Don't know if this counts but I stumbled across it earlier today and thought of this thread.

No, but I can teach you how to not be a douche. Step one is to stay the fuck out of threads you clearly aren't interested in.

I'll be happy to. I'll be happy to tell them I listen to shit you like too. I'll be happy to share death/black metal, big band, classical, and trip hop with them. I'll be happy if they like music.

Anyone hear of this progressive genre called Moombahton? It sounds like a mix of electro and reggaeton. Apparently Skrillex is getting involved in it.

Not sure why anyone would care who they pissed off in this thread...

Quote :
"“I think the dubstep that has come over to the US, and certain producers-- who I can't even be bothered naming-- have definitely hit upon a sort of frat-boy market where there's this macho-ism being reflected in the sounds and the way the music makes you feel. And to me, that is a million miles away from where dubstep started. It's a million miles away from the ethos of it. It's been influenced so much by electro and rave, into who can make the dirtiest, filthiest bass sound, almost like a pissing competition, and that's not really necessary. And I just think that largely that is not going to appeal to women. I find that whole side of things to be pretty frustrating, because that is a direct misrepresentation of the sound as far as I'm concerned.”"

Mr Scrumples sure goes out of his way a lot to talk shit about a genre of music he clearly doesn't like.

^^^^that's actually commenting on "brostep" rather than more traditional dubstep

Blake's pretty much just hating on skrillex directly in that quote though.

Obviously you and your buddies enjoy getting a rise out of people with "inferior" musical tastes--I just can't figure out why that is. You constantly claim people who like dubstep are douchebag "bros", but here you are, without provocation, popping your head in and trying to make everyone feel stupid for enjoying a genre of music. That's a pretty awful thing to do.

Out of my way? Wouldn't exactly call my inability to not 'bite the worm' here "going out of my way." You do understand people listening to this shit and making threads about it on the Internet is like the biggest troll ever, right?

To the question by Mr Scrumples, you'll need to get some software for composing audio, and it's not as easy as you might think; for live DJ sets, you'll need some different software, and it's very hard to simulate the antics of the vinyl ninjas.

Skrillex hit up Denver on Halloween.

Also Project Aspect, Slim Thugz, GriZ, Mikey Thunder, RumbleJunkie, Coult45, Dodger, Ginger Perry, Subsynthesis all had a free concert at Cervantes in Denver on Halloween that was awesome... like 1 mile from my house.

My favorite right now - Pretty Lights (from Fort Collins, CO)

Check out GoingQuantum's youtube channel for a bunch of good mixes with guests mixes.

http://www.youtube.com/user/goingquantum#p/u/8/rthG-8lk7WU

Some of them start with electro and then switch to dubstep with the guest mix but I like electro so that works well for me.

I have never really listened to dubstep before, but I have accidentally stumbled on it. I really like In Flames, and when I got the new album, I noticed they collaborated with Pendulum. I checked out that song and fucking love it. I have checked a few of the other Pendulum songs out and they are quite different, but as a rock/metal guy, I really do like this combo metal/dubstep mix. Anything else like it?

If you like Pendulum, check out their essential mix from last year:
http://core.thomaslaupstad.com/bbc-radio-1-essential-mix-2010-07-17-pendulum/

Though they've experimented some with dubstep recently, they've been a drum and bass group for most of their almost 10 years together.
