Wave Like Home. I like Old Friend a lot off that album. The rest just kinda runs together. And not to be upsetting, but thinking this new album would receive a BNM rating is a little ambitious. I love these guys and would rarely miss an opportunity to see them, but that new album is just okay, not exceptional...
10/10/2011 12:02:14 PM
^ yeh, I like this album but didn't expect a bnm from pitchfork I did, however, very much expect bnm for the new Megafaun lp
10/10/2011 12:04:13 PM
I think they are referring to Little Advances, not Wave Like Home, but I could be wrongand while I wasn't expecting BNM, I was hoping for it just for the pressit's silly, but it really can help bands a lot
10/10/2011 12:37:44 PM
They didn't bother to review either, but I'm pretty sure they're talking about Wave Like Home. And I think their scores are important to a certain extent on many levels, but it's not like I don't love some albums they have panned the crap out of.

aside from one or two songs, Wave Like Home is hard to listen to for me. the production is horrible.

^^Whatever. Old Friend, Flicker and Flutter, Seize a Shark, Heart Grows Old, Beach Foam, Little Dreamer are my jams. I've heard worse production and couldn't care less about that.
11/18/2011 4:58:06 PM
The drumming is pretty bad on that record, too.
11/18/2011 5:12:49 PM
VB - any way you could submit that latest video to Mike Judge? I think Beavis and Butthead would have fun with that one.
11/20/2011 2:33:41 AM
I have tickets to the show on the 27th. First time seeing Future Islands. Looking forward to it.
11/20/2011 2:37:50 AM

Well, I guess I'll be going to this now...
11/21/2011 2:45:27 PM
That's a lot of pressure. I don't want ^ to bitch about how terrible the crowd is if I'm a part of it!
11/21/2011 9:42:11 PM

11/27/2011 6:02:47 PM
I'm sick with pharyngitis and me and my girlfriend aren't going. Didn't even get a chance to sell my ticket to someone at a cheap price.
11/27/2011 7:51:39 PM
There's a chance I won't be going either. Sigh....
11/27/2011 7:58:56 PM

11/27/2011 9:55:14 PM
Really mad I didn't go to this.
11/28/2011 1:10:23 AM
So. Fucking. Good. Not quite a sellout (though it would be at the old Cradle), but the biggest crowd FI has ever played to as a headliner. One night only "Beach Foam."So fucking proud of them.
11/28/2011 1:40:50 AM
one night only?
11/28/2011 3:45:59 AM
It was great
11/28/2011 10:41:57 AM
yeah this was amazing
11/28/2011 11:50:29 AM
^^^ That was the first appearance for "Beach Foam" on the tour, and Sam suggested that they won't be playing it again. Maybe tonight, but not past that.
11/28/2011 11:55:02 AM
Ahh, weird. It's a great song. They should play it.
11/28/2011 4:28:31 PM
they (at least what I've heard from Sam) consider themselves a different band than they were when they wrote that song and songs from that erait sucksbut it makes sense
11/28/2011 4:59:23 PM
My friend Erika made that band. And the cover art to In Evening Air.
11/28/2011 5:01:05 PM
God, that was an awesome fucking show. There were plenty of Raleigh people there, haha.[Edited on November 28, 2011 at 5:18 PM. Reason : ]
11/28/2011 5:17:52 PM
No disrespect intended if there are fans on here but...ed schrader's music beat. what the fuck.[Edited on November 28, 2011 at 6:01 PM. Reason : .]
11/28/2011 6:01:25 PM
I thought they (he) were pretty horrendous when I saw them at King's a while back, but whatever[Edited on November 28, 2011 at 6:42 PM. Reason : (ed schrader not FI)]
11/28/2011 6:42:16 PM
With Ed, you either get him or you don't. Just like some people prefer great punk rock to great soul music and vice versa, I won't suggest that those who don't get it are dumb; it's just something that only appeals to certain people. With that said, I fucking love Ed Schrader.
11/28/2011 6:53:01 PM
My favorite song was Gas Station Attendant. Really hit close to home for me.
11/28/2011 7:00:50 PM
11/28/2011 7:52:29 PM
I mean, is it just for the live experience (whatever you want to call it) or do you actually pull out "I Can't Stop Eating Sugar" and rock out sometimes?
11/28/2011 8:02:50 PM
I own and have listened to Ed Schrader records, though it's much more entertaining when you can see it.He also has a talk show that's good for a laugh.
11/28/2011 8:04:45 PM
Oh well then I'm definitely one that just doesn't get it.
11/28/2011 8:09:28 PM
He's saying it has the same appeal as paying any attention to that Monkey Time dude I think.
11/29/2011 10:22:51 AM
I THINK I'M A GHOST I THINK I'M A GHOST
11/29/2011 10:39:03 AM
All I remember about it is a dude beating on a drum the whole time with a spotlight on him, whilst screaming nonsense.
11/29/2011 10:45:57 AM
Yeah, that pretty much nails every single song. Oh except for that one song he went without any drumming or any accompanying bass. Sounded like some kind of cult shit.It came off like an elaborate troll where he's just testing to see if anybody will actually become a fan of it.
