About time to see what Worley can do... sucks that its against a team that is great at pressuring the QB, unless he is really really good I foresee a lot of rushed throws and INTs. And hes never got reps with the first team until this week and they had planned on RS him but with Simms sucking cock Dooley is going to try something different.

Gatorade National Football Player of the Year last year
6'5", 195-pound
from Rock Hill, SC (Spurrier didnt want him)
led the Northwestern Trojans to a 15-0 record and the South Carolina Class 4A-II state title.
threw for 5,315 yards and 64 touchdowns while completing 429 of 590 passes with only 11 interceptions

Just getting back from some Halloween bullshit, didn't watch the game. I see SC's offense was shitty enough to lose as I expected. Damn, Jaybee I now see the light regarding your lack of offensive depth.

The D played well again until they wore down in the second half. The offense was fucking terrible again although this is the third top ten D nationally they have faced in a row so whatever. Worley isn't ready, Simms still sucks, Bray still has a broken thumb. There isn't much hope until Bray heels up.

In short, another cursed, painful year of UT football. Wolfpack, I feel your pain.

hahahahha, awesome story. Nothing surprises me anymore after the last 3 years

Quote :
"It was an hour before kickoff Saturday night at Neyland Stadium and Tennessee coach Derek Dooley was out of kickers. Literally.

Naturally, he called Fraternity Row.

"(Michael) Palardy was hurt," Dooley said after the Vols' 24-0 victory against Middle Tennessee State. "He hurt himself Thursday in practice but we thought he'd be fine. He couldn't go. Then (Chip) Rhome goes out there in pregame and he pulls a muscle."

Good thing for Dooley and the Vols, Derrick Brodus wasn't busy.

"We didn't have a kicker," Dooley said. "And we had to make a call to the frat house. This is no lie. We called the frat house and had a policeman go get him."

Another plus for the Vols: Brodus was sober.

"Let's get a call to Brodus," Dooley recalled telling his staff, "and it's a good thing he wasn't having too much Saturday afternoon (fun). I told the coaches, 'Hey, an intoxicated Brodus is better than nobody.

"Just get him here and we'll do a Breathalyzer. Fortunately, he didn't have anything bad."

Brodus said he got the call around 6:10 p.m., just 50 minutes before kickoff.

"I was just laying on the couch watching football," Brodus said. "Honestly, I didn't know what was going on.

"I thought it was a dream. I was just laying down on the couch relaxing. I answered the phone and they just told me to come to the stadium as soon as possible."

Brodus managed to suit up in time to make good on all three of his point-after attempts. His 21-yard field goal as time expired on the first half helped build Tennessee's halftime lead over Middle Tennessee State to 24-0.

"He suits up and nails three PATs and a field goal," Dooley said, "so he gets the game ball. I was proud of him."

Brodus, a Maryville native, was part of two state-championship football teams at Alcoa High School. He also was an All-State soccer player for the Tornadoes.

"I'm not quite 21 yet," Brodus said, when asked about Dooley's Breathalyzer comments.

"It's a great story," Dooley said. "I'm going to write a book one day about the things that have happened to me in the last two years.

"I've never had that one."

The Search Continues: Tennessee has been looking for a running back all season. That search reached redshirt freshman Jaron Toney on Saturday night.

"I wanted to see Jaron Toney," Dooley said. "We are searching the running game."

Toney, an Alcoa teammate of Brodus' and the 2009 PrepXtra Player of the Year, got his first action in an orange jersey, leading all Tennessee running backs with 19 carries for 52 yards.

"Jaron has really run well in practice for a long time," Dooley said. "He is a walk-on so you just always dismiss him. But we are not lighting it up running the ball and I wanted to see Jaron.

"I should have played him last week."

Toney said he didn't expect the heavy workload, but he loved the chance.

"I'm thankful to get (the carries)," Toney said. "I was just trying to find a crease here and there. I had to get my way through them. It was just a great opportunity.

"It felt good that they had the confidence in me."

Toney was the 2009 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year at Alcoa. He was a Class AA Mr. Football Finalist in 2009, when he scored a TSSAA-record 50 touchdowns and rushed for 2,358 yards in his senior season.

Legends on of the Game: Former center Jeff Smith and former running back Richard Pickens were honored as Tennessee's Legend of the Game.

Smith started all 48 games in his career at UT (1992-95), snapping to a pair of Heisman Trophy runner-up quarterbacks in Heath Shuler and Peyton Manning.

Pickens lettered in 1966-68 had 1,644 rushing yards in his career.

Bray Injury Update: Vols quarterback Tyler Bray said after the game the cast on his fractured thumb would come off Monday. The injury to the thumb also will be r"

UT's D is better than Arkansas' but their offense is light years ahead of the Vols without Hunter and Bray. Satursay's results will probably get ugly.

Attn Tyler Bray: You will be playing in the Vandy game whether you thumb is ready or not. That is all.

yeah, it will be ugly. While we do have a really good pass defense statisically, with Brewer out for the year now we lost our most consistent DB. The guys left are high risk/reward types, so they might get an INT or two against Arkansas but they will also give up lots of big plays and our offense cant keep up without Bray and Hunter. Really sucks cause I was looking forward to this game all year when both of our offenese were unstoppable... was going to be a 45-40 game but now I see it more like 35-13 for Arkanas.

inally got an SEC win and it was a battle. Both teams made a shitload of mistakes, UT just took advantage of more of them. If UT and State both win next week, there is a very good chance that they would meet in the Music City Bowl.

That would be kind of lame. Not because I don't want to go to Nashville and play an SEC team, but because we're opening with Tennessee next year. So Tennessee twice in a row would be strange.

While I appreciate the enthusiasm, especially from Dooley, it just shows how much shit this program has been through the last 4 years to go this ape shit over a Vandy win. Locker room looks nice though.

meh, unfortunately when you are trying to get to 6 wins to be bowl eligible every game is big, plus, this isnt typical Vandy, and also isnt typical UT, especially with the injuries. Was a very nasty game, lots of cut blocks, fights etc. Even though he's a dick, Franklin is getting some attention their way, I have to give him credit for that.

I put this loss squarely at the feet of Cheaney and Dooley. That was some of the worst offensive play calling I've ever witnessed. Why in gods name would you call a wildcat sweep with the center pulling on second and goal when the exact same play was miss-snapped for -16 the previous week? Also, Ky was bring the house the entire 4th quarter and UT never ran a screen, draw or slant, not once. All the routes were long developing deep outs and posts. This was a truely awful coaching job and Dooley has just earned a red hot coaching hotseat for 2012.

Go PACK!!!

depends how long you are looking back.

all time, UT/Bama is the #1 rivalry in the SEC. Bama/Auburn didnt even play for a LONG TIME. Georgia/Auburn were main rivals of each other for decades. If you are looking at recent history (last 20 years) only, then Bama/Auburn and UT/Florida were the biggest. If you are looking at VERY recent history then its Bama/Auburn and no one is Tennessee because they have sucked ass

Well aware it's been posted. I love this thread. And that's certainly the non-objective Vol way of looking at the rivalries. Everyone knows the Alabama/Auburn story (including the 40 year lull), its certainly bigger than UT/Bama no matter how you look at it.

supposedly, according to other players, hes been indefinitely suspended from the team. Which doesnt mean all that much considering its the offseason, but could result in him leaving or being kicked off permanently. UT is denying everything. Who knows.
