I am a model citizen! Ok not really but definitely helps I have gotten two warning tickets now for 90+ in a 55. It is, however, annoying that tickets for expired tags show up on background checks anytime I have to run one for a military job.

Dan.. I never claimed to be a fucking angle. Its just fucking chilish to come on a public message board and say haha blah blah I did this and got caught for it. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT! So I'm not being a hypocrite. This thread just makes me slap my head

This guy is in his mid to early 30s with a kid none the less, and know that his behavior everywhere effects his job and he's just laughing it off.

I'm not gonna preach but come on man.

you say this, but in the past you've been against driving over the legal alcohol limit. both limits are chosen based on risk-assessment studies. just wanted to point out the inconsistency in your logic

"^^He might have driven a little wrecklessly from time to time in college, but that isn't the case now... most people our age who are into fast cars do it right and take it to the track (I know for a fact Duke and TKE-Teg both do this). The tickets they are getting are honest mistakes, and things a lot of us do (granted the first ticket he mentioned in this thread was 15 over, but I have definitely done 70 in a 55, as has pretty much all the rest of traffic). Yeah, someone driving like a dipshit is endangering people, but his last ticket was for registration and window tint...

come on people..."

You gotta realize that just about the majority of flamers in this thread do so out of ignorance...they know nothing about performance driving or capabilities of those who hone their skills behind the wheel. I, too, know for a fact that theDuke866, TKE-Teg, H8R, and a whole slew of other people on this site participate in high performance track events, time trials, sanctioned racing, and driver schools where it's of utmost importance to maintain acute awareness of your surroundings and learn to react quickly and wisely to impending crisis situations...and I'd bet a good chunk of change that their reaction times and avoidance techniques would put damn near everybody else here to shame...at twice the speed.

And after having heard about a majority of these offenses incurred by theDuke866 straight from his mouth and in person, I'd have to say that most of them have been just sheer rotten luck...because an overwhelming number of people do much worse on a regular basis and don't get caught. This includes a lot of you.

wait, so it's luck that he was doing 85 in a 50 (or whatever the fuck it was)?

did he pull a lever that determined a random speed for his car to travel?

or are you saying his failure to pay attention to his surroundings while traveling at an excessive rate of speed and missing road signs is somehow related to luck?

I'm sorry I ran that stop sign officer - it was just bad luck i didn't see it.

Nosir, that was just a load of bastard trolling you presented.

Shall I rephrase and clarify? Sure, he did all that, and knowingly at that. But just how many times do you see many people do the same thing (and much worse) and not get caught? My daily commute is about 30 miles one way, and I see an amazing amount of shit that puts his transgressions to shame...every day.

But you see, when this happens:

Quote :
"But on the roads the soccer moms, asians, and people not paying attention don't know what you're doing(controled or not)"

Then this comes into play:

"where it's of utmost importance to maintain acute awareness of your surroundings and learn to react quickly and wisely to impending crisis situations...and I'd bet a good chunk of change that their reaction times and avoidance techniques would put damn near everybody else here to shame...at twice the speed"

Don't be given the impression that I drive like a maniac. But outside of residential streets (or streets with limited sight) I usually drive around 10 over and more like 15 over on the interstates. And that's b/c I'm not the lowest possible denominator and not some tool driving his shit box with crap brakes on bald tires and 2 out of 3 brake lights burnt out texting on his cell phone while barely paying attention to the road. I don't talk on the phone in my car (it's too loud to carry on a conversation) and I never eat in there either. When I'm on the highway I'm always looking several hundred feet down the road and am trying to figure out what the cars around me are going to do next.

Also only gotten one speeding ticket - driving a box truck on glenwood ave crossing Peace @ 45mph cause a mack truck was actually rubbing my bumper to make the light...he went to jail, i got a city citation that didn't go on the record...so 16 years driving without any of the crap you kids get into.

ANYONE CAUGHT DRINKING BEHIND THE WHEEL DESERVES TO LOSE THEIR LICENSE, REPEAT OFFENDERS SHOULD LOSE THEIR CAR TO THE STATE, THERE IS SIMPLY NO EXCUSE FOR DWI/DUI.

I guess I'm just saying that when the law gets ahold of you. YOU JUST GET IT. God knows I've learnd my god dammed lesson.
But for someone to be so praised on his driving, one would think that blowing by cars on the road and paying attention to your surroundings would be a hint that hmm maybe I'm driving to fast.

I drink and drive all the fucking time, because i know my limit, drive the speed limit (not a fucking mile over unless i have asswhips on my tail) and fucking avoid other cars at all costs. I've only gotten one ticket driving back from out of town because i was like 20 minutes late for work already. I was pulled over for going like 70 on 64 near apex with no other cars around. Got that shit dropped... I have never been in an accident and never been close to being in an accident that was my fault (almost got rear ended by someone at a stop light one time but i was paying the fuck attention and got out the way)

Basically i am the best driver ever. Get mad if you want but how many tickets do you have and how many accidents have you been in?

