Picked up a bottle of Dogfish Black & Blue. May enjoy it with dinner tonight, or perhaps this weekend. no luck on KBS on my quick search around town (CLT), didn't make it down to Brawley's though, so any Charlotte guys let me know if you see it.

going to Sam's in Durham after work to pick up some Kentucky Breakfast. missed out on it last year, so hopefully they have it in stock[Edited on March 18, 2010 at 10:11 AM. Reason : :]
3/18/2010 10:10:30 AM
^they sold out on Tuesday (per their twitter account), your best bet is Whole Foods or Peace Street since they may not have gotten their allocation from the distributor until today
3/18/2010 1:09:45 PM
ugh yeah, my buddy just dropped by Sam's and confirmed that they were out. i'll give Whole Foods a call
3/18/2010 4:40:33 PM
i don't have a whole foods around here, does Trader Joe's have a comparable selection?
3/18/2010 4:43:45 PM
i'm going to drink sooo much beer with the thought of murray state's game winner!
3/18/2010 4:45:49 PM
^^ no, not at all
3/18/2010 4:46:38 PM
buzz killington, thanks for letting me not waste a trip
3/18/2010 4:57:43 PM
I'm only basing that off of the one off of Kildaire Rd. in Carywho knows what the selection is like at other locations
3/18/2010 4:59:16 PM
My Trader Joe's experience is only based off Mallard Creek, but their beer selection let me down. I found the Lindemans Lambic Framboise a friend wanted, so they have stuff some other chains don't, but their selection is smaller than say..Harris Teeter.
3/18/2010 5:17:40 PM
and this was the other nightsome of my close favoritesand
3/18/2010 6:38:49 PM
Had KBS last night... ZOMGZOMGthis news prompted Mulva to purchase the Wine Vault's entire stock
3/18/2010 6:48:31 PM
Sam Adam's Imperial White is getting me druuuuuuuuuunk
3/18/2010 8:23:17 PM
^^they had it at winevault!?preposterous!
3/18/2010 8:34:18 PM
9 blue moons and a sweetwater in 2 hoursnot braggingjust saying
3/18/2010 8:37:28 PM
do any bars around here have Kentucky Breakfast or is it only distributed to beer shops?
3/18/2010 9:35:06 PM
if anyone wants some KBS, I have some at my shop. Wine N Things in North Raleigh. PM me and I'll hold some for you.
3/19/2010 1:06:30 PM
^^I know Busy Bee got some, probably the Saucer too, you're going to pay $9 or $10 for the privilege though. On an unrelated note, Highland has a new spring seasonal out called Seven Sisters Abbey Ale:It's a 6.5% ABV Dubbel and is really tasty, definitely one of Highland's best beers as far as I'm concerned.
3/19/2010 1:17:49 PM
don't know if this beer has been discussed yet, but I found my new favorite - LoneRider Shotgun Betty
3/19/2010 1:18:04 PM
dear linda, fuck shotgun betty<3also, i hadnt heard about KBS but I LOVE founders. might have to splurge and pick some up.
3/19/2010 1:22:05 PM
dear mike, fuck YOU. <3, Lindap.s.
3/19/2010 1:24:36 PM
Shotgun Betty reminded me of a stronger Blue Moon and I didn't think it was all that great.
3/19/2010 1:25:24 PM
3/19/2010 1:30:22 PM
blue moon is more citrus-y and I could really taste the banana in shotgun betty
3/19/2010 1:31:42 PM
I had Shotgun Betty at the Raleigh Saucer and really liked it, but due to the other stuff I had that night I couldn't recall the brewery name or...well I just remembered I liked something wheat that was local. This rings bells though, thank you!
3/19/2010 3:12:36 PM
just popped open a ruination to enjoy while watching a little bball before playing kickball tonight...
3/19/2010 8:33:07 PM
^^LoneRider is the brewery that makes Shotgun Betty. Not bad.I am ready to start seeing some Dogfish Aprihop in stores! I drank the Black & Blue yesterday and it was amazing. I will definitely be splurging on a few more bottles to stick in the fridge. Completely worth the 12 bucks. On a semi related note, i just found the box with all my old pint glasses I had collected in and around while i was in college. There were only 20 or so, but it made me happy opening them up and remembering where/when they came from.
3/21/2010 3:20:32 PM
^I got some Aprihop in Raleigh the other week, this year's is really good...it seemed like they toned down the hoppiness the past couple of years but it's back to being awesome again this year. I'm probably gonna pop one of these later:either than or a KBS
3/21/2010 3:36:06 PM
^you are right about the toned down taste of Aprihop, I was on the dogfish site this past week and they always update short video clips about the various beers and they had a new one up stating just that. Toned down the fruitiness and returned the taste back to how it was a few years ago. Definitely looking forward to it.
3/21/2010 3:41:24 PM
Fox and Hound stopped carrying Magic Hat! I drank like 5 of them Thursday and the lady said yesterday they had beef with the distributor and won't be getting any moreThis ruins my summer
3/21/2010 3:43:58 PM
#9?i feel like that's all i ever see out of the Magic Hat repertoire on tap at bars down here. and magic hat makes a ton of beers
3/21/2010 3:47:38 PM
yeah number 9, of course number 9 smartass
3/21/2010 3:50:33 PM
you should take it as a cue to stop being a 15 year old girl and drink some serious beer.
3/21/2010 3:52:33 PM
I've got a gift certificate for $10 and a free growler from Aviator...I really need to go this weekend.
3/22/2010 10:03:16 PM
I think I need to go to Brawley's tomorrow
3/22/2010 10:07:16 PM
EPIC DOUBLE POSTJeepin4x4 - where'd you get the Black & Blue? I might go Brawley's as mentioned, does Total Wine have it if they don't?
3/23/2010 3:03:28 PM
I hate it when people just assume that Magic Hat is the beer when they're talking about #9.Magic Hat is the brewery dummies.
3/23/2010 3:28:12 PM
^i had the magic hat hefeweizen this weekend and me likey
3/23/2010 3:28:55 PM
^I've been jammin' on the hot with their Vinyl lager. It's delicious.
3/23/2010 3:36:53 PM
Vinyl is pretty good, definitely one of the better Magic Hat beers in a while. On an unrelated note, we should be getting the Great Lakes Brewing beers in the Triangle in the next couple of weeks (they're already out in Charlotte and Greensboro).
3/23/2010 3:40:52 PM
Wadhead1, I'm pretty confidant that Brawley's would have it but I actually got mine from TotalWine University. So i'm sure Brawley's or Total Wine right there across the street would both have it. So good!^I agree, Vinyl is pretty good. I enjoyed a 6 pack a few weeks back. In regards to Great Lakes i've had both the Dortmunder (draft) and Commodore Perry IPA(bottle). I was and still am underwhelmed with commodore perry each time I open a new bottle. I say try everything, but if you can only pick one skip this.[Edited on March 23, 2010 at 4:43 PM. Reason : add]

