I just realized that tilt up means tilt the neck up and not the entire guitar...it pays to do the tutorial ( at least on the wii ) finally beat tom

I'm guessing you're a guitar hero n00b, but if you're not, how would you compare the Wii experience to GHII on other systems?
10/28/2007 2:24:59 AM
i havent noticed any difference playin on the wii after having played gh1 and gh:80s on the ps2...the one thing that i do find difficult is playing without a guitar. i played without a guitar in co-op on the ps2 and on the xbox, and its much easier than trying to use the wiimote. it uses the trigger button as the green which is kinda awkward. what i ended up doin is kinda puttin my knuckle there and pushing the wiimote into it to hit the green button. i dont know, would take some gettin use to. no way i'm gettin a 2nd guitar just to do co-op with a friend, so somebody's gonna have to get use to it.
10/28/2007 2:28:15 AM
one thing i'm kinda confused about.....when you open the box, you'll notice there's a little black plastic slot on the box thats sized so you can slide a game in. i'm wondering what this is for.
10/28/2007 2:37:49 AM
That's to slide the game in. Duh. nah, I wondered the same thing. That's weird.
10/28/2007 2:55:31 AM
and I'm spent... been playing nonstop since ~12:15 and boy are my arms/fingers/shoulder tiredmade it to the second to last tier of songs on hard, sooooooo many awesome songs along the way. slash was pretty tough, though once I figured out that I could save up 3 attack things it wasnt so bad.
10/28/2007 3:18:53 AM
Just had to goto toys-r-us. they had like 7 bundles. walmart had none, gamestop didn't answer the phone and bestbuy's site said unavailable. Now the question is...should i only take one of my pickup slips to BB and try to get the leather strap before they cancel my preordered game-only, forget both of them and let the order sort itself out, or go pick up both and return the game a day later? =X
10/28/2007 9:45:32 AM
Be careful if you buy from wal-mart. Apparently they have wired and non-wired GHIII bundles. Lots of people are just going there and buying the bundle without paying attention and getting pissed when they find out they got the older, wired guitars.]
10/28/2007 9:52:32 AM
yeah i was wondering why their website was listing wired versions. Fuck that.i guess the only silver-lining is that it's cheaper but not by enough to make it worth it.So this is now starting to bug me. How do you set which profile the 360 loads on bootup? Do you save all your games to your xbox live profile? or the main local one? I can't find where to specify where to make it always load up my live profile. Switching was tolerable with halo 3, but i'm gonna be playing this much more often and it's gonna be a pain in the ass. Nm, just re-ran initial setup. Also can i transfer all the data from my local profile to my new live profile? (still wondering about this though)[Edited on October 28, 2007 at 10:12 AM. Reason : durr]
10/28/2007 10:09:55 AM
^^ Isn't that the same guitar from GH2? There's a picture of it on the cover... I don't even know why you'd buy that bundle after seeing that. The game is pretty good, I'm glad they made it easier to do long hammer on/pull offs.

10/28/2007 10:36:43 AM
I'm having a bitch of a time just getting my PS3 to link up to the mother fuckin guitar.
10/28/2007 10:46:07 AM
other than in the stores ive still never even seen a PS3
10/28/2007 10:55:34 AM
Question - I've got a PS2 (with origional GH controller), a Wii and I'm thinking about getting a PS3. Should I go ahead a pick up the Wii version to go for online play, stick with the PS2 and never go online, or hold off until I possibly get the PS3?
10/28/2007 10:59:52 AM
the only disadvantage to gettin a wii version is that i dont know many people with a wii, so the chances of me ever playin co-op with somebody who actually has their own guitar are very slim. the ps2 version can at least work with a ps3, so you have some cross-functionality.
10/28/2007 11:01:30 AM
Can the ps2 version work with the ps3? I thought the guitars weren't compatible.
10/28/2007 11:07:04 AM
Does the PS2 version have online play?
10/28/2007 11:08:30 AM
10/28/2007 11:24:51 AM
christ, how far into the setlist is One

