First time all season I thought The Office was the best funniest of the Thursday shows.

I echo the sentiment that I could care less about Andy/Erin. In fact, I turned it to the Magic/Cavs game for a bit when they were on together. It's not that I don't like them, I just don't care about a character that has been on like 20+ episodes and I know nothing about except that she is an idiot and acts 12.

Really, all I want to see is some more Dwight pranks damn it. Though the scene with Ryan trying to act tough and not being able to crush the can made me LOL a lot.

Missed last night again. Consensus?

I caught last Thursday's episode the other day. I don't get how people are saying that it was better than season 5. Season 5 wasn't that great but season 6 definitely hasn't done anything to prove it's any better. I guess they've shifted out of my demographic.

consensus is that last nights was one of, if not the best, of the season (save for maybe the wedding episode). And to me, it felt almost like it was harkening back to the early seasons, with all of the action focused inside the office

Agreed. I feel like Ryan is an underused character. Walking in on the guy at the daycare was great too.

The show always seems to work best when it is in the original dynamic, Michael as boss, Jim and Dwight across from each other in Sales, Toby in HR, Ryan as the Temp.

The formula seems to be to move those parts around in some way to allow for either a new character to come in for a short time, or to move those characters to a new situation, but in the end everyone always ends up back in those positions and that is when the show is at its best. Wouldn't be surprised if Pam at some point leaves to have the baby and ends up back as the receptionist. The hardest I laughed this season might have been at the end of the episode when Jim put Dwight's tie in the coffee.

He looked so happy to be able to do that again, too. Good times.

Best one of the season so far. I'm really getting sick of the Andy/Erin story though. Jim back in sales was a baller decision.

Is the show ending this season? From the plot lines and throwback jokes, it seems that way.

Everyone, sans Carell (who will get a raise and sign on through it), is signed on through Season 8 and it's still the best rated NBC comedy out there... in other words, it's going two more seasons minimum. Hopefully it doesn't go the route of Scrubs.

^^ the writers are still pretty good... just need to not deal with the dumbass Andy/Erin thing much longer. Fuck, I'd rather she just get wrote off the show. Not funny or interesting in the least.

I dunno... she's been on for 20 episodes or so and the only vibe I get is that she is vapid. Nice tits though... still no Jenna Fischer.

i think erin is ok, i just wish the andy/erin courtship was a more subtle plot point instead of in your face all the time (12 days of christmas and then all the valentines cards were both big things in a short time span)

The Andy/Erin "hate" just stems from the fact that they haven't advanced it at all. And, in general, Erin has proven to be a pretty boring character to me. She is pretty much just some ditzy secretary that I couldn't care less about. In fact, she is somewhat annoying at times.

Exactly. It's not that I dislike her, it's just that I'm disinterested b/c I know NOTHING about her. Everyone else on the show we know SOMETHING about at least. She just seems like an idiot and naive. If she got run over by a truck next episode I wouldn't care in the least.

Yeah, Erin is more or less a hot cardboard cutout

Anything Andy does is hilarious, though

I guess he's the only reason I'm not rounding up a posse over this story arc

I really don't even understand where people think she is hot. But back to point...if the writers want us to care about storylines involving her, they need to do something to make us care about the character. Whatever they do, it would be nice if she wasn't just someone who showed up a couple times an episode to do/say something airheadish.

I disagree with this notion that Erin is a bland and uninteresting character that we don't know much about.

We all know that bitch in real life. And she needs to get her fucking face punched in. She's such a waste of space...she'd probably just cry for a while and then talk about it for the rest of her life cause it's the most eventful thing that's ever happened to her.

But sometimes she's cool.

you guys are probably going to have to deal with the erin+andy thing for a while. from all of the buzz and scoops it sounds like they are going to turn it into a main story line post Jim/Pam baby.

Did anyone else feel like there were a lot more errors in the way this episode was shot? Or am I just looking too closely?

Michael messing Jim's hair up and then it looking almost perfect again within a 10 second span; Jim's door being shut then magically open when Michael makes his sale; and Erin switched sides of Kelly when Andy was confronted at the end.

Usually these episodes are shot really tight and don't contain these types of fuckups.

Yeah Dwight wasn't seen at all at the hospital, but his side story with the mold was great as well. Just an all around great episode. I love this damn show.

When Dwight got pulled over and started chucking weapons out the window, I lost it. That was funny as hell when he brought out that large dagger and disposed of it like a person with a bag of weed in the car. And the cop saying, "Dwight, don't make this any harder than it has to be," was just topping on the cake.

^That was a good scene. Outside of that it was a pretty blah episode... for me at least. Guess I couldn't get past the woman in labor fighting to not go to the hospital thing, which was pretty much the entire story.

I thought the water breaking and still refusing to go was odd... but then I remembered when my little brother was born my Mom's water broke and she REFUSED to go until my Dad put in the air conditioner in my house. Women in labor are irrational as fuck.

Oh, and was Erin naming Triple Crown winners? Lol, that was randomly funny as hell considering she seems like the dumbest person to ever walk the earth.

i thought the episode was odd and seemed to go to extremes to try and get laughs

but there were some good moments like pam breast feeding the wrong baby

but you can tell they are stretching and i am usually not very critical of the show

I think the show normally functions best in a 30 minute time period. A lot of the stuff with Pam at the office could've been cut down some to make it a much quicker episode and likely would've been laughs from start to finish instead of some dull moments here or there. I liked the stuff with Pam at the office though because you could tell she was scared and the office tends to balance the more emotional stuff with the funny stuff pretty well most of the time.

I think it was originally supposed to be a half hour but NBC wanted to stretch it or something?

Anyway, I'm sure they have to be running out of story lines. I mean there aren't TOO MANY shows who have 125+ episodes. I just hope we don't see much of the baby since the funniest shit is when they are all in the office together.

I'm noticing, even though it's still insanely funny to me, that HIMYM is going through a similar thing. Only they are loading up on ridiculous amounts of guest stars now instead of actually advancing the plot (fucking J-Lo next week? seriously?).

^ I remember when Friends started doing that around the 7th or 8th seasons. It was like every episode had some major star in a cameo role. (Usually unnecessary too I might add!)

Was that really the first St. Patrick's day episode they've done?

Anyway, I liked it. I think near Christmas, much like HIMYM (nice shoutout by the way), the episodes got really stale, but I've been a fan of the last three-four or so.

I loved the little mini chair at quad-desk for Dwight at the end.. I LOL'd when I saw that.

yeah, this was a good one - kind of a "back to the basics" episode: most of the action was in the office, good Jim/Dwight scenes, Michael trying to do good backfires, etc.

hmmm, what was this episode missing....? Oh yeah - Jim and Pam and baby bullshit. gee, I wonder if that has anything to do with its likability
