That's what loses a lot of people, sadly. But you don't have to run. Some groups are more walker-friendly than others, though. But I didn't start for like two years because I wasn't a runner. I'm still not a runner, and I still hash all the time.

That is the best description I have heard in a long time. It is most definitely not the other way around.

I'm sure this has been answered several times, but I'm going to ask again anyway...

Where's the best place in Raleigh/Durham to get a tattoo?

Mark at Oak City. Super fast and great quality plus he likes to laugh and joke while he's working so you don't get so bored. he has done two of my three and will most likely be the only one who does anymore for me

I know lucy at pheonix is killer at black and grey

and my guy is Neil at Oak City, he has an award for his color work and junk. But seriously he is good and a nice guy, and from what I can tell the other artists in Oak City are good. Big fan.

I've heard other things about other places too.... just make sure when you go to look at their portfolio it has clear images (if they are blurry then I would pass since you cant see any detail). Find an image that requires symmetry and line work, that will tell you how good the artist is. Also, you can make sure that whatever you are trying to get falls in line with their portfolio to better ensure the success of your tattoo.

Mad Ethel's on Dawson St in Raleigh. Anton did the work and he was awesome. He was really stoked about doing a Hess piece and probably more excited about the finished work than i was. He's pretty new, but he's done work for a few friends including my wife and everyone has been really pleased with him.

I'm going back in July to finish the piece.

Also ran into Ronny while i was there. Nothing like bumping into a friend half-naked in a tattoo shop.

How long was the session?

That doesn't seem like much work for one session. Granted, artists work at different speeds and it may have been that you didn't want to go much longer. I don't know how long you were able to sit. And I also don't know how much you're paying per session/for the tattoo.

Looks good though.

It was ~5 hours, we only stopped for a 20 minute dinner break and the occasional 5 minutes for him to grab a smoke. By the time we quit it was 11:30 pm and we were already 30 minutes late to relieve the babysitter so we called it quits and made an appointment to finish up the red. I'm a fairly big guy too, so its a little bigger than it looks.

There was a lot of line and single needle work which took most of the time, plus a lot of the detail wasn't really something he could transfer in the stencil.

I don't really have much to compare too, this was my first.
He was really stoked about his new machine that he got from the shop's owner which was supposed to make line work easier and more precise.

Shit like that makes hell much more appealing.

According to people like this Heaven will be filled with people like Gary Birdson, Kim Davis and Josh Duggar while Hell will be filled to the brim with philosophers, poets, rock stars, all my friends, people who enjoy having sex and pretty much every average joe/jane that walks the earth.

It may be used that was by some, but do a google search for the image and it pops up on plenty of Christian Facebook groups, sites and message boards.

pointy knees, would not bwn

I really like that one. Did you design it or pick it out somewhere? I'd like to get another tattoo but can't figure out exactly what I want and where I want it. Something somewhat metal themed.

Thought about some hybrid of my fraternity's old brother badge and metal. Below is a drawing of the tattoo one of the brothers got based on the badge that I really like.

Do you currently have any? I can't remember.

And this was custom. I do have a couple traditional pieces by this guy in Dallas I love. They're not walk-ins out of a book - still booked in advance with a deposit etc, but they are his take on traditional tattoos versus something totally custom.

Mostly I follow a ton of custom tattoo artists and tattoo accounts on instagram and kind of figure out who I want to work with and then wait for their books to open. Then do a consult and go through sketching etc. (usually remotely since I travel for some of these). I try and make mini vacations out of some of these when I'm flying out of town for something. Makes it more interesting and has some cool memories attached with them.

That's awesome. The brother who got that^^ tattoo took that drawing to Ireland and got it done there.

Yeah, I have one. Just my fraternity letters (Like on ^^skulls head) on my back. If the letters weren't so big, I would just have an artist do the skull around it but I think it would end up taking up the top half of my back lol

Also thought of getting our open motto/bible verse on my rib cage: "Whatsoever thy had findeth to do, do it with thy might. Ecc 9:10" Would probably look good on the forearm but still not brave enough to rock it at work.

Edit: found a pic. I'm in the middle
