folks!

I might have to spring for the Third Man Vault package this quarter. LP and 45 of their first two performances ever.
7/26/2012 12:34:58 AM
i'm debating on that one. i got a vault package before and ended up being kind of underwhelmed by it for various reasons. i can't help but think that those shows will sound like crap and that i'll most likely never listen to them and they'll just be a cool thing that i spent $60 on one time. i guess stuff like this is the reason they started doing the vault though, so i don't know.
7/26/2012 1:45:38 PM
The first two Stripes records and those early singles are my favorite stuff by them. Still debating, but this is the first Vault package that really has my attention.
7/26/2012 3:24:33 PM
I just acquired Saves the Day's first album...if anybody's interested...
8/1/2012 11:28:22 PM
fat possum summer sale all this month. all LPs $10. double LPs $15.
8/7/2012 12:25:45 AM
I think I have 3 albums I preordered. About tired of waiting for albums through the mail. Also drove to Raleigh yesterday to basically pay way too much (for me) on stp's purple and an OG Siamese dream. I have enough stories from the people I've met through collecting records over just the past month to make a pretty interesting book. Also saw vinylbandit at nice price slangin a copy of all things must pass with a busted box for 20 bucks. WTF?
8/8/2012 9:45:48 AM
I didn't price it, so I didn't notice. I usually don't question anybody else's call outside of chick rock.
8/8/2012 12:05:26 PM
I feel like the Raleigh store is the most expensive followed closely by the CH store. Didn't you guys have a 1st press Siamese dream recently? How much did you want for it? I bought this one fir 15, and I kinda regret it.

8/8/2012 4:35:57 PM
The last SD we had was orange and was sold for $35 to a gleeful individual. I happily paid $40 for a minty purple copy, and any of the first three presses (purple/orange/pink) regularly go for $60-100 online.
8/8/2012 8:58:15 PM
^oh snap. I didn't realize it was that big of a deal because it's been in print for a while. Yeah, this is an orange copy that's not shabby at all.She had a copy of Machina with the shrink still on it, but her prices were all pretty stupid, honestly. I was more distracted with the total I paid her than the individual amount. In the longrun, I guess I got a pretty good deal, but wasn't expecting to drop $40 on 4 damned albums. Here's an entertaining, trolling classified ad regarding two Beatles albums:http://raleigh.craigslist.org/clt/3192150855.htmlI see these all the time, though it mostly involves Elvis or other similarly worthless things. A couple weeks back there was another Beatles album listed where the dude was too confused to understand what was on the 1st pressing of Abbey Road. He had some (common, $4) pressing he wanted $70 for. Anyway, I can't quite grasp if the people that make these ads are sincerely trying to sell something to gullible people (not necessarily by lying) through some self-fulfilling idea that what they have is indeed rare, or if they truly believe what they post, i.e. Rare Elvis albums, or "rare Beatles albums" in "fair" condition. Anyway, I always get a pretty good laugh out of them.
8/8/2012 10:43:58 PM
Try dealing with people who want top dollar, let alone anything at all, for Time-Life/Franklin Mint classical LPs.How much was the Machina? Sold my unplayed copy for around $50 about a year ago. Always blows my mind when shitty records go for money like that.
8/8/2012 11:17:32 PM
^^ haha but This is a chance to own the First 2 records produced by the Beatles. Very collectible.
8/9/2012 9:02:39 AM
^^she wanted $30. yeah that album sucks. At the same time that I'm starting some kinda blog that details my experiences with record hunting and that I bet it's hilarious when you get those people in at first, I also really don't envy you. ^was that meet the Beatles I sold you a "version 1"? If so it's worth more than the 5 you paid me for it even at its condition. I hope it is; congrats if so.
8/9/2012 9:42:01 AM
somewhere there is a smashing pumpkins fan who only likes post-machina material
8/9/2012 1:56:33 PM
^^ good question, i'll check when i get home.also i looked into my dad's copy of introducing the beatles. it's one of the fakes. oh well, still plays fine (and that's really all i care about)
8/9/2012 2:11:16 PM
My Mom left me a crate of her old records which included: Please Please Me, Introducing...The Beatles, Meet The Beatles!, The Beatles' Second Album, and A Hard Day's Night all original US releases but most of them dont have the sleeves, the records are in Fair to Good+ condition, and the Covers have her name and little girl doodles around the band's faces.
8/9/2012 2:31:22 PM
^except there was no US please please me. Well not until the 80s or something. Let me know if you're trying to sell some of them. Might be interested even if crappy bc of the girlfriend.
8/9/2012 2:52:46 PM
Just dropped the most money I've dropped on albums in a long time. All original parlophones in VG or better on everything the Beatles came out with (except Please Please Me, let's be real). They sound amazing.
8/10/2012 10:19:18 PM
just picked up 2 copies of beck's sexx laws single, one sealed.there was also a sealed original (supposedly) pressing of vitalogy by pearl jam for $40. The bar code on the sticker looked aged, so maybe it was legit. i'm wondering if it's worth going back to get it. i've seen it go for $100 on ebay, but nothing on discogs seems to be much more than $40, so i don't know. maybe last year's reissue brought the value down.[Edited on August 11, 2012 at 6:06 PM. 8/11/2012 5:37:24 PM
I've probably mentioned this before, but they had 24+ copies of that single for 99 cents each at Schoolkids when they were new. Still wish I had bought more than two, because "Salt in the Wound" is a killer song.
8/11/2012 8:22:33 PM
yeah that song rules. i wish it was on midnite vultures

Anybody score anything good at Kings today?I was out of town. Found 6 Beach Boys albums pre-66 in stereo, if you're into that sort of thing.
