Has anyone gotten hooked up by calling even though it showed no availability yet on the website? The trucks were out here a month ago. I talked to the guys and they said it should be available shortly and that is what they were doing (they also checked some issues I thought I had with my line--turned out to be my third faulty modem beginning to crap out).

Also, why was Packet8 recommended vs. Vonage? It seems that the $24.99 Packet8 plan is the exact same as the $24.99 Vonage plan (which I get for $14.99 anyway). Do they supposedly have better service?

I have it and I like the service and the ability to watch HD in multiple rooms but the savings...well we'll see.

I looked at my bill and saw a lot of promotional credits that will bump the bill up a lot more in 6-12 monthes. But I will call (like always) and act like I am canceling and they will attempt to negotiate a better deal so they don't lose me as a customer.

I def. saw an AT&T van working on two "tents" that could def. fit a U-verse box or two under there at the gas station right across from Tacos Mexico in Apex at 12:30AM this morning. Anyone in Apex been notified that U-verse is coming? That's like 15 miles from me and I'm really hoping it'll spread this way.

It's available here but I'm not getting it yet. Still under contract with Dish, which for what I spend gives me more high def channels than U-Verse for the same price. Dish just did a rate hike but I called and complained to them and they agreed to keep my price locked at the old rates for the next year.

Tried to get just U-Verse internet but they won't do it without TV. I don't feel like going through all the hassle of ordering then canceling the TV service just for the internet, so I called RoadRunner and told them that I was going to switch if they didn't do something. They knocked $10 off my bill through August and upgraded me to the 10MB plan for free.

I figure once the Dish contract is up that will give AT&T the time to work out any bugs with the new system and be a good time to switch everything over at once.

AT&T vans have been working on the boxes near the intersection of Ten Ten Road and Reliance Avenue in Cary pretty much every day for the past few weeks.

I love UVerse. I had pre-ordered Quantum of Solace in HD on iTunes and it was available to download last night at 12am. By ~12:20 both the HD (~4gb) and SD ~(1.2gb) movies were downloaded.

Why is the internet so slow with the lower tier packages (~3mbps)?? I mean, that's even lower than Time Warner... what gives?

^^Well, there isn't something for me apparently b/c I want decent internet, but am not interested in the digital phone at all. It looks like you have to get the phone to even hit 6mbps (which is still less than Road Runner)

sucks, because the TV package sounds amazing enough to get me off my current HTPC setup.

^^what are you talking about? U-Verse isn't even offering VOIP in this area, and you can get any connection speed you want without phone service.

^^^umm...what?

The only two items required are TV + Internet. I don't know where you got this VOIP from. like ^ said, its not even available here and if it were it would be optional.

When you sign up you see two sections one for TV and one for internet. They each have a bunch of radio buttons and check boxes. Select the radio button next to the internet speeds that suit your needs.

I'm looking in the Charlotte, NC area. And as far as it'll let me get (it's not available in my area quite yet), it looks like you have to pick between bundles. Maybe it's set up differently here, or maybe they let you upgrade the internet service in a later step. It's just the way they present the info, makes it seem like you need the $200/mo package to get the fast internet.

you can get the UD200 (or whatever is the lowest) + 18down/1.5up package. You should see a link some where for 'build your own' OR if you select the lowest package available that has the slow internet, the next screen allows you to customize it by adding the premium channels and higher speeds and voip if its available in your area and you actually want it

Alright all you AT&T people, help me out here.

I'm recording a show from 9p to 10p. As a result of the Presidential BS, my show starts 5 mins late. I want to extend my recorded show 5 mins to make sure I get it all. I know how I used to do it on TWC, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it on AT&T. I went online and looked at my recordings and I can't see how to do it there either.

Thanks for the help!!

Just placed my order tonight (U200 and Elite), could have it installed as early as Monday but went with next Wednesday. I figure we'll switch to U450 during the fall months when new shows and sports pick up.

Maybe I'm missing something. I got U-Verse (u200, 10mb down 1.5 up) about 3 weeks ago. What is the big deal? TWC was always flawless for me (roadrunner ).

This is the first digital/hd tv feed for me. I thought it was going to be a world of difference. Basically, I got a DVR and a good-enough signal... geez big deal

The internet is great only because of the 1.5 up.. otherwise, I cant tell a bit o difference in watching hulu or anything else that I do (downstream) ...

This is not that great a deal. To get what I currently get from TWC for $108, U-Verse is demanding $117 + tax plus we have to give up analog cable so if we want to watch TV elsewhere we need $7 boxes.

if you never had problems with TWC, you're in a very small minority.

the video is also much less compressed (especially on HD feeds), you get like 4 times as many HD channels, the DVR doesn't suck, you can record 4 shows at one time... i could go on and on...

not to mention the fact that ever since the initial install appointment, AT&T has pretty much bent over backwards to help us out and make sure we are happy.

it's a good thing the CWA strike doesn't effect the former Bellsouth states. Otherwise, our service might be fucked up for a couple months while AT&T rips the union apart.

Has anyone with U-Verse gotten any advanced features running?

For example, TVersity which is supposed to allow you to watch media content from your PC on the U-Verse set-top box (I suspect not).

Another feature I am looking for is to be able to view the U-Verse DVR remotely on either a PC or mobile phone without a slingbox.
