whoa
8/7/2009 4:21:21 AM
^^ Well, Setanta usually had the shitty games to begin withso ESPN is just picking up what's availableUnited games are the holy grail, networks will pay top dollar for them
8/7/2009 7:47:02 AM
hell yeah, that is sweetLOL Lucas wants out of Liverpool.... any amount of a transfer fee for him is a STEAL
8/7/2009 8:27:09 AM
awesome, that's pretty good coverage all things considered.I have DirecTV with both FSC and Setanta, but i swear when EPL games were on the channel was blacked out. Can anyone confirm this and do I have to change something to get these games to come through? and where do you guys purchase most of your team apparel? i see the espn soccernet store is pretty loaded, anywhere else?
8/7/2009 8:46:51 AM
Man City only has three games televised
8/7/2009 9:51:41 AM
^^ If you're a fan of a big name team, you can go through the soccernet store or some other similar site. If you're a fan of a smaller team you're probably going to have to go through their own shop listed on the team website. I've purchased my jerseys in the past through the official team store on their own site. You know what you're going to get and you can generally customize it how you want and know it'll be the real thing. You can go the Ebay route and get some cheapo from Thailand, but it will look like shit if you ever get it. I went tried to buy one through there one time a few years back because it all appeared legit and it had all of the badges and such I wanted on the jersey. I paid, and it never came. Ebay said there wasn't shit they could do about it, but thankfully I dropped less than 20 on it, I can't remember how much exactly.]
8/7/2009 10:31:45 AM
I got one of those cheapo ones from Ebay because I just felt like rolling the dice. It's perfect. No difference from the real thing in look or feel. I suspect though that if I ever wash it it will fall apart, so I'm going to avoid doing that. In the future though I am only going to buy from official sources, because I feel guilty every time I wear this thing.
8/7/2009 10:48:47 AM
Generally they have some nice pictures up of official shit, but who knows if that's really what is being sent to you. If you don't mind rolling the dice, then Ebay is the way to go. I would imagine most of the time you will get your shit, but after trying once and not getting the jersey, I'm not going that route personally.
8/7/2009 10:51:15 AM
I know a guy that has every Arsenal jersey from like 1999 to the present and he gets them all of Ebay and they're all legit. He sent me an e-mail with all these tips on how to spot fakes or scams. It seemed like a lot of work so I never really tried it.
8/7/2009 10:52:10 AM
nice, thanks. My Arsenal jersey is the Away yellows circa 00-02 so its time I upgrade. I love it, but I think I want the home red. But man, the navy kits and the third whites are pretty awesome as well.
8/7/2009 12:31:56 PM
i've gotten like 3 jerseys on ebay and theyve always been legit. if you can wait, go to the eurosport sale in hillsborough, it should be in a couple of months. its kinda of random what jerseys they have, but i've gotten some really good ones there. I bought an aston villa jersey last time and got it customized for ashley young for cheap. my brother got a nottingham forrest jersey and an old holland one. everything is like 60 percent off, so jerseys will be about 20 bucks or so.
8/7/2009 4:29:24 PM
Soccer.com, yo.There, World Soccer Shop. FOx Soccer Shop, and World Soccer Daily shopthey're all the same store basically, and that way you don't even have to play the ebay game of "is it legit or not." Plus they have deals almost daily on shit that they email out.
8/7/2009 7:32:34 PM
I just mentioned it in US thread but I'm not sure what the crossover is between these two... Real Madrid vs. Toronto FC is on ESPN right nowTFC doesn't look too bad at the moment eitherand I spoke too soon because they're getting run now[Edited on August 7, 2009 at 7:45 PM. Fulham's away kit is gorgeous. It's what United's home one should've been, with white instead of the black trim.
8/8/2009 12:36:19 AM
looks good, but the sleeves look like wizard's sleeves.
8/8/2009 12:44:24 AM
there are all kinds of jerseys on the cheap shipping out of Hong Kong. I've been looking at several Arsenal home shirts, complete with name number and PL patches....16.99.....something has to be too good to be true. Anyone have any experience with these? The seller feedback doesn't seem to give me any indication
8/8/2009 4:57:51 PM
they are fakethat's what's too good to be true$16.99? American retail for a shirt like that is generally $100+.
8/8/2009 4:59:25 PM
So am I right in that we get Premiership games on ESPN2 AND FSC this year? I read above about Setanta, but do they still shuttle games to FSC?
8/9/2009 2:42:36 PM
From my understanding the games are shown like this:Saturdays:7:45 EST game: ESPN210:00 EST games: split between FSC and Setanta12:30 EST games: FSCSundays:8:30 EST game: Setanta10:00 and 11:00 EST games: split between FSC and Setanta?Mondays:3 EST game: ESPN2Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Setanta
8/9/2009 2:53:05 PM
Saturday here we come.anyone know exactly what games we'll get on this side of the pond? couldn't seem to find anything on espn.com
8/12/2009 8:55:59 AM
I think there's sub-licensing deals still to be made between FSC and ESPN so the schedule for this weekend hasn't been sorted out. You'd definitely think that Hull-Chelsea would be on one or the other though.
8/12/2009 9:03:47 AM
will the espn games be in hd
8/12/2009 9:07:19 AM
Nobody's sure of anything yet because there hasn't been an official announcement from ESPN.I do believe they're showing it in HD on ESPN UK but from what I understand, that doesn't really mean anything as far as what will be shown in the US.
8/12/2009 9:13:31 AM
damn, browser crashed when i was typing this all out... here is the rundown again* Chelsea v Hull City, 7:45am, ESPN2 Live (Not Shown on ESPN TV Listings as of now)* Blackburn v Man City, 9:30am, Setanta Live* Aston Villa v Wigan, 10:00am, FSC Live* Everton v Arsenal, 12:30pm, FSC Live* Stoke City v Burnley, 2:30pm, FSCi'm a little worried, espn.com's tv listings show no signs of coverage for the above Chelsea game. So i'm really not sure what's going on there. Also, does anyone know of any blackout regulations on Setanta or FSC? I have both on DirecTV but i swear during last season any time i tried to watch a EPL or UEFA match i would be blacked out. I dont want to wake up to disappointment this saturday.
8/12/2009 9:15:09 AM
I've never had Setanta, but I think kiljadn does so he can probably answer blackout questions about that...But I don't think that happens for FSC, at least I can't ever remember it happening. And you also forgot Liverpool-Spurs at 11 am on Sunday, FSC
8/12/2009 9:17:48 AM
I hate the way it makes me sound but I'm at a point in my life where I only watch live sports in HD, so this could be a dealbreaker for me
8/12/2009 9:18:27 AM
yeah, having most sports in HD has been very nice... although, watching a game in HD early Saturday morning and then flipping over to FSC might be way too much of a contrast to take... it'll be like watching the game underwater
8/12/2009 9:21:44 AM
I wouldn't watch the FSC gameI'd tape the ESPN game and start watching it around 9, then flip over to Gameday and the full day of football that follows

