^ The Dogfaced Gremlin was Rick, not Scott.Interestingly enough, though, since Scott couldn't wrestle at Slammiversary, Rick got Animal to be his partner. ]

oh yeah for some reason i was thinking Scott was dead and thought that story was about Rick

New info from Wrestling Observer:

6/27/2007 8:49:43 PM
had he killed his son before he called out for family reasons(something about spitting up blood)
6/27/2007 8:50:49 PM
^^totally missed the pointhe's saying you wouldn't expect someone of Brett Favre's character to murder his wife and children and then commit suicide
6/27/2007 9:23:31 PM
^^^ Favre isn't a guy who is respected and admired by everyone in football? That's the point of the comparison.^ Thank you.[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 9:23 PM. Reason : 3]

I think most people would consider someone on steroids who has had a history of marital problems at higher risk for this type of outburst than someone who just happens to be famous.
6/27/2007 10:22:32 PM
how about a history of marital problems and pain killer addiction?
6/27/2007 10:25:40 PM
^^ are you really that dense? AS FAR AS THE WRESTLING COMMUNITY IS CONCERNED, BENOIT WAS A PROFESSIONAL AND STAND UP GUY.....WHICH IS A SEPARATE ENTITY FROM HIS PERSONAL LIFE. this is comparable to someone like brett favre in the nfl. holy shitand newsflash, just about every wrestler is on steroids[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 10:27 PM. 6/27/2007 10:26:31 PM
distinct difference
6/27/2007 10:26:51 PM
if you don't know shit about wrestling, you obviously don't understand the pointor maybe you do, and just choose to be ignorant...or an asshole
6/27/2007 10:32:19 PM
its hard to seperate personal life from it whenA) he married his wife through wrestlingB) As you said yourself, " just about every wrestler is on steroids"is my point.
6/27/2007 10:36:15 PM
Every football and baseball player was on steroids too at one time, it's just fans looked the other way cause they'd rather their team win with roided players than lose with clean players, and if you don't believe that you're a damn fool. Bud Selig pretty much encouraged it in his sport. Selig is no better than McMahon in my eyes. At least McMahon looks in the mirror and realizes he's a scumbug. Selig's moronic enough to think he did nothing wrong. For anyone interested, this is a good Ring of Honor match: http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/roh/video/xl7re_roh-lance-storm-vs-american-dragon[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 11:52 PM. ^^what are you babbling about? you never had a point until you totally missed the first point and got called out. stop trying to save face. whatever "point" you're now trying to make is worthless. move along[Edited on June 27, 2007 at 11:35 PM. Reason : .]

Favre is a terrible comparison. A better comparison would be someone like Ray Lewis who everyone in the NFL seems to like and respect, whose personal life no one knows about, but every so often there's a little blip on the radar that goes: "Hey, he might kill some people at some point".Favre is an exceedingly public figure, whose always been pretty upfront with what issues he's had. They're really nothing at all alike except for the fact that they're respected.
6/28/2007 12:46:26 AM
DURRR DURR DUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRTHAT'S THE POINT. THEY'RE BOTH RESPECTED BY THE PUBLIC AND THEIR PEERS. THAT'S IT. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT

^^apparently, it is.look, i dont even watch wrestling. but i respect vinylbandit as a poster and so i take his comparison for what it's worth because i'm not obstinate enough to purposefully miss his point.[Edited on June 28, 2007 at 1:11 AM. Reason : .]

This topic has turned into a bunch of petty arguing. I'm starting to think some of you douche bags are suffering from roid rage.
6/28/2007 9:54:40 AM
yeah for real, don't go killing your wife and kids over it
6/28/2007 10:01:48 AM
Why didn't they tag out?
6/28/2007 10:14:29 AM
haha i guess they couldn't reach the rope to break the submission hold.
6/28/2007 10:33:59 AM
^^ honestly ... i laughed
6/28/2007 10:35:43 AM
I cant believe this shit.... I'm in Italy and I thought "ill go online and check and see if any wrestlers have died while Im away" SURE enough, I read about all of this shit.... damnit. Im glad I have RAW on my DVR to watch when I get home too.. that should be interesting to watch.
6/28/2007 10:46:46 AM
i honestly think he killed his son out of pityhe killed his wife first, probably in a fit of roid rage over an arguementsat around and thought about itsince the son is mentally retarded he probably thought he would be burndening someone with him and since he had the disability he wouldnt live (this is murky ground) but that he would live that great of a lifeBeniot probably killed him out of pity and mercy, wrongfully either waythen he offed himselfafter thinking about it a long while, that my conclusion
6/28/2007 11:06:40 AM
in these situations they typically go with the "thought his family would be better off in heaven" approach...Since we're all about speculating, here's mine.Chris Benoit, a shorter (not short, but in the wrestling world short by comparison) man who compensated for it by building his physique to the breaking point (his skin looked shrink wrapped on him, if his muscles had gotten any bigger i swear his skin would have popped) has a son who will be small his whole life, and won't be able to build muscle to compensate for it. I suppose I'm making an attempt to get into his head, but for someone with a probably history of violence, steroid use (possibly abuse), and is under a very large amount of stress in general I can see him just, breaking. He bound his wife (she had been in wrestling before, and possibly could have defended herself against him, although I don't think she ever was a wrestler she'd spent enough time around them) and strangled her (from behind, from what I hear, i suppose this way he couldn't see her face). And then suffocated his son using a wrestling hold, also from behind. His son who could never be what Benoit really wanted, and in Benoit's mind wouldn't be able to live a full life due to his size and autism. He then proceeded to leave bibles next to them, indicating that he was possibly praying over their bodies, or trying to make a point about them getting into Heaven. And he then killed himself in the same way in which he killed his wife and son, asphyxiation. Either for grief, fear of prison, or a possible belief that since he would have enough time to ask forgiveness for his sins while he was hanging that perhaps it would be a loophole that would allow him to join his family in Heaven.[/speculation][Edited on June 28, 2007 at 11:32 AM. The replies to Quinn and Stein pretty much highlight why wrestling fans are surprised when roid raging meatheads go nuts.
6/28/2007 12:32:10 PM
and now Vinnie Mac comes out to thoroughly vilify Benoit (not that it's hard, i mean, shit, he killed his wife and son)...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19474972/I know what he's thinking, he wants to distance the product as far from Benoit as possible, but honestly I wish he'd just keep his mouth shut, admit that the tribute was premature, and be done with it
6/28/2007 12:44:04 PM
is he wrong ?
6/28/2007 12:50:00 PM
Joanie "Chyna Doll" Laurer is on Jim Rome's show right now talking about the whole wrestling experience and the Benoit tragedy.
