it's cute - i paid like $50 for mine, it's not that great, but only $50 bucks. so if it doesn't work, it's not the end of the world... and maybe i'll learn more what i like from it
12/9/2009 7:37:48 PM
I'd save your money for something nicer. What's the story with it? Is it used? Any info on the materials?
12/9/2009 7:41:19 PM
Just ebay... ebay has alot of cheapo corsets, probly made in china. I have other cheap ones, they work fine. It's not like I wear them often enough to wear them out.

welp - got mine in the mail - unfortunately i'm half retarded and ordered too big of a size i'm gonna see if i can exchange it - if not - lesson learned!

how much would a good beginner corset be?
12/10/2009 7:39:29 PM
A good beginner corset is a matter of reduction, not price. 2-4" is a good place to start. For plain corsets I'd spend $200 for an underbust; $350 for an overbust. You can get them cheaper from people who aren't very experienced and will charge less for their time. Materials run between $50 and $100 depending on what you're working with and it takes 15 hours to make a basic corset from scratch. When I started making corsets I'd do them as gifts or just charge for materials, but if I sold stuff today it'd be $250-$450.
12/10/2009 8:12:41 PM
I would buy one from you if you charged that too.
12/10/2009 8:15:05 PM
You'd get the ILL discount babe :*
12/10/2009 8:16:53 PM
what do you mean its not a matter of price but reduction? I don't have $250+ to drop on anything other then bills so it really is a matter of price
12/10/2009 8:21:34 PM
A beginning corset is a corset you start with. You can drop $250 on something that reduces you 2" or 10" but if this is your first corset I'd go with 2" and work your way down to smaller sizes. Trying to cinch 10" off without waist training is going to put a tremendous strain on your investment and won't feel very good.
12/10/2009 8:24:02 PM
ahhhhh. Ive never really thought about it in terms of how small it would make me look and ive never thought of owning a corset in terms of how many inches I would want to take off. Im more interested in the design of it. Not sure if that makes any sense. It sounds sort of silly
12/10/2009 8:26:23 PM
you want a fasion corset, not a function corset.
12/10/2009 8:29:26 PM
http://community.livejournal.com/corset_shoppe/This community links to eBay auctions and Etsy shops. The corsetiers come in a variety of skill levels and some corset owners are selling lightly used items so you can probably find some affordable deals. This isn't regulated heavily though so search for criticism of a seller before you buy.
12/10/2009 8:30:43 PM
how do you make the bow in the middle? I want to do that.also, am i too big for an under bust corset?]
12/10/2009 8:39:27 PM
http://www.waspcreations.com/howtol.htm^ I use that method to lace mine. Get the laces in place really loose, pull it on, close the busk, and pull the "rabbit ears" and tie them in a knot to cinch and secure it. The image above may have been done with two lengths of satin ribbon that use a similar method but the knots have loose ends to make the bow.Amna, you could totally rock an underbust. /me believes tww's ladies need corsets and should post yourself in them. then there can be a sort of corset contest. I'm not sure if there is a guy equiv to corsets (fashion wise, not constricting midsection wise)
12/14/2009 10:30:14 AM
^Fashion wise, as in underwearish type item that gets a panting response when seen?Tight white undershirts, ala Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski. At least, that's the male equivalent of a corset for me.
12/14/2009 10:47:38 AM
yeah, but a corset can still be worn in public uncovered. I'm thinking like a article of clothing that can be worn that is classic, sensual and eye catching.most i could compare with is probably a nice wifebeater. we don't have too much variety in our ranks :p
12/14/2009 10:53:08 AM
just because it's already floating around in another thread.
12/14/2009 10:53:52 AM
i have a leather corset with the same problem as that, the cups are a little too big i just stuff it a little but i wish i could alter it some.
12/14/2009 10:56:38 AM
I <3 shadowi'm glad she made an appearance in this thread. such the cutie.
12/14/2009 11:02:00 AM
I fill out the cups all right I just wasn't laced up very tight in that pic.
12/14/2009 11:02:45 AM
Dat Corset
12/14/2009 11:16:22 AM
maybe if mine had lacing between the cups it would work better...
12/14/2009 11:18:26 AM
Men wear corsets too. The main difference is that they all tend to be underbusts and don't have any of that pointiness at the bottom so things don't get dangerous when you sit down.Cups not fitting right is reason #2873598 to get a custom corset.
12/14/2009 9:25:03 PM
^ fyi, you now have me rethinking the whole corset thing. The fit, purpose, my desire to have one...also.... Joie has such an incredible body
12/14/2009 9:50:29 PM
^ inorite. motivates me though i think i'm going to do a corset fund. change and what not and save up for a custom made one
