it's been a LOT better this year filling up on time.[Edited on November 13, 2008 at 12:46 PM. Reason : fans & students.]

not, advocating walking to the game with a beer... pshhh
11/13/2008 1:34:50 PM
^^wut?!? have you ever actually heard of or seen anyone getting an open container ticket walking to a football game? Anywhere?
11/13/2008 1:50:37 PM
i have carried coolers with beer to drink while waiting in the student line to get into the stadium and i was drinking on the waynever stopped once
11/13/2008 1:53:40 PM
^^ You havent been to Chapel Hill in a while, and yes, they do hand out citations.[Edited on November 13, 2008 at 2:09 PM. Reason : .]

for once, i couldn't agree with Jaybee1200 moreEDSBS had a link a couple of days ago about how a division-leading UNC can't even sell 4k tickets to an away gametarhole fans who think Butch is going to stick around long term are deluding themselves
11/13/2008 2:13:13 PM
^yephe will be gone when a great opportunity at a big time program opens or another NFL job opens up. Butch has a large ego and probably would want to give the NFL another shot if the right situation opened up. Either way UNC will not have him around for 10 years or anything remotely close to that.
11/13/2008 2:36:30 PM
Whats the average coaching tenure in the NCAA?I would assume most teams dont have coaches around for 10 years.
11/13/2008 2:58:16 PM
^well, notre dame drags it down by firing a coach every 3 years but it probably isn't tenbut it certainly would be for butch if he did want to stay at UNC. he could easily be there ten years if he wanted. my point is that UNC fans seem to think he will stay there until he retires, which is probably around ten years. i just think he will jump at the first big-time job that offers a great chance at a national chmpionship or a good NFL job if anyone offered. Like I said, he has quite a large ego.
11/13/2008 3:04:57 PM
11/13/2008 3:10:11 PM
^ what makes you think UNC fans think he will stay there until he retires?

UNC fans should have known that BD wouldn't stay long. If he would leave UM on the verge of a national championship, he won't hang around UNC when more $ comes along. We all know that Chapel Hill is heaven on Earth, but that didn't keep Mack Brown. And it won't keep BD.We all know the real reason the students don't go to football games in Chapel Hill is b/c they are too busy studying. English and history degrees take a lot of effort. You have to read books and stuff.
11/13/2008 3:22:53 PM
^^It's better to just let them be horrible fans. If UNC's football team wanted the fans to show up in the 1st quarter they obviously wouldn't have lost any games this season.
11/13/2008 5:36:08 PM
^I don't see your logic. They lost one of the games on the road.
11/13/2008 5:52:55 PM
11/13/2008 7:11:30 PM
^THEN YOU CLEARLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS ABOUTand you don't deserve to have a successful program.butch is good as gone.
11/13/2008 7:30:33 PM
Forgive me.I am blown away by your logic. How will I ever recover?Oh no.
11/13/2008 7:37:20 PM
forgive me for associating you with the typical Carolina fan. You know the situation, and I guess show up on time. As for the average student, he doesn't give a shit about all the factors and shows up late, ergo he doesn't really care about the game.does that make you happy?
11/13/2008 8:25:04 PM
I think a lot of it has to do with them simply being drunk, or at least thats a contributor to not caring/being on time.:shrug:Doesnt really matter to me.

Well there are quite a few coaches who have coached well in to their elderly years. JoePa, Bowden, and our favorite espn analyst Im sure there are others but I dont keep up with football much outside of the ACC.Also, the all or nothing mentality isnt really that realistic. I agree his age would make him more complacent as to where he sets his anchor so to speak, but I think he has a lot more years of football left in him.Its easier for him to be successful at UNC, to leave a legacy there, and its sure as hell not as cut throat as Tenn's conference. I think UNC learned their lesson with Mac Brown and they wont let that happen again, or at least without putting up a much larger fight. Most of the UNC team right now are sophomores, they are ranked 16th in the nation, and even though ncsu fans dont want to accept or even recognize it, they could be in the top 10 in the next 2 years. It is entirely plausible they could be in NC contention in the next 4 but its going to take a strong showing of consistency over the next 4 years. Its certainly feasible, but I am a bit skeptical of it until it happens.[Edited on November 13, 2008 at 9:51 PM. Reason : .]
well, this is my first post in this circle jerk of a thread, but does anyone have any legit info that might suggest he really is leaving? If the other 6 pages are anything like this one, I'll pass on looking back through it.

You might want to pass and just read the info on espn.com

weak ass fanand for the record, I dont think Davis is going to Tennessee, it will take someone hungrier, younger etc. to deal with Meyer and Richt every year
11/13/2008 10:26:42 PM
Butch is waiting on the unc-charlotte job
11/13/2008 10:30:04 PM
^lol; i wonder who their first head coach will bejaybee, if you think someone younger for the Tennessee job then I guess you think Leach is out too. I assume Muschamp maybe would be your top choice?

no, Leach is a young coach

Davis' agent is in Chapel Hill today re-negotiating the terms of Davis' contract. Should be a done deal before the weekend.

If Jones can't start beating some non-cupcakes, we need to make this happen as our next coachPlus my "Butch 4 Life - Go Vols!" tattoo will still make senseI really think Jones is another Sidney Lowe type coach. Recruits great players for our team, but can't coach our team for shit. Some other Vols fans might stand for it, but I won't.