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

and i was like "damn, someone is taking a stand, awesome"

and i looked and saw it was XSMP

then i read the rest of the page

and got the context

hey listen the stuff in big text was 100% from the heart. I will let a mass murderer crash the couch before driving drunk, and fight the biggest dude at the party for his keys if he won't give them up voluntarily. I used to install breathalizers for Monitech and dealt with way too many lying bastards that can't help but drink and drive that I feel strongly on the issue prolly forever.

^ Speaking of...
Is there an accurate personal breathalyzer testing unit on the market? I know when I looked into it several years ago I found that they were all wildly inaccurate from the tests I read. I really think making that type of device available to the public at a reasonable price will have an effect on drunk driving. I know I'd drop a few hundred bucks to always know I'm in compliance and maybe even prove to a few friends that they need to stay off the roads. I'd bet that a huge portion of the DUI cases happen with people who legitimately think they're operating legally.

Bars in Virginia have Breathalizers on the wall by the door for that very reason.
I don't know of a particular personal unit that's accurate, look into what cops use, I'm sure they are for sale. As far as Monitech's units, they have two kinds, the old CB radio looking units, and their new Quicktest, both cost over $700 if you lose/break it, and considering the number of people involved in making the unit, the fuel cell material, etc. I don't see a cheap version of this thing doing the same job without the inaccuracies you mentioned.

well, i mean, the worst they can do to you for a tail light being out is give you a faulty equipment ticket for it, which falls pretty squarely in the "who gives a shit" category. The only thing about it is that it then necessitates a trip to the courthouse to get it thrown out (which can probably be done informally before court, but it's still a needless waste of time).

Got a 56 in a 45 last week on base. I looked down when I saw the cop and was only doing about 50-52...I don't know if I was going faster before that, or if he RADAR'd someone else and then ticketed the guy in the Corvette. Whatever--base tickets don't affect your insurance and don't have a fine associated with them. They just notify your command, and my command doesn't seem to care too much. If you get too many tickets, they'll suspend your base driving privileges, but it's pretty tough for things to get to that point, unless they catch you talking on the phone/texting on base, which is an automatic 30-day suspension.

ive been pulled 2 out of my last 3 trips to/from VA

once for speeding but got a warning b/c i wasnt speeding when i got to the trooper / he said i passed one of his off duties buddies driving erratically which was bull shit ... only thing i lost was time

got pulled last thursday for crossing center while trying to avoid a tree half laying in the road.
it was late and he wanted to make sure i wasnt drinking/driving (petersburg) no warning just a friendly conversation with an actual really cool cop.

...and then got a ticket for 42 mph in a 20 mph school zone this morning on the way to work. $456 fine, haha! I told the cop that I didn't see any 20 mph sign, but he was pretty indifferent, seeming primarily concerned with printing off a ticket for me and moving on to the next motorist.

Well, I drove up and down that road 3x on the way home today...there is no 20 mph sign anywhere near there in either direction. There are END SCHOOL ZONE signs, but no school zone signs, either, except for "SCHOOL" painted across the road. Seriously...the whole idea of a 4-lane divided highway being 20 mph is absurd.

Obviously I should be able to have the DA shitcan my ticket, but I'm not really satisfied with that. I wonder if there's any way I can get them to check for other tickets issues there and dismiss/refund them, and hold that highway patrolman accountable for his bullshit Barney Fifism.

Some old dude in civilian clothes in a CR-V leaned on his horn for about 10 seconds as I passed him on base this morning. He then followed me to work, needlessly close behind my car, so he could lecture me for speeding (I was doing about 40 in a 35, on a 4-lane divided road)...he was saying silly shit like I probably had a security clearance, and could lose it for breaking the law like that, haha.

I wanted so badly to tell him to get fucked, but I saw he had a blue decal on his windshield and was old enough to be retired or a 4-star Admiral. In either case, he was obviously the sort of douchebag to continue hassling me and causing problems, and clearly senior enough to possibly not get ignored.

Shit like that is why I want out of the military, even though I enjoy stuff like, say, combat deployments.

In hindsight, I was in no hurry at all, I should have kept going past work and continued out the back gate to the backroads, where I could have seen just how much of his day he was willing to waste by following me around...or if need be, just gone WOT and left him for dead.

[Edited on October 24, 2011 at 12:09 PM. Reason : I recognize his car now...if he does that shit again, we'll go for a drive, haha]

I was flying down a road that goes between farms in durham county on the way home friday night, doing about 60 in a 35, and went around a corner, and saw a sheriff's deputy sitting in the center lane, so I knew i was fucked.

I slowed down fast, and he flashed his headlights at me as I went by. This guy was obviously cool because he did not end up pulling me.
