For reals. It was perfect. Looks like it might be raining tonight, though.

I have so many bruises from Fucked Up. owieow.^were you standing against the wall to the right of the stage by the stairs for Harlem?[Edited on September 11, 2010 at 2:46 PM. Reason : .]
9/11/2010 2:46:15 PM
I was standing on the stage for Harlem, at the corner by the hall way. That was a shitload of fun.
9/11/2010 2:55:02 PM
I was to the left of the stairs.I kept hitting the bottom of my ankle on the bottom stair while dancing/jumping.hurts so much right now.
9/11/2010 3:01:06 PM
^^^ Yes, perched atop a pile of amps and guitar cases.
9/11/2010 4:59:44 PM
i wish i hadn't gone early to kings for atlas sound. like others have said, the two bands before him were migraine-inducing, and cox's performance was too drowsy to make up for it.tonight though, DANCE PARTY!! gonna see the golden filter and washed out for sure. haven't decided who else yet.
9/11/2010 6:13:06 PM
Deakin was the highlight of the weekend and it was the first show. best energy, best sound. he had to bump my wife so she'd get out of the way so he could get up on stage. then the female keyboardist was makin googly eyes at my wife. i was ok with all of this of course.
9/11/2010 6:45:18 PM
deakin was soooooooo bad.
9/11/2010 6:47:09 PM
different strokesi like the drone and being a foot away from the speaker was the best place for thatalso i saw some guys eyes roll into the back of his head and a guy fingering the speaker on the other side soo...we all enjoy it in our own ways
9/11/2010 6:59:23 PM
I sure am glad I didn't pay the extra amount for VIP. I haven't needed it at all.
9/11/2010 11:01:14 PM
after seeing noah lennox who was also bad, i cant believe they are in the same band. noah was exppnentially better.
9/11/2010 11:19:41 PM
TRIP REPORTBroken Social Scene, Harlem, Sharon Van Etten/Midtown Dickens/Lost in the Trees today were awesomeAtlas Sound and Best Coast were pretty goodPanda Bear and Ben Frost were the two worst shows I've ever seen (not counting that first guy at Kings last night who did a 10 minute sustained drumroll before I couldn't take anymore and left)[Edited on September 12, 2010 at 1:49 AM. any artist that holds a semi coherent rhythm will allways lose the 'worst band i have ever seen' championship to this incoherent shoegaze art rock shit ass 'supergroup' i saw in miami. a few weeks ago.
9/12/2010 2:06:06 AM
Saturday was pretty subpar for me compared to friday and thursday. sorry i am on my phone, edit post is not very effective. god public enemy was bad.
9/12/2010 2:09:15 AM
pretty much everyone i saw tonight was good if not great: bright young things, exmonkeys, tigercity, golden filter, washed out. washed out was a great way to end hopscotch, just super chill.
9/12/2010 2:18:13 AM
^^^Yeah Panda Bear and Ben Frost failed to do that
9/12/2010 2:25:47 AM
Woods just snuck into my top 5 live performances ever. Fucking amazing
9/12/2010 2:29:25 AM
lolwuti guess i shouldn't have sat on the stairs in the hall during woods.the lack of dancing around me during dungen was kind of discouraging for later.
9/12/2010 3:55:52 AM
tonight was definitely the biggest bust/least eventful for me but the last few Megafaun songs made up for it. great weekend. fully expect to feel like death tomorrow.

Yeah, so that was fun. When are they posting the 2011 lineup? WHAT'S THE HOLDUP, ASSHOLES?!?
9/12/2010 9:50:17 AM
my favorite of the entire weekend was Future Islands on Thursday at Berkeleyhonorable mention goes to Juan Huevos (great vids on the projector) and Public Enemy (awkward speech by Flava Flav was amazing and uncomfortable)worst of the weekend was Raekwon and it wasn't even close