Has anyone ever been a member of a beer of the month club? Pros/Cons?
3/24/2010 11:06:33 AM
I just saw a new sierra nevada golden bocknow normally, i'm not a huge fan, but this looks like it might be goodI think it is called glissade or glasside or something like that- lemme look it upGlissade: http://www.sierranevada.com/beers/glissade.html[Edited on March 24, 2010 at 11:09 AM. Reason : anyone had it? 9 bucks for a 6 pack of sierra usually isn't my style...]

^^ My bf and I were members (it was a gift from his parents). We weren't impressed. Basically, if you get a dud beer, you get a LOT of that dud beer. And we would find that there would be just one great beer type in every delivery. But we'd also get some odd selections where we just scratched our heads about because 1) it would be a very common beer or 2) it would be a beer that's just BAD (like Seadog). It was always fun to get beer in the mail. But we had to give away a lot of the beer because it just wasn't really that GOOD.[Edited on March 24, 2010 at 11:09 AM. Reason : .]
3/24/2010 11:09:31 AM
Glissade is ok. I have a hard time relating it to a bock, it was much lighter. Has a good even taste. Not very hoppy, but then again bocks arent.I wasn't very special, but i enjoyed^beer in the mail sounds fun . But i can see where the duds or underwhelming brands would make it a waste. I just like the idea of the surprise. [Edited on March 24, 2010 at 11:14 AM. Reason : add]

^ Here's an example of a month that disappointed us: http://www.beermonthclub.com/newsletters/vol14no12.htmWe ended up with two Brooklyn beers that aren't necessarily their better brews (I'm partial to Brooklyn Brown and Chococolate Stout). I love Brooklyn Brewery. But it's a bit common if you're a regular microbrew drinker. So, it's fun, but it's def hit-or-miss.
3/24/2010 11:18:03 AM
---- of the month clubs are a mixed bag. Never tried a beer one.Thumbs up for steak and wineThumbs down for fruit and pickled vegetable.
3/24/2010 11:19:05 AM
3/24/2010 11:23:20 AM
^i think you would really enjoy Glissade then.
