All your messages will bypass the google voice app and work as normal if you're signed out of the app/service too. fwiw.

4/25/2011 3:26:14 PM
where is my sprintegration?!?! it's the 26th
4/26/2011 12:27:42 PM
finally integrated today...feels so damn good...
5/4/2011 12:34:27 AM
Wow, I read they actually rolled it out earlier than the 26th. I got in a couple days before that. It's great except today when I forgot I had GV open on my laptop and my boss walked by. There were some pretty risque texts from earlier that I'd sent on my handset and I totally forgot they updated online. Just thinking about the off chance he may have glanced at them was a bit embarrassing.
5/4/2011 12:45:33 AM
^^How is your call quality? Do you still experience that typical "VoIP latency" when holding conversations with people? I feel as though I'm talking over people a lot more since integration. I wish there was a way to just integrate texting since I like Sprint's VVM much better and kept my cell number.Texting at work in a tabbed browser with full QWERTY keyboard is so fucking money. Though It can get a little out of hand when you start sending 80WPM to someone's cell.
5/12/2011 6:50:47 PM
i haven't noticed it much but i will be on the look out and post back...

Anyone know if they will ever get MMS? Only thing keeping me from porting.
10/20/2012 9:22:07 AM
who uses mms? dat email son
10/20/2012 12:26:20 PM
some phones send group text messages as MMS, also its great for pictures and vid clips.but the bigger issue is that you don't even know that they are trying to send it, and they don't know that you arent receiving it. that's the only reason why I even care about it.[Edited on October 20, 2012 at 1:05 PM. 10/20/2012 5:30:51 PM
oh i have no problem never using MMS, I do have a problem with people trying to send me things and not knowing that I'm not receiving it
10/20/2012 6:31:41 PM
i'm wondering if only old phones do the send-a-group-text-as-MMS thing...though my last motorola flip didn't have any trouble sending individual messages when i prepared it as a group
10/20/2012 6:35:47 PM
iOS did it
10/20/2012 6:54:38 PM
I got this thread bumped for the reasons mentioned already AND to ask why google doesn't promote this at all
10/20/2012 8:04:07 PM
To clarify:You can receive MMS messages from Sprint users, they will just come as an email and take awhile. Very recently it was only Sprint, I haven't heard anything about than changing.

I have a Google Voice questionI have 2 Google Voice numbers. One forwards to my landline, the other forwards to my cellphoneIf you call either of the Google Voice numbers and nobody answers, it goes to that particular GV number's voicemail, which is what I wantBut if you call the actual cell or landline numbers directly, the landline number goes to the landline's AT&T voicemail, which is what I want, but the cell number goes to the Google Voicemail voicemail, which I do not want. I want a call to my cell # to go to my Verizon voicemail, not my Google Voice voicemailI have looked through the settings on each account and cannot find out what to change on the cell account in order to stop missed calls to my cell from going to GV voicemail. The few things I've tried as far as deactivating GV voicemail make calls to the GV # go to my regular cell voicemail, which I don't wantI'm sure it's something easy but I can't figure it out even though it used to work correctly!
12/4/2013 2:09:18 AM
*73?
12/4/2013 8:42:42 AM
^ would be my guess. The only way to get google voice working on Verizon is to set up call forwarding and *73 should disable any forwarding that was set up.
12/4/2013 8:55:45 AM
*73 goes back to Verizon's VM, but it goes back to Verizon VM when you call the GV number tooI've also tried messing with *71, *90 and *92Cell # and GV # either both go to GV VM, or both go to Verizon VM
12/4/2013 10:58:07 AM
You can't do both afaik.
12/4/2013 11:00:07 AM
I had it working on my other GV number, on my Verizon cell, so I know it's possibleGuess I'll just fiddle around with it some more
12/4/2013 11:06:24 AM
hmm...based on a quick google search, it should be possible by just disabling call forwarding but it seems to be a bit flaky for some. Verizon's site lists two additional * codeshttp://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/17268

I'm finally fed up with having a billion different threaded conversations for each contact. Anyone figure out how to get rid of this? It may not be so bad if it weren't so fucking random. I can send someone a text weeks after the last and it'll all wind up in the same old thread. But then, on different occasions, it'll start a new thread if there's a 15 lapse in the convo.
1/16/2014 7:02:14 AM
for me they're all 500 message threads now
1/16/2014 10:24:55 AM
how'd you manage that?Just opened up the desktop interface - three threads from the same person on the first page. all from today.[Edited on January 16, 2014 at 10:24 PM. Reason : ]
1/16/2014 10:23:42 PM
it seems like mine usually stick to daily resets/new thread creation.
1/16/2014 10:27:36 PM
It just makes it much more difficult than it needs to be to creepily read old messages
1/17/2014 5:24:25 PM
do you guys just never share pictures or do group messages over text? not having mms is a dealbreaker for me.
1/17/2014 6:21:05 PM
^ I occasionally worry that I miss a few msgs because people don't know I can't receive them and I don't get notifications, but overall I dont' care
1/17/2014 10:43:59 PM
^^On the rare occation that I want to send/receive a picture message from someone that isn't on iMessage, I just use email or Facebook chat or any of the dozens of other ways out there that exist to send files to someone. It's a rare minor annoyance, but I refuse to pay for texting on principle alone at this point.I downloaded a jailbreak app for the iPhone last night called SMS on GV 7 that integrates my Google Voice messages into the stock message app. So now when someone texts my Google Voice number it comes in as a "regular" text. All texts I send out are routed through GV too. It's pretty great. ]
1/17/2014 11:15:47 PM
I did give out my real number to a few people who are always sending pic messages. I told them to never expect any sort of response and never text me anything but pics. One guy apparently didn't get the memo. I know for a fact that it says in his phone (PICS ONLY) but he still tries to talk to me via that number. I have never responded. Completely pointless to this thread.
1/18/2014 2:31:57 PM
GV kinda blowsspending $20 to port my "real" number to it was a mistake
1/19/2014 10:01:05 PM
I only my use my GV# for texting when I sell on CL lol. Thanks Google!
1/20/2014 10:44:32 AM
hahhaa, nice
1/20/2014 11:44:01 AM
^^^ What sort of issue do you have?Did you port a house line to GV?
1/20/2014 6:40:27 PM
I really wish google gave a shit about this productI don't understand why they don'tAlso, this just happened for the first time in a few years, that I can recall
7/28/2014 1:10:20 PM
you should demand your money backoh wait
7/28/2014 2:48:29 PM
^^I'm starting to think they just bought it to use the data to improve their voice search. I hope I'm wrong though
7/29/2014 1:25:53 PM
GV blows and i wish i hadn't ported my "real" phone number to them when i switched from verizon to straight talk...but i did and i'm not gonna port it out and lose my $20
7/29/2014 3:52:06 PM
can you port out from GV? For some reason I thought you weren't able to.
7/29/2014 4:12:56 PM
^ It's like $3 - unless you ported a number in...then it's free
7/29/2014 5:02:08 PM
Oh, cool. Peace out Google.
