I do and as long as you keep traditional rivals together its fine. You don't need to make unwritten rules for mileage between two schools in the same conference. Its not like us playing a BC or a Miami is more relevant than playing any other team in the country. Its not like we share something with teams just because they are in a state that borders the atlantic ocean.

LOL did no one click that link?WHO WOULD JAYBEE MAKE FUN OF IF STATE JOINED THE SEC?[Edited on August 12, 2011 at 10:34 PM. Reason : i'd sign off on this the instant it was offered, just for the record.]
8/12/2011 10:33:52 PM
I, too, would enjoy seeing us play SEC teams every weak instead of Wake Forest, Virginia, etc.
8/12/2011 11:04:36 PM
o, to be relevant in basketball again.
8/12/2011 11:05:35 PM
8/13/2011 12:04:43 AM
really don't think the SEC wants us, but if we did, a 4-4 conference record would be good for us under our likely East Division setup in that map
8/13/2011 12:22:17 AM
but god just imagine how thoroughly we'd roll UNC in 15 years.but yeah we'd be an easy win in that conference for a long time.[Edited on August 13, 2011 at 12:29 AM. Reason : .]
8/13/2011 12:27:19 AM
UK and Vandy we could beat. In a good year we could beat USC and VT. Florida and Georgia would be difficult all the time, and then whatever West Division team you'd play.Phew, that West Division there...BRUTAL!
8/13/2011 12:31:19 AM
the money from football goes to support the other teams, that's how athletics departments work.and we just had a "good year" and lost to VT. had we beat VT, it would have been a great year. so no, we can't beat VT on any good year.[Edited on August 13, 2011 at 1:11 AM. Reason : .]
8/13/2011 1:11:13 AM
^If we had a good year and VT had a bad year. Also Florida is not very good at this point. We would've beat them last year.
8/13/2011 8:34:15 AM
We also should have beaten VT if we hadn't imploded the second half.
8/13/2011 9:22:45 AM
FSU can GTFO for all i carei'm tired of dealing with their mascot
8/13/2011 10:08:15 AM
8/13/2011 10:12:26 AM
I like Joe Giglio's ideas.
8/13/2011 10:13:04 AM
i'll admit, that's pretty bad... problem is, i had to base it on what fsu was feeding me information-wise, and that's what they were peddling at that point in timethe current chief is much less stereotypical but it still creates headaches, regardless of who's approving what[Edited on August 13, 2011 at 10:16 AM. i'll take kentucky for clemson cats for cats
8/13/2011 10:37:24 AM
I think State would be a good fit for the SEC. State would be a middle of the pack football program and potentially a upper level basketball program. As long as the traditionalists could give up the ghost of being a rival with UNC and Duke (in basketball). I, for one, would welcome State into the SEC East along with FSU. Kentucky would fit right in with UNC and Duke. Arrogant asshole fanbase that thinks that being good at basketball gives you shit talking right in fottball even though their team is irrelevant. The ACC could take Kensucky with my blessing. [Edited on August 13, 2011 at 10:52 AM. Reason : ]

