Yuck is gonna be big; I'm convinced. At the very least, they will get a solid BNM from Pitchfork.
2/20/2011 5:02:46 PM
got reviewed last week8.1, not BNM'D
2/20/2011 6:43:45 PM
paste gave that album an 8.9
2/20/2011 8:06:23 PM
I am really enjoying Yuck's album and super excited to see them on tour with Tame Impala.
2/21/2011 7:11:04 AM
really enjoyed the Yuck album, but i felt a little let down. to me, it didn't really keep the momentum it gains with Get Away. I really wanted that foot tapping feeling to continue, but it seemed to really mellow out in the middle.
2/21/2011 9:32:38 AM
that Riddimentary: Diplo Selects Greensleeves thingie is very listenable for background music at work.low key, simplistically dimensional, and not over the top tweaked withnot something i'd put on to really pay attention to, but for this purpose, solid.

yeah i dled the album kiljadn mentioned last night, sounds up my alley.except i forgot to sync my ipod before going to work
2/22/2011 8:44:30 AM
not feeling the new lykke li
2/22/2011 3:12:20 PM
Got the Jessica Lea Mayfield today. Maybe it's just the first run-through, but it sounds very generic and only one or two tracks even stood out a little. The production is pretty sterile; not overproduced, but very glossy.
2/22/2011 6:06:03 PM
Really, really like the new TV on the Radio single, "Will Do." It's probably more ballad-y than any single they've released in the past, but it definitely still has their signature sound. Dig it.

Snagged a couple dozen so far this year...my favorite by far is Destroyer's Kaputt. It makes me that it hasn't been mentioned more...Got Hardcore Will Never Die... on vinyl today and was kinda disappointed...too bass-heavy, sounds way better in my car/on my computer.Also...first post!
2/23/2011 7:37:06 PM
Shit, I got the Destroyer a while ago and haven't really listened to it. Need to get on that.

I like the Destroyer but certain parts are just a little too cheesy for me. Still good though. I just have to be in the right mood.

Pitchfork gives The King of Limbs a 7.9 --- they gush over it throughout the review, then drop that score on it, lol.The supposed hints and rumors keep coming that there's going to be a 2nd part. All sorts of cryptic tweets from Stanly Donwood and Chieftan Mews, but it's probably just wishful thinking.
2/24/2011 2:06:45 AM
^ that's pretty typical of them to praise the hell out of something for 75% of a review and then give it a number grade that isn't reflective of what you just read.
2/24/2011 7:53:02 AM
Haven't listened to it myself yet but Spinner has a new Rival Schools song streaming.http://www.spinner.com/2011/02/22/rival-schools-wring-it-out-pedals/
2/24/2011 12:18:06 PM
7.9 seems pretty reasonable to me. I don't think it's any better than that.
2/24/2011 1:25:42 PM
^I don't know how anyone can say it deserves less than an 8.1. Come on!
2/24/2011 1:47:11 PM
i gave it a 3.7 on my vlog
2/24/2011 3:20:59 PM
I'm kind of surprised at all the James Blake, Burial, and general "dubstep" comparisons people are making to this album. I mean sure some general similarities will arise in this style of music but it just seems like the cool thing to do in these reviews right now for the album and I really don't see it except in the most obvious places like Feral and a few specific moments.
2/24/2011 4:19:40 PM
2/24/2011 4:29:01 PM
yeah those comparisons seem pretty lazy to me ^^[Edited on February 24, 2011 at 4:31 PM. Reason : ]
2/24/2011 4:31:15 PM
In certain places, it kind of reminds me of the quieter moments of Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma. It's no secret that Thom is a big FlyLo fan, though. But, overall, it's pretty uniquely Radiohead. I think people are pulling out the James Blake comparisons just because both records are fairly calm and vaguely electronic. On a side note, if I'm James Blake, I'm pretty pumped about seeing my name mentioned in the same breath as Radiohead at 21 years old.[Edited on February 24, 2011 at 5:37 PM. I just heard Cults in the commercials on Jersey Shore.I feel sick.
2/24/2011 11:43:00 PM
didn't they sign to a major label? wouldn't be surprising if so
2/24/2011 11:46:06 PM
the newest podcast of the Tobolowsky Files has a great roundabout story of the origin of the name Radiohead if anyone cares. Episode 44 - The Voice From Another Room

List of stupid names in an EMI conference room +amirite
2/25/2011 12:19:57 PM
well, yeah, i guess i should have said a roundabout story of how David Byrne came up with the song Radio Head that in turn lead to the current band changing its name to Radiohead.basically Stephen Tobolowsky is the Radio Head
2/25/2011 1:12:07 PM
can't get enough of the new parts & labor.
2/27/2011 3:06:44 PM

30 seconds in and I already don't like this newest Strokes song[Edited on March 1, 2011 at 2:33 PM. Reason : and now that I've heard the whole thing, all I can say is wow, and not a good wow]
3/1/2011 2:31:02 PM
Tried to listen to Cold Cave, couldn't do it.
3/1/2011 4:55:11 PM
Cold Cave needs to be listened to LOUD (just like every Cure record, oddly enough).
