man, I can't believe Rita is dead. And poor baby.
12/15/2009 9:22:31 PM
hooooooooooooooly shit
12/15/2009 9:27:04 PM
I think it would be possible to explain Rita's death being Trinity killing the Morgans in response to the death of his daughter. They could say that the reporter/daughter was in touch with him, so he knew about Deb and when he found out his daughter was dead, he decided to go after Deb at the police station, ran into Dexter, noticed the last name and put two and two together and, thus, added him to the list. That would at least allow the time line to be correct. The biggest problem I see is the Kyle Butler thing. Trinity's family could ID Dex as being someone that had been in their life for awhile. If they can figure out a way to explain that, I think they are cool.
12/15/2009 11:28:40 PM
^sounds plausible. Also, considering how afraid trinity's family was of him, I doubt they'll say anything at all to implicate Dexter in anything. I think they'll be happy enough to be out of that situation that they won't say anything. I seriously doubt the next season will focus much on these details.I think Quinn will figure out what Dexter is doing. Unlike Doakes, he'll actually be cool with it and like the idea of killers that escape the legal system being taken care of by Dexter.[Edited on December 15, 2009 at 11:37 PM. Reason : .]

just finished watching it, towards the end when Dex was wondering if Rita was looking at the moon at the same time i was chuckling to myself because that was straight out of Joe Dirt, then he goes home and i got all Second best season after the first
12/15/2009 11:48:38 PM
Yeah, this season kicked all sorts of ass.
12/16/2009 12:08:39 AM
just watched it tonight...ending got ruined for me though b/c someone on facebook yesterday had their status as "RIP Rita"
12/16/2009 12:08:54 AM
looking back the comment dex makes about rita looking at the same moon is kind of powerful because the moon plays a big role in dexters dark passenger in the books
12/16/2009 1:22:52 AM
the moon thing just made me think of
12/16/2009 1:32:27 AM

I was able to get season 4 on DVD over the last few days on Bit Torrent. woot!
12/16/2009 8:49:34 AM
As much as I want to rewatch some of Season Four, I think the original bathtub scene in the first episode will be too much knowing that that is exactly what happened to Rita
12/16/2009 10:18:11 AM
^i rewatched that episode yesterday. i forgot that trinity made the girl watch herself die in a little mirror. shitty.
12/16/2009 12:16:49 PM
One question I have is whether or not Dexter was disturbed or upset about Rita's death. We know that his intent was to try to leave behind his "dark passenger" and become a family man, but we also know that the relationship - at least in its inception - was just Dexter going through the motions. Was there an emotional bond there, or is Dexter still behaving like an animal, driven entirely by his instincts, his will to survive, and the necessity of "fitting in"?I'm also wondering how Dexter would go about telling the kids that their mother was murdered. A lot of these questions can't be answered until next season. I would almost have to say that the unanswered questions are the equivalent of a "season cliffhanger."
12/16/2009 12:38:55 PM
Dexter seemed to genuinely care for Rita and said as much. He talked about how disappointing her made him ashamed - one of the few emotions he felt really deeply.
12/16/2009 1:47:48 PM
12/16/2009 4:03:10 PM
hes def more 'emotional' (not in a chick or emo way) in the showand dexters reaction is what got me in the rita scene. here is this serial killer finding his wife dead and his baby son sitting in her blood. his reaction in that whole scene was emotional for me
12/16/2009 7:48:19 PM
^^I totally agree, he definitely changed over the course of the 4 seasons. Maybe seeing Rita murdered in the tub will send him in a downward spiral back to how he used to be?
12/16/2009 8:16:39 PM
just read this on perezhilton

