PS, this is another quote of Huckabee expanding on his views of evolution:
1/5/2008 12:46:43 AM
^^ kinda like when Obama answered Clinton's charges of his inexperience with "Rumsfeld and Cheney had tons of experience."^^^ I don't think he dodged the question, and I don't think that question necessarily has a yes or no answer.^ Look, I'm not a fan of him, partially because of his stances on social issues. However, I think you're taking him as more of a threat than he is has thus far given any reason for us to believe he is. All I'm saying is that--as Baptist preachers turned Republican politician go--so far, he has given some indication that he is much more reasonable and non-threatening than many of you seem to have assumed.[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 12:53 AM. I also have to totally respect what Huckabee said on the Maher show. it was pretty damn well-considered and reasonable. like Duke summarized earlier, he basically said: "i dont know how God made life come about. maybe through evolution, maybe through some other means. the details are not my concern."and "these everyone-who-believes-X-raise-your-hand games are stupid"if i believed in his god, and was forced to reconcile the Bible with scientific evidence, i would probably say the exact same thing he did.I havent been following Huckabee very much, but that one interview he sounds very coherent. maybe he was being evasive and/or obscuring some of his core beliefs, because he knew he'd be ridiculed? or maybe he's just more enlightened than many of us non-religious types want to admit that a man of faith can be?[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 12:56 AM. Huckabee is a very good, coherent speaker, I'll give him that. He's a master of soundbytes, kind of like Obama. But underneath the eloquence is still a bible-thumping preacher, albeit a semi-palatable one. -He held up an emergency bill from the Arkansas legislature for 4 weeks because it used the phrase "Acts of God" in describing natural disasters and he objected to the terminology. -He wants "alternative viewpoints" to evolution taught in schools. That's code-word for intelligent design.-He pressured the parole board to parole a convicted rapist as a favor to one of his preacher buddies, because the rapist was "born again". Of course that guy raped and murdered a few more women upon his release. Is he really that easily duped? More importantly, are the American people that easily duped by a sweet-talking evangelist like this guy?

^add to ALLLLLLL THAThe is soft on immigration, and his economic policies are "liberal" from what i've heardand he has some crazy ass tax idea that people have been saying for 100 years and aint shit changeddude is a fucking JOKE
1/5/2008 1:07:53 AM
^^ i hear ya, man. im just saying that interview he sounds reasonable.but yeah, look beyond the sound bytes. don't worry... i wouldnt vote for him even if Kucinich was the Dem nominee. i'd toss my vote away on a 3rd party.

1/5/2008 2:10:50 AM
for the record, i just put that^ cause he is running for republican president, and republicans have basically taken it upon themselves to make immigration a big issue every 20 or so years...personally i could care less about some spicks/chinks/others that come here...but one of the reasons repubs do not like him, other than him raising taxes like a dem, is that he is soft on immigration]
1/5/2008 3:44:31 AM
I've noticed that the immigration policy is one of the few issues that has not been split along the classical party lines.
1/5/2008 1:40:48 PM
its definitely an issue that unites the republican party[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 1:44 PM. Reason : unites as in, makes them get more involved in the political process]
1/5/2008 1:43:46 PM
how do you feel about the gays and killing babies to prove your love for jesus
1/5/2008 2:50:59 PM
How about clubbing baby seals? Can I club baby seals to prove my love for Jesus?

wow...after reading this tread for a little while, its apparent that most of you are delusional. You are more worried about an ex southern baptist preacher taking over the country than a muslim. Im glad the majority of the country sees it the other way around. Now you all can go back to your coffee shop hideouts or tompkins hall where you dont have to take responsibility for your actions...carry on.
1/5/2008 5:06:03 PM
^^ and that makes you a bigot."Fuck no, I don't want no MUSLIM in office!"is equal to"Fuck no, I don't want no CHRISTIAN in office!"
1/5/2008 5:07:20 PM
considering no one said they don't want a christian in office, i have no idea what you're talking abouta lot of people just dont want THAT PARTICULAR BRAND OF CHRISTIANITY in office. you know, southern baptist, bible thumping ex-preacher who doesn't believe in evolution. that sort of christian. get over it man[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 5:13 PM. Reason : ,]
1/5/2008 5:08:19 PM
is that "particular brand of Christianity" not a CREED or OPINION? You know, from your definition, bigot? Please, do America a favor and stop breathing.
1/5/2008 5:12:54 PM
m'eh, it's not worth arguing with you. you're an angry, angry dude. go get laid or something. football's on so i'm out[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 5:18 PM. Reason : ,]
1/5/2008 5:15:10 PM
haha. I'll take that as an admission of defeat. Because, clearly, the only thing that is important is sticking your penis into a lukewarm hole. Good work, idiot. I'll be referring you to theDuke for suspension.
1/5/2008 5:17:41 PM
Huck is really running for VP...he is going to get creamed now......
1/5/2008 5:26:46 PM
I think Christopher Hitchens says it best:
1/5/2008 6:48:34 PM
the usual response to that is that this country was founded on white male judeo-christian values, so it's important to keep promoting themi always figured it was gold and land-grabbin, but i was told i was incorrect

