He still has to sit out a year if he transfers to a D-1 school. It's not a release from a LOI, it's a transfer release.

He needed less appreciation and more adult tough love/advice. If doesn't want to be here, it's his right to transfer but that doesn't mean I don't think he is making a big mistake. I think he could have done big things under Gottfried, and we will miss having him a part of the program. His path to the NBA just got more unlikely and circuitous, and he missed a learning/growing opportunity that I hope the rest of the players will take advantage of.

here's how we handle this situation

1) offer Russell Wilson the starting PG role
2) offer Russell Wilson the starting PG role
3) offer Russell Wilson the starting QB role
4) offer Russell Wilson the starting PG role

I'm failing to see how this is going to make his journey to the NBA any harder

good players get found regardless of where they play

Releasing him allows him to play somewhere else

Conditionally, of course

Did you think that everyone else who sat out after transferring only had to because their previous schools were dicks and wouldn't release them?

Dude needs PT ... not a year off to slack off. A different school is not going to increase his chances of getting to the NBA.

NCAA imposes a 1 year penalty for transferring with a release. If a player transfers without a release they have to sit out 2 years (hence why Cam Newton and Brent Schaffer went to JUCO for a year before playing in the SEC).

Actually a year off might be the best thing for Harrow. He will be able to concentrate on bulking up without the rigors of a season.

I'm not going to hate him for wanting to leave

But I don't see why we can't discuss on why it's not really a smart move for him. He has players in the team that he knows and respects, obviously. His one year of experience in the ACC environment won't mean anything now that he's transferring. He was guaranteed a majority of the minutes at PG out of necessity. He had the complete support of the fan base, didn't he? I don't remember anything directed towards him except for people complaining he wasn't playing in crunch time minutes

I just don't understand how all those positives can be totally negated by not having Lowe around for him. I wonder what Brown thinks about it

Brown's thinking that he's a starting point guard in the ACC.

You can discuss whatever you want. But no one here knows the whole story, so it's kind of pointless.

Sounds a lot like Lowe's first year with Atsur running the point and Gavin Grant backing him up (remember that 30+ turnover game at Cincy?).

It really sucks that Harrow is transferring. I had hoped to see him be successful here at State...I was looking forward to watching the trio of CJL, Zo, and RH this coming season. I wish Harrow luck wherever he goes.

Fuckity fuck.

Loved watching Harrow play and loved his attitude about how much he loved State.

Hurts that much more to see him leave.

Why oh why would you do this to me Ryan?!?

I kinda thought when players transferred, schools were just like "oh well buddy, peace" and didn't bother releasing them. Then again, I asked for my release from App when I was a freshman, I probably shoulda paid attention even though I never left. Oh well, where's the "the more you know" pic.

No.

2008 season: Newton is at Florida
2009 season: Newton is at Blinn
2010 season: Newton is at Auburn

This is disheartening because I think he may have developed into a really good player.

Lorenzo is a better point guard than harrow so it really doesn't hurt us that much next year, but t definitely stings our pg and sg depth. It really gives us a huge hole two year from now.

Great job lowe haters, you chased off your favorite player by bitching like schoolgirls all tyear.

Now you will be the same idiots bitching when gottfried doesn't go undefeated with our flawed roster

You just couldn't handle us being on the brink of success could you?

Anyway, harrow was fucking terrible this season so I hope he gets a lot better because he's leaving a perfect situation here as a beloved player who was set to start the next three years with good surrounding talent.

It sounds like he read into his press clippings a bit too much and when he found out he wasn't good enough for ACC basketball yet he couldn't handle the adversity and chose to escape.

Good luck ryan, get your head on straight so you succeed. I was a knucklehead at your age too. Still am sometimes haha.

HAHAHA...we were never close to the brink of success with Lowe at the helm.

This sucks. Hope Harrow does well at whatever school he ends up at, but damn this is a bad decision. Lowe should have stepped in and at least advised him to stay at State for his own good.

Damn, this really sucks. I'm just glad we got the word that Lorenzo and cjl will be back, cause this would seem like the first domino falling. I really thought Harrow would stay and cjl would be the one to leave if anyone did.

This really sucks.

I bet he lands at Fresno state

you say this like you know that he didn't step in

Lowe is classy, loves State, and always will. I'm sure he advised Harrow to stay.

Then again, Lowe is a grown, mature man.

Blinn is not an SEC School, it is a JUCO. If he had transferred to Auburn he would have sat out 2009 AND 2010. Athletes don't have to sit out after going from JUCO to Div I. What don't you understand about this?
