I'm guessing you're a guitar hero n00b, but if you're not, how would you compare the Wii experience to GHII on other systems?

i havent noticed any difference playin on the wii after having played gh1 and gh:80s on the ps2...the one thing that i do find difficult is playing without a guitar. i played without a guitar in co-op on the ps2 and on the xbox, and its much easier than trying to use the wiimote. it uses the trigger button as the green which is kinda awkward. what i ended up doin is kinda puttin my knuckle there and pushing the wiimote into it to hit the green button. i dont know, would take some gettin use to. no way i'm gettin a 2nd guitar just to do co-op with a friend, so somebody's gonna have to get use to it.

one thing i'm kinda confused about.....when you open the box, you'll notice there's a little black plastic slot on the box thats sized so you can slide a game in. i'm wondering what this is for.

That's to slide the game in.

Duh.

nah, I wondered the same thing. That's weird.

and I'm spent... been playing nonstop since ~12:15 and boy are my arms/fingers/shoulder tired

made it to the second to last tier of songs on hard, sooooooo many awesome songs along the way. slash was pretty tough, though once I figured out that I could save up 3 attack things it wasnt so bad.

Just had to goto toys-r-us. they had like 7 bundles. walmart had none, gamestop didn't answer the phone and bestbuy's site said unavailable.

Now the question is...should i only take one of my pickup slips to BB and try to get the leather strap before they cancel my preordered game-only, forget both of them and let the order sort itself out, or go pick up both and return the game a day later? =X

Be careful if you buy from wal-mart. Apparently they have wired and non-wired GHIII bundles. Lots of people are just going there and buying the bundle without paying attention and getting pissed when they find out they got the older, wired guitars.

yeah i was wondering why their website was listing wired versions. Fuck that.

i guess the only silver-lining is that it's cheaper but not by enough to make it worth it.

So this is now starting to bug me. How do you set which profile the 360 loads on bootup? Do you save all your games to your xbox live profile? or the main local one? I can't find where to specify where to make it always load up my live profile. Switching was tolerable with halo 3, but i'm gonna be playing this much more often and it's gonna be a pain in the ass. Nm, just re-ran initial setup.

Also can i transfer all the data from my local profile to my new live profile? (still wondering about this though)

^^ Isn't that the same guitar from GH2? There's a picture of it on the cover... I don't even know why you'd buy that bundle after seeing that.

The game is pretty good, I'm glad they made it easier to do long hammer on/pull offs.

Question - I've got a PS2 (with origional GH controller), a Wii and I'm thinking about getting a PS3. Should I go ahead a pick up the Wii version to go for online play, stick with the PS2 and never go online, or hold off until I possibly get the PS3?

the only disadvantage to gettin a wii version is that i dont know many people with a wii, so the chances of me ever playin co-op with somebody who actually has their own guitar are very slim. the ps2 version can at least work with a ps3, so you have some cross-functionality.

Can the ps2 version work with the ps3? I thought the guitars weren't compatible.

No, not really. At least, if that's a picture of you. You saw the picture of the old, crappy guitar and bought it anyway, wired or not?

FYI: The Best Buy on Glenwood has the Rock Band demo, which includes the drumset.

FUCK GUITAR HERO III

The made the hammer-ons & pull-offs so easy you can flick the buttons almost randomly and still get the notes. That's just gay. Guitar Hero 2 was good. I put it on "expert" difficulty because I want it to be challenging.

I like the GH II music better too. The battles and whatnot are pretty cool though. And I haven't tried online play yet.

Did you even bother to read the text that accompanied the picture I posted? Cause I think it might help your situation if you did. Here. I'll post it again without the shiny picture to distract you.

Got it last night at midnight for Wii, played for 4 hours and got stuck on hard at the set with Slipknot and Queens of the stone age ( i haven't played in forever and suck pretty bad ). Then today my friend brought the PS2 version over and we played co-op career for like 30 or so songs.

My wrist is dieing inside

noob questions:

i want to play this on the cheap. i have no vid game consoles. will there/is there GHIII for PS2? Is it right that PS2 has no online play? Should i [try to] get a wii for $250 or a PS2 for $130.. what would i be lacking w/ the PS2? just graphics or what? Do all the guitar bundles cost the same for each system? i don't see me playing any other games really, but my gf is at least semi interested in the idea of some Wii games...

also whats the diff between GHII and III? Is III just battles? are they different enough to warrant owning both or does GHIII do everything II does and more?

it took me like 8 tries on hard (despite beating every song the first time through), and i was just playing through it to unlock all the songs. makes me dread getting there on expert.

If you want to get a Wii, there were 4 at Target in Crossroads this morning. The guitar/game bundle prices vary from store to store and some stores have different prices for different consoles. It'll run you $89-$99 for a wireless guitar + the game, or $79 to $89 for wired.

It is available for the PS2. The PS2 verrsion of GH II sucked in terms of timing accuracy, but the controllers were better. GH III should be better. As far as I know, the only difference between PS2 and the other versions is the lack of online play.

yea with HDtv's the ps2 version would have a delay

it had it in GH as well as GH2 but in the 2nd version they added a calibration feature to help alleviate the problem

meh, the loose fitting gibson neck for the 360 is a bit annoying. I don't see why they had to make it two pieces in the first place. Travel?

anyone else having a problem with the GH/GH2 controllers being REALLY picky with strum recognition? i usually play with a pick (sloppily, because that's how i play the guitar, but such is life) and have never had a problem with GH/GH2, but the new game is telling me i'm missing notes...there's no problem if i grab the strum bar and push it all the way down and up, but not being able to use a pick and play naturally makes the game no fun at all.

so i figured out what i don't like about the game...there aren't any songs that standout that i want to go back and play

with GH2 there's a good handful of songs that are fun to play

with GH3 i just feel like i'm strumming through each song just to get to the next song...no memorable play

sure, the songs are more mainstream and the graphics are cooler (and at times i'm getting distracted by the word "ELECTRIC" )....but the game just doesn't seem as fun to play

I'm having a really good time with it. And though I've never owned any of the other Guitar Heroes and played through their song library extensively, I can say that I enjoy a lot of these songs more than ones on the other games. I get all little kid giddy about "My Name is Jonas" and "Reptilia".

I am pleasantly surprised that there's a Fall of Troy and Rise Against song. And Welcome to the Jungle? Yes please.