24 has just gone downhill so much the last few seasons I cant see this being a good thing for Dexter. ^As funny as that sounds, done. the correct way, I could see Keifer making a badass addition to the show if they did it the right way and didnt gay it up.[Edited on December 17, 2009 at 1:33 AM. dexter has an alibi for where he was. he was on his way to meet rita in the keys until he got her message (which wasn't until later) and then he came back home and found her. the main concern is still going to be the Mitchell family who all know him as Kyle Butler.
12/17/2009 4:16:09 AM
^Rita's message said she left her ID at home, but she'd still be in the Keys before him because she was taking a "puddle hopper" or whatever - which is what you call those really short connecting flights. So if Dexter was on his way to the Keys, he would've gotten her message but not turned around, since he fully expected her to be there waiting for him.]
12/17/2009 9:00:01 AM
hmm, well maybe he could make it look like he went and then came back when she wasn't there and he got worried when she didn't answer her phone.
12/17/2009 9:15:56 AM
lol, phone records will show he only called her once, which was 2 mins before he found her.all this speculating is driving me bonkers
12/17/2009 9:18:40 AM
he could call several more times and then say he found her hours later than he really did. just sayin. anyway, guess we'll have to wait til next season to learn anything.
12/17/2009 9:21:06 AM
couple speculations:Angel and LaGuerda-- I'm hoping they're setting up this lovey dovey stuff so there will be some real drama going on next season... laguerda is usually such a bitch, her being nice is kinda off kilter and not her personality, so if they try to stay true to the characters, something will happen there.Dexter and Deborah-- since they're married IRL, I doubt we'll be seeing any more sex scenes with them since we didn't see any this season, which means Quinn has to stick around b/c he's the only one worth watching having sex. Or they need to intro new characters... maybe a new hot policewoman...?Next season needs more sex, but I dunno how that's gonna happen :/
12/18/2009 6:59:41 PM
LaGuerta needs to die. I don't like her character or the actress. Writers shoulda killed her ass first season like they did in the book. The show needs more Masuka.
12/18/2009 7:29:59 PM
^^ Hahaha, if you need sex, you should be watching True Blood instead of Dexter.
12/18/2009 7:56:06 PM
I just realized ^ and ^^^ aren't the same person.

1/18/2010 4:33:55 PM
Lithgow did a FANTASTIC job in his role as Trinity.

the cancer card comment by the dude from big love was a pretty shitty thing to dodexter has only gotten better as the seasons go on and it was certainly not a pity win
1/18/2010 5:39:47 PM
what did the dude say?GG on dexter winning
1/18/2010 6:26:01 PM
apparently the big love dude (dont know his name) mouthed "cancer card" to the person next to him when michael c hall was announced as the winner
1/18/2010 7:10:04 PM
Bill Paxton? I always hated that guy.... terrible actorwait, this is all we're going on? http://tv.gawker.com/5450533/what-exactly-did-bill-paxton-say-about-michael-c-halls-win eh, that's quite a stretch..... either way, I've still never liked Paxton [Edited on January 18, 2010 at 9:08 PM. eh im seeing "cancer card" there at the endanywaywtg nytimes.. from perezhiltonOf all the news publications, you'd think the New York Times would know Dexter's Michael C. Hall has been battling cancer, right?Nope! The Time's Moment blog was tweeting during the Golden Globe awards on Sunday night and made this unnecessary and completely insensitive comment about the cancer stricken actor:Is Michael C. Hall playing Bob Marley in an upcoming movie? Don't get the hat or what he is hiding under it.What a fucking moron! We assume the twat got bombarded with an overwhelming and mostly angry response from followers and later tweeted a half ass apology:So sorry that Michael C. Hall has had cancer. Thanks for clarifying why he is wearing a knitted skull cap.Idiot!

so i dont know if i will watch season 5. it sounds strange but i watched the show more for rita and dex's relationship than dex killing people. plus rita is hot. my biggest question is will dex take on their child plus astor and cody? or will the grandparents take rita's kids. seeing the emotional connection of dex to the kids and rita and the transformation of those relationships is what i like most about the show. deborah is so manly looking i just want to punch her!!!! even my wife hates her!
1/22/2010 9:39:49 AM
this show sucks. It only appeals to women and gay men.
1/25/2010 2:45:37 PM
^um troll much?
1/25/2010 2:48:02 PM
no, just tired of hearing people talk about it at work. Tried watching a couple episodes and i got very bored.carry on with your thread.
1/25/2010 2:50:09 PM
well I guess it is not for everyone, but I'm not sure how you could get bored. I very rarely find anything I enjoy watching on TV and the first season of this show just absolutely floored me. At least give it an entire season.[Edited on January 25, 2010 at 2:51 PM. Reason : ]
1/25/2010 2:51:31 PM
I don't know how you could call it boring. I guess if you just like shows featuring explosions and one liners and hate character development, I could see how you could be bored by it.
1/25/2010 4:46:16 PM
i just finished watchin all 4 seasons over the last couple weeks after hearing everyone talk about how awesome the show is and i have to say i can see where they're comin from. season 4 was one of the best seasons of a show i can recall. i am curious how trinity knew about dexter's origins enough to stage the scene with rita and harrison the way he did?
1/26/2010 2:35:22 PM
^the consensus across many forums that discuss Dexter is that Harrison being in a pool of Rita's blood was just coincidence.
1/26/2010 2:36:18 PM
at the first bathtub kill in the first episode, didnt he spread out a towel to avoid the blood spill? seems kinda sloppy for his style. i mean this one was personal so maybe he was okay with that in this instance.