8/12/2009 9:26:51 AM
I had Setanta 2 years ago. There is only one channel available in the US, whereas in Britain and elsewhere, there are 2 (sometimes 3) channels.Generally what happens is this:Setanta USA will switch feeds for pre-determined games on the US channel. So you may see one game on Saturday at 7AM that is on Setanta 1 in Europe, and then the other game which will be shown on Setanta 2. If you're checking listings for Setanta 1, then you may be confused into thinking that that game will be available for watching in the US as well, which is not necessarily the case.Basically long story short: look here http://www.setanta.com/us/Our-Sports/Soccer/Barclays-Premier-League/ for the actual games you should be able to see on Setanta. I am not sure how the distro rights are going to be here in the US for the ESPN games, though.and for the record, ESPN's feed is probably NOT going to be HD for these games. They are acquiring Setanta's feed, not broadcasting from their own AFAIK. Setanta is not HD and neither is FSC. Neither has the infrastructure to broadcast in HD in the US. FSC is supposedly working on it, but they won't be able to do it until 2011. Setanta, obviously, is in administration and probably will never make it to HD here.
8/13/2009 10:51:20 PM
They are not acquiring Setanta's feed, as there is no more Setanta feed. Setanta no longer exists in the UK. ESPN has launched in the UK and picked up the rights that Setanta held before.FSC HD is launching in January 2010.

8/14/2009 12:56:44 AM
Whats up with Alvaro Negredo?Hull City!? Liverpool?Where's he giong?
8/14/2009 12:57:03 PM
Set your alarms (or DVR's) for 7:45am everybody...http://www.epltalk.com/breaking-news-espn-to-show-chelsea-v-hull-city-game/10090/
8/14/2009 8:06:53 PM
coming from someone without cable, i'd almost rather ESPN not show the games. they kill streams pretty efficiently whereas other stations let them go.
8/14/2009 8:12:06 PM
^^ already done
8/14/2009 9:33:49 PM
I know this is an EPL thread, but State's women's soccer team beat VMI 7-0 in their exhibition game tonight. Even though this was an exhibition, the team looks vastly better than last year.Back to the EPL. GO ARSENAL!!!!!!

Per Jozy's twitter - Bad news guys still in the states trying to sort things out with my work permit. There is a lil more work that has to be done.

I just came back in here to post that, niceCheck out ESPN games through September
8/14/2009 11:03:48 PM
I highly doubt they will have HD given that they didn't even have HD for Champions League aside from the final (maybe the semis?).
8/14/2009 11:17:50 PM
the game isn't showing up on my channel guide, but here's to hoping that recording bassmasters will = Chelsea
8/14/2009 11:26:22 PM