i'm not saying you did this, but people that skipped shit they wanted to see because usually they avoid a particular venue doesn't make much sense in the context of this festivali actually loved going places i never go because it was a chance to go there see good shit instead of the lame shit those places usually bookkooley high performing in front of 1,000 cheesy rock quotes on the walls was a juxtaposition that i enjoyed and i could tell it was a nice break from the norm for a couple bartenders
9/12/2010 12:13:30 PM
yeah i can't imagine not having the VIP pass. i skipped a few big lines, and free food & beer (not to mention bottled water/vitamin water) from 12-5 every day. not to mention that pre-party was great and had a free open bar
9/12/2010 12:19:26 PM
yeah i am absolutely getting the VIP passes next year
9/12/2010 12:31:02 PM
its hard to pick my favorite shows. really loved war on drugs, megafaun (day and night), picture plane, javelin, love language, bsswas disappointed by washed out. maybe he got better (we left early) but it was SOOOOOOO not loud enough. when he opened for beach house he was much more fun. sad i didn't see more of golden filter. they sounded good when we got there, but only got to catch the tail end due to bear in heaven which i wasn't super impressed by. there are a bunch of things i'm sad i missed though (active child and woods mostly. really disappointed about this but there were other things i wanted to see at the same time), but oh well. no way to do it all. and i am DEFINITELY glad i went VIP. $35 price difference, free food, lounge, and skipping lines. maybe some people didn't have a problem with lines (dunno what shows they were at, or if they bounced around) but i got to skip some ridic lines and heard some friends w/o VIP end up very disappointed they couldn't get in certain places. maybe if you just post up at one venue all night, you're fine. i could see if it was like a $100 price difference, but $35 was TOTALLY worth it (i mean i drank/ate my $35 worth easily)[Edited on September 12, 2010 at 12:54 PM. 9/12/2010 1:36:31 PM
So explain this free beer situation. How much are we talking? And can someone post a partial or full setlist from megafaun saturday night?
9/12/2010 2:53:23 PM
^ 12-5, Thurs/Friday/Saturday, you could go chill in this room, sit in these big cushion thingies in the Lenovo Lounge and they would bring you free Newcastles. From 4 to 6, they gave you free food. The opening night VIP party on Thursday was free vodka, Newcastle and Jack Daniels from 6 pm to 9 pm. All of that drinking + the swag bag + being able to jump to the front of the lines >>>>>> the $35 difference. It wasn't even close.
9/12/2010 3:08:39 PM
they had a Newcastle keg just sitting in the lounge all day
9/12/2010 3:08:55 PM
9/12/2010 3:10:45 PM
What was in the swag bag? And what was flava flav's speech about?
9/12/2010 3:19:18 PM
^condoms and lube.
9/12/2010 3:23:24 PM
speech was about 9/11 and the military and racism and separatism and peacebasically just reminisced about how terrible that day was in 2001and thanked the militaryand said fuck racism, fuck separatismand pleaded with the people of raleigh to be united across races and creeds for the sake of world peace his heart was in the right place but it was painfully awkward
9/12/2010 3:31:55 PM
Who has a setlist for Panda Bear's show?
9/12/2010 5:14:20 PM
don't know the order but he played Comfy in Nautica, Ponytail, Daily Routine, Tomboy, Slow Motion, and the rest were all new songs that probably don't even have names
9/12/2010 6:21:50 PM
The song I was looking for is called Song for Ariel. That one, I dig.PS - have no idea how to obtain said song, bc it's not on any albums of his, and not slated for Tomboy.... Fuck.[Edited on September 12, 2010 at 11:08 PM. Reason : d]

9/12/2010 10:58:44 PM
worth the drive down from ohio.and though i've seen them many many times, i agree with someone further up in saying that the megafaun set saturday night was the biggest highlight.i also really enjoyed harlem, sharon van etten, best coast and public enemy.
9/12/2010 11:13:07 PM
when Megafaun came into the crowd at the end of their set, they came right next to us, it was awesomeand I drunkenly tried to convince myself that Steve Nash was on stage with them for a couple of songs
9/12/2010 11:29:58 PM
yeah i was right next to phil during that part
9/12/2010 11:57:29 PM
gunzz was right next to them as well
9/13/2010 12:13:31 AM

9/13/2010 12:25:35 AM
9/13/2010 12:36:28 AM
^^The first five minutes of the improv set were lolwe left to go catch some of the state game and see some two-drummer metal bands at berkeley.
9/13/2010 1:01:21 AM
Steve Nash is Django from Old Ceremony and yes they do look exactly alikebtw Mr Scrumples "Song for Ariel" does appear in album form as "Guy's Eyes" on MPP. They don't use the Zombies sample in that version though