1/5/2008 8:42:14 PM
so, moron, in short, your religion is better than his. thanks!
1/5/2008 10:07:02 PM
2+2=5This is my religious belief. Anybody who disagrees with me is a bigot.]
1/5/2008 10:37:05 PM
in what number system, though? everyone who has bitched about Huckabee wrt evolution has only said the equivalent of "I think he is stupid for believing something different from what I believe." And I am calling them out for being morons on it.
1/5/2008 11:28:33 PM
I'm saying that if somebody is running for president and they think Thomas Jefferson was a time traveling android from the 87th century, it's not bigoted to say that's fucking stupid.

seems like a large majority of the high up repubs want romney...i dont get it...seems like those that want romney detest huckabee...personally dems should be hoping huckabee gets the nomination...dems would be a shoe in to win
1/6/2008 7:41:59 PM
^ i do not agree with this statement. i don't think if huckabee got the nomination that dems would be a "shoe in" to win. huckabee is dangerous for dems.
1/6/2008 8:21:33 PM
lol please...that guy is a religious zealot...i dont think america is dumb enough to elect this guy...and thats saying a lot[Edited on January 6, 2008 at 8:22 PM. Reason : or perhaps i am being too nice]plus he knows dick on foreign policy[Edited on January 6, 2008 at 8:24 PM. Reason : .]

doesn't matter what he knows. the religious right has become a fundamental political player.
1/6/2008 8:26:01 PM
i mean i know what you are saying but i dont think that can save the republicans this year
1/6/2008 8:33:54 PM
1/6/2008 8:38:07 PM
yeahhim and romney would want that shit leave it to beaver style
1/6/2008 8:39:15 PM
Huckabee kind of snuck from behind, so no one has really been attacking him. I think you'll see a lot more attacks on him, and he's a pretty easy target.
1/6/2008 9:20:31 PM
^^^ if it comes to that, we'll see. that's why I said "thus far" and "so far", and I stand by my statement.Anyone else noticing how Huckabee's lips are all but affixed to McCain's ass? I wonder if he's thinking ahead that he's probably a long shot for the nomination, but that a McCain ticket is becoming increasingly likely (again, haha) and that he could be a pretty viable VP choice.
1/7/2008 12:33:54 AM
^i will tell you this duke, take it for what you will(or however that saying goes)as i was watching tonight, i realized a mccain/huckabee ticket would probably be the strongest republican ticket you could make...you got the military/foreign policy experience, the religious people, mccain is pretty moderate on the environment...mccain was with bush on the immigration thing, huckabee isnt too strict on immigrants, huck rose taxes, mccain didnt want the bush tax cut(one of 3 that didnt)
1/7/2008 1:09:31 AM
i don't disagree.and while I'm all about pretty much any tax cut, I give McCain a pass on that one since his opposition to the tax cuts was only due to the fact that there were no corresponding spending cuts.
1/7/2008 2:26:53 AM
awesome...i got a feeling we disagree on whether we would vote for that ticket(i would guess you'd vote for mccain/huckabee)...before i thought of that, there were 2 people i was voting for(in order):1. obama2. mccain--------if neither of those 2 i'd prolly vote dem just cause(not like it would change nc result anyways )(prolly hillary if not obama)but now that i think huck might get the VP nod i dont know...i just dont like the idea of someone super religious getting that powerful...i already question mccains judgement on the whole beachboys, "bomb iran" joke(especially after the NIE report that came out recently), and huck may be too much for me to handle :/[Edited on January 7, 2008 at 3:34 AM. Reason : and thanks for the thing on the tax cut...had forgotten about that]
1/7/2008 3:34:05 AM
oh, he wouldn't be my pick for VP...I just think it might be an electable ticket.
1/7/2008 3:51:25 AM
Stephen Colbert has tape of three separate occasions of Mike Huckabee offering him the vice presidential slot if he wins the nomination.
