^ Agreed. I wish AT&T would do an international map commercial like Verizons. Where Verizon has coverage NO WHERE.

double post 5 minutes later?i was not in charge of the switch, i just do what i'm told, which was setting up the account. i LOVE my iphone, as long as i'm not trying to do heavy internet stuff w/o wifi.[Edited on January 27, 2010 at 3:27 PM. Reason : ]

Exactly. The majority of people don't have issues with AT&Ts service because the majority of Americans live in AT&Ts coverage area and not int he middle of no where.

SO underwhelming

I see the iPad as a step in the right direction from a hardware design point of view. Its slick, has tons of potential down the road. When the iPhone came out it was seriously lacking. As the years went on more and more desired features were added. I think the same can be said for the iPad.The software on the other hand is a different story. Also, why has nobody asked this yet....CAN IT COPY PASTE!??!?
1/27/2010 3:29:09 PM
the iphone was a really good phone when it first came out. Whatever it was lacking, it was still better in alot of ways than what was already out.The ipad is the same as the macbook air in that it doesnt do anything new or even fill an empty market segment. Its a one off device that they know will sell based on the brand, even if those people already have devices that fill the role.

how can there be a wifi sms app....it's not linked to a phone numberand the problem with google voice html5 app is the entire lack of notification

I went skiing at snowshoe...the only provider there was AT&T. I thought middle of no where was Verizons leg up?
1/27/2010 3:35:25 PM
^that's funny because i ski every weekend in Colorado and Verizon is the only carrier that has reliable coverage on all the mountains.

The lack of flash is just embarrassing at this point. See: Jobs getting a missing plugin error during his keynote. It's (barely) excusable on a phone, but for something that is meant to compete with netbooks? Just sad.[Edited on January 27, 2010 at 3:40 PM. Reason : f]

was unrealistically dreaming for an OLED screen, but I'll definitely take IPS

Yeah guys because 1-way SMS is *awesome*
1/27/2010 3:41:22 PM
No flash for browser, FM radio, multitasking, and AT&T for carrier is way I will NEVER own a iPhone or iAnything.
1/27/2010 3:41:23 PM
1/27/2010 3:42:13 PM
No multitasking is the big killer here. I'm sure they do that to maintain snappy speed across the apps but come on.

i feel like they should have really uncoupled the device from focusing so much on backwards compatibility.I know that is convenient and money-making and whatnot but I think a iPad only store with apps (like iWork) etc would have been a better focus.
1/27/2010 3:54:19 PM
wow - what a big whiff on this. i was holding out on getting a netbook because i thought this might be the next great thing. but i honestly don't see why i would ever want one of these. it just seems....crippled

no flash and no multitasking seems like the biggest mistakes.. so no Netflix instant watch or Hulu?i really just don't see why anyone with an iPhone (or any smart phone) and/or a laptop would need this
1/27/2010 4:08:06 PM
Netflix instant can run on Silverlight. Now, that's not to say that the iPad includes Silverlight. I doubt it does, but Netflix doesn't need flash.
1/27/2010 4:17:02 PM
seriously, buy a macbook for $750, tether it to your verizon smartphone = profit.granted you wouldn't get touchscreen or accelerometer, but personally i'd rather have 2 devices than 3 and avoid another $30/month for dataalso did they cover how the ebooks are handled? DRM? can you transfer an ebook purchased on iTunes to any other devices?are the iPhone apps/games really worth even installing on this device?
1/27/2010 4:20:31 PM
Did they mention if you can share your current iPhone/iPod Touch apps with your iPad?
1/27/2010 4:41:07 PM
1/27/2010 4:41:49 PM
^^yes you can, they said you can download all your apps you've already purchased.^that doesn't really tell me what you'll be using it for. I mean the purpose of a netbook by definition is something light weight, ultra portable that can do basic computer functions and mostly web applications.I think too many people expect/assume that a netbook is supposed to be just like a standard laptop but ultra portable. Everybody was just expecting Apple to announce a laptop that had a touch screen and was ultra portable.[Edited on January 27, 2010 at 4:47 PM. Reason : .]

^^^Wow guy, you haven't just been drinking the kool-aid you've been showering in it haven't you?