FUCK GUITAR HERO IIIThe made the hammer-ons & pull-offs so easy you can flick the buttons almost randomly and still get the notes. That's just gay. Guitar Hero 2 was good. I put it on "expert" difficulty because I want it to be challenging. I like the GH II music better too. The battles and whatnot are pretty cool though. And I haven't tried online play yet.
10/28/2007 12:06:29 PM
haha this is my first GH game and I must say that it kicks all kind of ass. I might have to pick up the older versions now.
10/28/2007 12:18:26 PM
i stayed up all night, bought it this morning and played all morning my wrists and hands feel like they're going to explode.
10/28/2007 12:20:50 PM
10/28/2007 1:10:05 PM
^ Yeah, from what I had read other places they were pissed that they were getting new wired LES PAULS.
10/28/2007 1:18:53 PM
GOD DAMNIT I CAN'T BEAT THE FINAL BATTLE ON EXPERT. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO BEAT THIS ONE LAST THING FOR AN HOUR.
10/28/2007 4:34:21 PM
Got it last night at midnight for Wii, played for 4 hours and got stuck on hard at the set with Slipknot and Queens of the stone age ( i haven't played in forever and suck pretty bad ). Then today my friend brought the PS2 version over and we played co-op career for like 30 or so songs. My wrist is dieing inside[Edited on October 28, 2007 at 4:53 PM. Reason : s]

noob questions:i want to play this on the cheap. i have no vid game consoles. will there/is there GHIII for PS2? Is it right that PS2 has no online play? Should i [try to] get a wii for $250 or a PS2 for $130.. what would i be lacking w/ the PS2? just graphics or what? Do all the guitar bundles cost the same for each system? i don't see me playing any other games really, but my gf is at least semi interested in the idea of some Wii games...also whats the diff between GHII and III? Is III just battles? are they different enough to warrant owning both or does GHIII do everything II does and more?
10/28/2007 5:00:23 PM
^^thats the set i'm stuck at too. my friend is better than me and has done a couple of the songs in there...i have yet to beat one.
10/28/2007 5:26:40 PM
10/28/2007 5:37:29 PM
^^^i think , at least for me, the purpose of getting multiple GHs is to get more songs
10/28/2007 5:50:39 PM
My roomate and I went to a halloween party as guitar heroesPS. Eye make-up... I don't know how you girls do it but I don't need to go through that again.
10/28/2007 5:50:49 PM
this game is fucking awesome, as expectedcoop campaign ftw
10/28/2007 6:13:46 PM
too bad they picked a crappy in flames song

10/28/2007 7:59:17 PM
10/28/2007 8:16:54 PM
yea with HDtv's the ps2 version would have a delayit had it in GH as well as GH2 but in the 2nd version they added a calibration feature to help alleviate the problem
10/28/2007 8:24:34 PM
meh, the loose fitting gibson neck for the 360 is a bit annoying. I don't see why they had to make it two pieces in the first place. Travel?
10/28/2007 8:38:48 PM
i love the les paul
10/28/2007 8:51:07 PM
anyone else having a problem with the GH/GH2 controllers being REALLY picky with strum recognition? i usually play with a pick (sloppily, because that's how i play the guitar, but such is life) and have never had a problem with GH/GH2, but the new game is telling me i'm missing notes...there's no problem if i grab the strum bar and push it all the way down and up, but not being able to use a pick and play naturally makes the game no fun at all.
10/28/2007 9:56:23 PM
hmm interesting, is it easier with a pick?
10/28/2007 10:04:08 PM
fucking. awesome.
10/28/2007 10:10:45 PM
so i figured out what i don't like about the game...there aren't any songs that standout that i want to go back and playwith GH2 there's a good handful of songs that are fun to playwith GH3 i just feel like i'm strumming through each song just to get to the next song...no memorable playsure, the songs are more mainstream and the graphics are cooler (and at times i'm getting distracted by the word "ELECTRIC" )....but the game just doesn't seem as fun to play
10/28/2007 10:15:43 PM
i've always found the game easier with a pick...but i've been playing with a pick for twelve years

10/29/2007 1:35:25 AM
I'm having a really good time with it. And though I've never owned any of the other Guitar Heroes and played through their song library extensively, I can say that I enjoy a lot of these songs more than ones on the other games. I get all little kid giddy about "My Name is Jonas" and "Reptilia".
10/29/2007 1:40:09 AM
Cherub Rock and Helicopter are my favs.
10/29/2007 1:50:49 AM
^ Reptilia too.

Here's a complete setlist:http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,138987-c,games/article.htmlI am pleasantly surprised that there's a Fall of Troy and Rise Against song. And Welcome to the Jungle? Yes please.
