michael: "no i fired them, and you're next..... so what do you say?"hilarious
11/2/2007 12:01:16 PM
since the 'Oh D' Dwight seems to be in a much better mood
11/2/2007 12:31:18 PM
^^^^actually i was more pointing out that he seemed to be getting closer to being fed up with dealing with michael and dwight.

i don't understand why sleepin at your desk is better than you not being here[Edited on November 3, 2007 at 3:02 AM. Reason : had me rolling]

^hahaHow the writers’ strike affects ‘The Office’The important bit:
11/5/2007 2:33:17 PM
they should just do a live episode of the office and forget the writers until the strike is resolved, i'm sure it would be better than nothing, obviously
11/5/2007 4:25:16 PM
no, i doubt itand it being live wouldn't matter whatsoever

11/7/2007 5:25:56 PM
anyone want to write an episode with me, and sell it to NBC? i have no scruples
11/7/2007 5:46:08 PM
well considering the crew walked off the set until the strike is over (as well as steve carrell and others) i doubt you'll have much success
11/7/2007 5:53:30 PM
CGI, my friend
11/7/2007 6:02:53 PM
time to open a new branch with gronke at the helm
11/7/2007 6:18:05 PM
I'd help write an episode, but only if I can get Pam and Jim making out in a supply closet or on a copy machine somewhere in there.
11/7/2007 8:14:51 PM
Most of the cast of THE OFFICE are WGA members.
11/7/2007 8:40:25 PM
11/7/2007 11:22:48 PM
Just saw that on wiki, November 15th will be the last new episode.

This show has gone to shit... even Jim sucks now
11/8/2007 9:27:02 PM
OMFG JIM IS TURNING INTO MICHAELwe didn't see that one coming
11/8/2007 9:36:06 PM
Yeah, tonight's episode was pretty fucking weak
11/8/2007 9:43:03 PM
Not good overall, but Mr. A. Knife had me going.
11/8/2007 9:43:29 PM
tell her its for creed, she'll know what that meansi turned my bandanna back into pants
11/8/2007 9:44:55 PM
i wouldn't go that far. certainly under par for a long time now, though.... Jim did do a good job channeling like Michael, i thought. that closing was good.It seems recently that on every episode, something "big" has to happen. They find a reason to leave the office pretty much every episode now, which 1) makes the documentary format a bit hard to believe (i.e. why the hell would a documentary crew follow Jim and Pam to their first night out together), and 2) it gets away from the fundamental humor of the show of strange and awkward relationships in office and day-to-day situation. It feels like this is the same thing The Simpsons did after about 10 years. Early on in The Simpsons, it focused on Homer and Bart, mostly around the house. But now, every Simpsons episode has to have a big adventure, or a big celebrity guest or something (or.... at least that's how it was when i stopped watching it 5 years ago). Same in The Office. During Season 1, I don't know if the cameras left the office at all. The furthest they went, i think, is playing basketball in the warehouse. From what I can recall from the short synopsis, i think 10 of Season 2's 22 episodes had significant portions outside the office, and a few more with some short clips outside the office and in the warehouse. Then in Season 3, i think about 16 of 22 had major plots outside the office. And so far in Season 4, i think every single episode has had major plots outside the office. This is clearly getting away from the original lure of the show.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Office_%28US%29_episodes
11/8/2007 9:52:03 PM
^ nicely put. I hadn't thought of it that way (esp. the Simpsons comparison), but it makes a lot of sense. I also agree that it makes the whole documentary-style filming hard to believe.
11/8/2007 9:58:02 PM
I think the documentary style stopped being believable a long time ago. It doesn't need to be realistic, it's only there for the asides/confessions/facial expressions.
11/8/2007 11:22:40 PM
Yup. Its the random things that they say that made the show hilarious. This season really is a let down. And now who the hell knows when they'll air the next episode, since BJ Novak and Steve Carrell are apparently part of the writer's union thing.[Edited on November 8, 2007 at 11:43 PM. Reason : ]
11/8/2007 11:43:00 PM
I thought they had already filmed this next one
11/8/2007 11:44:27 PM
they've filmed one more. In addition to Steve Carrel and BJ Novak, Toby/Paul and Kelly/Mindy are writers and part of the Guild too. And i don't know if Greg Daniels is in the union, but he's joined the strike. Jenna has a couple posts about the strike and how it affects the showhttp://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=27753303&blogID=326434607http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=27753303&blogID=326790564and her ex/separated husband James Gunn has some info toohttp://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=58119776&blogID=325719700http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=58119776&blogID=326518167
11/8/2007 11:58:40 PM
oh yeah - Steve Carrell really did a good job with the Survivor Man acting. He mimicked that guy really well
11/9/2007 12:03:56 AM
well it was colder than I thought, so i'm turned my hat back into pants
11/9/2007 9:07:03 AM
I guess they've dropped trying to create tension with Dwight/Angela/Andy.For me this was probably the weakest Office to date.
11/9/2007 9:45:23 AM
the survivor man skit was great"i have fashioned my pants into a shelter""i can make my sportscoat a backpack of sorts"Dwight hiding weapons all over the office...blow dart gun in the toilet / sword up in the ceiling
11/9/2007 10:09:58 AM
I heard steve carrel wrote that one. Hence why it was so cheesy there at the end with michael and jim. Everyone watching at my place felt it was very un-michael-like
11/9/2007 10:17:40 AM
A few episodes have ended with Michael acting like a pretty normal dude. I think its great to show he has somewhat of a chill/cool side to him.
11/9/2007 11:11:59 AM
the surprise birthday parties had me rolling
11/9/2007 12:21:57 PM
this episode was hilariousi loved when he was about to eat those wild mushrooms
11/9/2007 12:24:07 PM
personally I liked the episode
11/9/2007 12:30:57 PM
the ending saved it
11/9/2007 12:46:16 PM
11/9/2007 1:01:57 PM
I agree that he shows his personal side from time to time, but I still felt that it seemed out of character. It's not that I disliked the ending either. I don't know, it just seemed really out of place in the episode I guess. Everything about it seemed a little weird and forced.
11/9/2007 1:17:12 PM
For me there were too many moments where you could see the joke coming from a mile away. Granted there are several moments like this on the Office, but I found myself a bit bored with it. Kind of like I've already seen similar things on other shows.Michael makes his pants into shorts - you can see the "I'm cold now" coming - although duct taping the legs back on was funnyJim consolidates the birthday parties - it's only a matter of time until he has to go back to the old system because everyone is so picky. The parts of the episode that focused on Michael were ok. The parts that focused on the office/Jim/birthday fiasco were not. I felt like I've seen variations of the Jim/birthday fiasco 100 times on other shows - it just wasn't fresh for me. Plus Jim was always better as a non-serious character. It was still better than 90% of all the other shows out there, but I just didn't care for it as much as all the other episodes.
11/9/2007 1:35:15 PM
i personally think the last two episodes have been the funniest of the season.
11/9/2007 3:20:32 PM
i thought the ending was possibly ad libbed instead of being scripted and they just decided to put it in.
11/9/2007 3:23:02 PM
michael singing happy birthday in a high pitch had me crying...i hope they turn that into a musical birthday card....it's so money they don't even know it
11/9/2007 4:58:46 PM
^^that's the feeling I got as I watched it as well
11/9/2007 8:55:03 PM
this was in a chit chat thread about the girl on the left, but i thought it was an awesome pic of jenna fischer
