well, hes been there what, 12 years? and Lon Kruger got them to the final four and he was was there 5-6 years, so thats 18 years of being a pretty good team... you take someone like Louisville or Kentucky and have then be equally good in football for 18 years (BCS games, 2 National Championships) and I think football would be bigger[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 6:59 PM. 6/16/2008 6:59:31 PM
^^ohio state was pretty good when they had Michael Redd and Laurence Funderburke back in the late 90s (or early 2000s, I cant remember)
6/16/2008 7:01:12 PM
^^Football will never be bigger than basketball at Kentuckywhy cant you just accept that fact?
6/16/2008 7:03:57 PM
^^yeah but all that shit got vacated by the NCAA, so let's ignore it for the sake of argument
6/16/2008 7:05:26 PM
do we still have a basketball team or have they finally run their course?
6/16/2008 7:06:02 PM
for the record, I have tried to get this back on the original topic 2-3 times...come on people, lets be objective here
6/16/2008 7:08:55 PM
to get it back on topic and to consolidate a few threads:oh shit... just added the 40th ranked player in the country to the already 10th ranked recruiting class:
6/18/2008 6:52:23 PM
NH to AZ to TN. Weird. Was it ever released why he backed out of UA? I'm guessing the coaching clusterfuck...but the dude that recruited him left for Memphis...hmmmm
6/18/2008 8:06:12 PM
6/18/2008 8:11:15 PM
It's too early in the year for me to look at rosters/playing time for freshman, but I did find it weird he didn't bolt to Memphis. Guessing he may have felt like he was betrayed by Pastner leaving and now he's spurning him.
6/18/2008 8:19:22 PM
could be, not sure. Or maybe the fact that Memphis is a fucking shithole haha
6/18/2008 8:20:44 PM
Beale street disagrees.
6/18/2008 9:46:33 PM
yeah, the one street that tourists go to... of course its awesome, but that doesnt make up for the rest of the city
6/18/2008 9:59:21 PM
OMFG Beale Street! 2 blocks=awesome city!
6/18/2008 10:09:06 PM
I think it's funny when you look at the whole arguement on pages 5 and 6 and you take a look at NCSU and we totally bomb that arguement. NCSU is most obviously a basketball school and yet since 1998 our football attendance % is way higher than basketball attendance % and yet during that same time we did better in basketball finishing higher in polls and the ACC just about every year.
6/19/2008 12:49:59 AM
2 words. herb sendek.and the basketball school thing isn't so obvious. ask around the country most people know ncstate for phillip rivers mario williams and that fat crazy guy that used to coach them. Plus we were only great in the 70s.
6/19/2008 1:06:08 AM
Stop trolling seriously.Nobody ever heard of a Cinderella team or coach named Jimmy V. Nobody. Chuck Amato is way more popular than him.
6/19/2008 1:11:24 AM
Jimmy V is known more as a espn analyst for his speech at the espy's than a coach here.

Maryland and NCSU are surely basketball....both have national titles although MD has a football title wayyyy back in what 1959?GTech is more football....UVA has historically been more basketball.Wake is more basketball.....they are good at football and still can't fill at 35,000 seat arena.

Beale Street isn't even that cool. It feels too touristy to really want to do much there. There is some good food and music you can find, but it still doesn't feel like much more than pointless tourist destination. Not that Knoxville is gonna seem that much cooler to random recruit.

ASU will suffer a late season breakdown and miss the tourney again, in typical Sendek fashion
6/19/2008 9:26:35 AM
so it's not OK to have a 2nd favorite team?
6/19/2008 9:40:52 AM
Is FSU your 2nd favorite football team? Our last head coach is now involved in their coaching staff

Any person who only roots for NC State in every sport will have a sad, lonely, depressing life.
6/19/2008 10:28:36 AM
^ very true. We will never win shit while I'm alive. If you accept that then you will have a better life.
6/19/2008 10:32:03 AM
^^oh well, i'll just have to deal with it...besides, that doesnt stop me from doing things such as rooting for the Jayhawks to beat the Tarheels last year and theres always pro sports
6/19/2008 10:35:25 AM
fortunately, whether or not state wins shit does not have bearing on how lonely i am.

How many PPG does Hansbrough need to score this year to break Redick's ACC scoring record?
6/22/2008 12:32:17 PM
Which teams do you want to see absolutely fail? I'd like to see both VT and WF fail. WF b/c everyone is sucking them off and how great they'll be next year b/c of the incoming recruits (also they are a Tobacco Road school). VT b/c of how pompous their fans usually are and now they think they have a rivalry with Duke.