so sporting news throws NCSU into the mix w/ their front pagehttp://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2011-08-12/super-sizing-mass-expansion-of-top-conferences-on-horizon
8/13/2011 10:59:28 AM
lol
8/13/2011 11:02:13 AM
but it doesnt look like our jigsaw piece fits, physically
8/13/2011 11:02:55 AM
Our stadium isn't big enough for the SEC.
8/13/2011 11:07:55 AM
it's all good, i planned for this months ago
8/13/2011 11:10:06 AM
SEC wouldn't touch Louisville with a ten foot poll. That peice is out. VT fits athetically, bit brings nothing to the table television dealwise. I'd prefer NCSU to Mizzuo any day.
8/13/2011 11:19:51 AM
and the pieces begin to fall....
8/13/2011 11:24:33 AM
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us go to the SEC. We would be free from UNC shittalking forever and could just treat them like ECU and say "psh...We're in the SEC SEC SEC SEC...."
8/13/2011 12:18:41 PM
...we would get murdered in football in the SEC...
8/13/2011 12:19:41 PM
8/13/2011 12:31:45 PM
That's like saying BC brings the Boston Market or GT brings the Atlanta market. That just ins't true. Georgia dominates the Atlanta market and nobody in Boston gives a fuck about BC. The same can be said for DC and VT.
8/13/2011 12:37:38 PM
I agree about GT and most definitely BC, but I think you underestimate VT's draw in the DC area
8/13/2011 12:40:56 PM
its crazy to me that they are saying 4 teams might be added now, not just two. I dont see NC State being one. There is way too much perceived history/rivalry with the ACC for that.I see A&M, FSU, Clemson, and then someone else.... Missouri I guess.
8/13/2011 12:48:56 PM
people talk too much about "tv markets". VT brings its fanbase, that's it. it doesn't mean that everyone in DC will start watching SEC football.
8/13/2011 12:49:38 PM
yeah, everyone watches the SEC anyways already
8/13/2011 12:51:46 PM
If the ACC goes back to a 10 team league because someone stole FSU and Clemson, Swofford should be fired on the spot. A 10 team ACC that includes BC, Miami, and VT? That would suck. Our ability to attract two new high-profile schools wouldn't be that good right now, as our TV deal isn't that great and the ACC doesn't have the cache it did 8 years ago.
8/13/2011 12:53:06 PM
8/13/2011 12:55:45 PM
im all-in for leavinghistory isn't going anywhere and being in a different conference hasn't prevented 2 teams from scheduling one another (talking about unc of course)begs me to wonder though, if NCSU left for the SEC, do you think UNC would avoid scheduling NCSU the way NCSU wants to avoid scheduling ECU?I realize that SEC is miles ahead of the CUSA, just thinking about it on a mutual (or lack of) respect level
8/13/2011 12:56:52 PM
the tv markets the schools play in is not driving that money though...
8/13/2011 12:57:17 PM
^^^ yes, but it's not the NFL. like people have already said, people in atlanta don't watch georgia tech and people in boston don't watch boston college.
8/13/2011 12:57:27 PM

8/13/2011 1:01:17 PM
BTW, if there is expansion for the SEC it will almost definately be set for 2013 not 2012. NO ACC team can leave without official notification to the league office by Aug 15th and tha's not happening no matter what.
8/13/2011 1:02:05 PM
Any team can leave whenever they want to. It'll just cost more.
8/13/2011 1:02:55 PM
I would love to see State join the SEC, but I think our perception as being connected with the Big 4 might hurt us. I think State could bring a lot to the table in terms of tv markets and potential, but it looks like NC State is further down the list than some other schools that would jump at joining the SEC...
8/13/2011 1:05:49 PM
8/13/2011 1:05:56 PM
^what do you mean by end of everything?
8/13/2011 1:07:30 PM
Except pretend he's saying 'everything'
8/13/2011 1:08:21 PM
^How would basketball not improve?
8/13/2011 1:11:14 PM
yes, let's not get too far along so that people think we actually think we're going to the SEC.
8/13/2011 1:11:35 PM
These are national TV deals the SEC is negotiating, not local Raycom deals. It really doesn't matter if VT's fans are in DC, Tulsa, or Seattle - it just matters that they DO have lots of fans somewhere. Alabama, Texas, and Florida are huge football programs that draw a lot of money and TV viewership, and that has nothing to do with where they're located - it has to do with the fact they're prominent programs that have good teams and millions of fans. What's going to draw the most money is adding good programs that will produce good games on teh field. I think the debacle of our expansion has shown that chasing TV markets is not a formula for getting bigger TV deals.
8/13/2011 1:11:58 PM
but I think that has more to do with BC, and the fact that we already had a Virginia and Florida market with FSU and UVA/UMD before adding MIA and VTthe SEC would be completely adding a new market, a market where people do care about college football, unlike Boston
